Oh go on then.

I'm rubbish at titles though but I bow down to Oli's cakes and supermum.

Cake is amazing Oli and a relief to have your first one under your belt?? I'm still ok for this week btw just in case you were wondering - looking forward to it, as is DD!

AQ, we have loads of mice! Literally loads and loads - comes with living in the middle of nowhere. We find several died of natural and not so natural causes each week at this time of year.

Daily - Hope you are ok - I agree with Oli/Indith/AQ, if you can afford it perhaps worth having some time out. Sounds like things are pretty tough.

We're having a hard time getting used to DH working away from home. He's doing 6 days a week atm, but will be down to 5 by the end of year. I know I've been fortunate to have him at home, but the long hours that go with being self-employed meant we only really got family time because he worked from home. Now I'm wondering if we'll ever get much time together again hopefully it'll only be a temporary thing til the end of the year.

Ok guys I'm gonna try and catch up again.....

Ds1 is a bloody nightmare...climbing...jumping....ingnoring...etc...

I'm struggling with the 5 kids and dh has lost his job

So!! Who has gone on to have more as Ive mised that!!

Magnolia! Nice to see you

So sorry dh has lost his job

Erm, when did we last see you? Lenni and I have new-ish ones born in Dec and Jan, AQ has 1 year old twins and Sacha had another didn't she?

Wasn't someone else pg?

Dd screaming her head off and not resettling, I seem to have a dodgy tummy and have spent most of the time dh has been trying to settle her on the loo. Happy days.

You really wanted to know that didn't you.

I just can't deal with it. I'm so far past coping with her and sleep that the crying that comes with trying not to feed her makes me break down but the getting up anywhere between 4 and 10 times a night turns me into a bitter witch who shouts at her children and husband and doesn't have a positive word to say about anything.

Indith, I would be exactly the same if not worse in your shoes. I am in admiration of you for managing this long. You are doing such an amazing job, it will get better and hopefully soon. Is the sleep person an option?

Not wishing to offer useless advice when am sure you've tried anything and everything but does co-sleeping not work atm? I know it didn't in the past but DD (who was a rubbish sleeper) would go through phases when it would work pretty well and others when it was a disaster. She still co-sleeps now from time to time.

Hello Mag74 - I'm so glad you're back! But that you're having a hard time of it.

Aw Indith. You're really going through it. DDs have had dodgy tummies too.

wrt the job front. We can't really afford it financially but need to do it for our emotional well-being. I think we can just about scrape through if we're poor but happy.

Blimey - it seems like we're all going through a rough patch....well then, this is the thread which starts with everybody feeling low but ends with us having 8 hours sleep per night, wonderful new (well paid) jobs and happy households.

bebespain had her ds2 about a couple of months ago - in the summer anyway. Think that's all of the babies.

Sorry to hear about dh's job Mags, there's just too many people in your situation atm. Hope your managing ok.

DS, poor but happy is better than ok off but miserable, imo.

Indith, my over-riding memories of ds2 between about 7 and 10mo involve sitting on the floor in his bedroom alternately crying/begging or screaming at him to go to sleep. It really was the peak of his bad sleeping but I think it did ease a little bit before he was 1. Reading your posts is like having a time machine to take me back 2 years, you feel exactly like I did so I empathise completely.

Lenni, I'm fine for Weds too - really looking forward to it, hopefully the weather will be good. Are you bringing a picnic or shall we go the cafe? I'm easy either way.

Usually bring snacks to keep DD going on the way round and then get her hot food in the cafe - she eats better at lunch atm than at tea. Food is a battle right now, I need to de-junk her, on texco now doing my shop. She is getting far too many calories from bread, potatoes and processed meat like sausage and mince (in various recipes) and is getting so picky as result at teatime. We had risotto tonight which she didn't touch and she picked at a yogurt instead. She's lost a bit of weight, not a lot but I don't want to let her get worse and it become an issue. She is perfectly healthy, just a bit of a toddler asserting herself thing I think.

tesco even... perhaps petrol is the answer

Ds1 is the opposite...really poor lunch eater but will have dinner. Have resorted to making brekkie and dinner main meals and lunch is a faff

Olihan · 04/10/2009 23:05

Sounds all too familiar! The boy would live on nutella sandwiches, savoury mini eggs, mini sausages, yogurts and the odd apple if I let him. He's okay with most cereals for breakfast but dinner is a permanent battle unless it's curry . Strange child.

VeryHungryLennipillar · 04/10/2009 23:11

DD used to be like that Magnolia - she was always too busy for lunch. DS weaning seems to have changed that, she is sat in her chair by 12 whether there is food on offer or not!

Not tried curry yet - perhaps I'll make her a chicken korma this week think I will. DD eats shreddies/toast/scrambled eggs for breakfast but from then on would also live on sausages/fish fingers/savoury eggs/yoghurts and the like. She won't eat chips but any other kind of potato, and is shrinking her veg reportoire by the day. Am going to stop offering her what I know she'll eat iykwim, I think I'm feeding into it by making things she'll eat and not challenging her with 'strange' things anymore.

Good to see you Magnolia! So sorry about the job. It's been tough all around. I'm hoping my latest venture is the final (and best!) round in our situation.

Food has always been a tough one in our house. DS1 is sooo picky. Ds2 started out eating well but then gravitated towards being like his brother - of course! When I would put the plates on the table ds1 would exclaim "Ewwww" or something like that and so ds2 would then refuse it also. Some improvement lately.

Indith, I really, really sympathize. Both boys were horrendous sleepers and dh and I decided we had not had a normal night's sleep in 5 years. Things are better now but I had about decided I would be permanently sleep-deprived

Just got back from reunion weekend and saw a few old friends. I was disappointed that many in the class didn't come. Oh, and managed to fall down half a flight of concrete stairs while holding ds2 . I managed to keep him out of it but banged up one leg quite a bit in the process. Dh just kind of looked at me for what seemed like forever as I was crumpled up until I said "For God's sake take the baby so I can get up!" Men

I am so looking forward to ds1's 3rd birthday He came to me earlier pointing to a peppa pic helicopter in the argos catalogue and said "Mummy you buy me this?"

lol, we are getting lots of "I want _ for my birfday" AT this rate we would have to buy out Toys R Us to satisfy him! Fortunately he quickly forgets about it...I think

Am very jealous of the birthday excitement - poor planning on my part means DD's just gets lost in amongst festivities. Am not buying for her this year really and am going to arrange some birthday treats instead so she gets lots of attention rather than gifts since gifts have lost their appeal by then with Christmas only just passed. Am thinking of having an 'official' summer birthday for her, so many people have suggested it, no one (except me!) seems to think it is strange.

Lenni - that's what we did this year. We did something special on our actual days but saved our cards and presents unitl June.

If ds2 had arrived on his due date (Dec 15) we probably would be doing a summer party. In fact, we have had ds1's party a month after his birthday two years in a row b/c of school starting hysteria in August and it hasn't been an issue with him.
