Evening all,
Just got all 3 in bed, DH is away on a course for a few days and doing it all on my own looms all day but it went quite well. Just got the devastation in the garden to tidy up, the kitchen to rescue, clothes to sort for tomorrow and I'd better have some food. Cat and fish look hungry too....
So I'll probably be on here all evening prevaricating

aubergenie - I don't think that your doctor will do anything for the tail end of a cold. Ds also sounds snotty (in a high up in the nose and frog in the throat kind of way) at nighttime, but I reckon that it's just because their noses/sinuses are so little still that there isn't a lot of room for stuff to get out easily.
I honestly doubt that this is the reason that S is waking every hour though. It sounds to me like he is waking at the end of every sleep cycle (1 hr 10-15 mins chez CSWS), and just doesn't know yet how to get himself back to sleep. Somehow you need to teach him this. Can you do your rocking back to sleep in the night to try and prolong the cycles too? Sounds a very draining idea, but no-cry suggestions are thin on the ground.

I like the idea of meeting at the beach by Ronshar. That's Brighton way isn't it? It's a longish trip for us, but trains do actually go direct (unless they've changed since St Pancras International opened) from my local station. This is all assuming that I am not at work of course. Otherwise I will only be able to do it at the weekend.
I'm up for meetups pretty much anywhere really, as long as there is something to entertain dd too (or it's a day when she's at school/holiday club and dh is available to pick her up).
If anyone fancies a trip to the zoo, Whipsnade is up my way and a good day out.
Or Woburn Safari Park, though that's a bit further for you Londoners.

Eek for hives Ekka. Nice new floor is good though . Poor lamb does sound so sensitive.

Sunhats not popular with ds at the moment either. I put a bandana on him yesterday, which lasted just long enough for a photograph! It looked a bit harder to get off than a hat, but obv not hard enough!

Glad ds is fine Rachie.

Aubergenie - Sun tent arrived today. It's great! All 4 of us sat in the garden under the lovely poppies. It wasn't too hard to assemble either, (once I read the instructions ).

Oooo - just noticed that The Runaway Dinner was on Coronation Street.

Sorry about that - M loved the sun tent and I could happily sit in it all day! It is difficult to fold back down but I am sure I'll get the knack eventually.

Forgot to say congratulations Bethoo - You're going to be one very busy very tired lady!

Jenwa - Surely you burn about 3000 calories a day with all that cleaning!

Hi all,

Hope you are enjoying the weather. Joe got bitten by midges today and now has a line of 4 red marks on his forehead. One got under his hat brim as i saw him rubbing his forehead and there was a little blighter bting holes out of him - poor darling. his suncream is supposed to be insect repellant but i must have missed a bit.

Star - Have you tried rolled up towels down the sides of the cot to stop him rolling? A cot bumper really does very little at this age and usually they can get under it anyway... Joe hates ling still now for nappy changes as well and tries to back flip over. I have a toy that Joe only gets at nappy changing time, which usually distracts him for long enough.

Pepper - yes i have just finished tidying/cleaning/sorting too after ds1, (aka the whirlwind) who has been very busy today and there was stuff scattered everywhere - i don't know how he does it..

Congrats Bethoo, 2 weeks is a long wait but i'm sure it'll pass quickly enough with 2 DCs to entertain.

CSWS - I'm confused about this sleep cycle thing. When S has a nap, he only naps for 30 minutes (I could set my watch by him) but I was able to extend it for another 40 minutes today by rocking him back to sleep. At night he seems to wake every hour 15 mins - hour and a half. So what is the length of his sleep cycle, do you think? Is it 30 minutes or an hour and 15 minutes?

Either way, I think you're right about him not being able to settle himself back. As soon, as he wakes he screams his head off. I can usually rock him back to sleep fairly quickly, but getting him back into the cot can be tricky, as he'll often scream when I put him down. He was just starting to settle himself sometimes before he got ill and now it's all gone to pot again. I can only carry on as I am doing really, and try and teach him some good sleep habits. He doesn't feed to sleep any more - I put him in the cot when he's just awake. I don't know what else to do. Back at work in a month - I've got to see some improvements by then.

Sorry- that was a bit of a me, me, me post.

Poor Joe with his midge bites. Is that a constant problem where you are Loulou?

I LOVE the sound of that tent MM. I might get one of the smaller ones for the garden and our holiday.

Actually MM, you're the font of all knowledge for good websites. Do you know any good ones for good fathers day presents? I'd love to get dp a "Worlds Best Dad" mug or something similar, but wouldn't mind getting quite a stylish one. Have you come across anything like that during your surfing? Don't worry about it if you haven't, I thought I'd ask just in case you've seen something.

Ooh we've got a sun tent too, your's sounds nicer MM with poppies on, ours is just from Argos but very good. It was so nice to be in the garden with Jack and not have to keep moving him into various bits of shade!

Loulou sorry to hear about the bites. I hope they don't upset Joe too much.

I'm also looking for a good Fathers Day present so any ideas would be great. Tried to look for t-shirts on the web today but couldn't find any I liked. I wanted a daddy type one but all the ones I saw were a bit cheesey.

gosh i've missed loads this week.

don't know if you all remember helping me pick a dress for a wedding we are going to, well i found out the brides colours are the same as the dress i was going to get so i had to get a different one this one
i was gutted, i loved the monsoon dress.

Any way as we were leaving the trafford centre alex took a funny turn, went white as a sheet and floppy. we rushed home but he seemed fine when we got there. he's had a temp since then on and off but we put it down to teething. sunday night he was screaming for 4 hours before he finally fell asleep at 11pm only to be up at 4am, 6am and 7:30am. so i took him to the dr yesterday and the poor lad has an ear infection he's on antibiotics but his temp has been between 37.4c and 39.6c all weekend, and this morning he woke up at 4:04am and we've both been up since then, i am vvvv tired. and he's woke up with a blocked nose and now is having trouble feeding.

i'm gonna drag us all to the park later, i will enjoy the sun if it kills me!

Heather - Sorry to hear about Alex. Ear infections are nasty, I got them a lot when I was a smoker. Not fun at all. Hope the antibioitics do their job. That dress is still lovely by the way. Purple looks good with red hair too. My aunty has red hair and wears lots of purple.

M was a nightmare last night. She woke up five times and wouldn't settle. I think she might have had a tummy ache though. It would be so much easier if she would just tell me, it's hard to keep guessing.

And I was going to confess something. DH's BIL left his fags here before going home to the States as I think they're going to try for a baby when they get back. DH can't resist free fags so he smoked them, but I wanted to test myself. I had a couple of drags on his fag (while M was in her cot asleep, I had a shower and got changed afterwards) and it was horrible. I won't be going back even if it could potentially help me shift some weight.

Sorry I disappeared last night. S woke every half an hour from about 9. He was crying and rubbing his face. We'd settle him and put him in the cot, and he'd seem to settle then start crying and rubbing his face again a couple of minutes later. DP and me were just looking at each other, at a complete loss as to what to do. By 2 I gave up and brought him in with me, as I've got to do some driving today. Lo and behold, he slept brilliantly, apart from a quick feed.

Poor Alex. Hope he's better soon. How annoying about the dress. That one is lovely too though!

Brilliant father's day suggestions. Thank you! I've also bought the Anthony Browne board book My Dad as he loves reading stories to S, and it's a really sweet book.

It's DP's 40th birthday the same weekend as father's day and he's a really difficult person to buy for, so I'm struggling.

jenwa feeling ok though last night i had a little spotitng and bad cramps but could have been through constipation as ok today. i have been getting red in my sorry TMI alert mucus stuff but i think it is because of the sex irritating my cervix! no sex last night and lo and behold no blood! i got my old doppler out (neverthought i would use that again!!) and i can hear a placenta swooshing but no hb which is not detectable til at least 11 weeks so prob between 9-10 weeks but hopefully by mw app i whould beable to locate it.
does anyone know if the placenta would still work if the foetus was no more??
