Hi, I'm looking for advice on finding a health visitor.
My cousin has recently had a baby, he'll be 4 weeks on Thursday.
She put on Facebook that she's struggling. Obvious cry for help.

I've been messaging her this morning and she's sayings she's given up. She loves the baby but doesn't want him. She's a useless mum and doesn't know what she's doing. Baby constantly cries, she's tried 4 types of milk and he never settles.

She saw a midwife at a 10 day check but other than that no other professional care.

I'm in Scotland and I had the midwife visit me 4 times at home and the health visitor has been every 2 weeks! My 2nd baby is just coming up to 10 weeks. We're in a small village and j think the health visitor is just bored! I'm not bothered, it's nice to have a chat!

My cousin had spoken to her mum who has just told her to get on with it. Her partner thinks she had pnd.

I've googled baby clinics in her area. One came up which is dated Jan-Feb. I've told her to call them and find out if it's still running. Not sure if she will.

Tempted to contact one of her aunts to go and help her but I'm not sure if that's the best idea. She's in an area of England that is likely to have a 4 week wait to see a gp.

What a lovely person you are.

Most gps have mornings or a set time in the day for emergency appointment. She could get herself or could someone take her today?

Her DH sounds supportive so it may be worth asking him to get her there?

Thank you for the reply. After more searching I found her baby clinic. It happens to be today so I've sent her the details. She said she'll go so fingers crossed she does and she can start to get help. It's hard being 300 miles away and knowing someone is suffering. I've got a 10 week old and a 3 year old. I understand how she's feeling

Did your cousin get to the Drs?

I found her a baby clinic that was luckily on yesterday morning so she went along.

She said the health visitor was really lovely. Told her the baby was fine and gave her some information to take away. The health visitor was going to call her today for a follow up. Xx

If her DH thinks she has PND then she needs to see GP. Get him to ring the GP on Monday and say she needs to see doctor today and if possible he should go with her.

The GP should give her the option of antidepressants and/or talking therapies.
