Thanks for the new thread

So far I haven't noticed any affect on DD at all. I started taking it about 6.30 pm but then paniked about DD and changed it to after her last feed, she then generally gets a bottle for the next feed whenever that is in the night and the breast from then on. I try and make it that its the longest she will go between feeds when I take it

I'm feeling a little tipsy, I went to the little shop near me earlier because I really fancied a strongbow sirus but they didn't have any so I ended up with a big bottle of pineapple bacardi breezer. It's really not as nice as I remember from when I was 14 It's times like these I wish I liked wine!

Ronshar - I'm going to answer you on this thread rather than face the wrath of CSWS. Poor W, too little to have german measles . I thought that your immunity stayed with them until they were 8 months? It does for measles which is why M didn't get it when ds did.

pepperrabbit · 03/04/2009 21:35

pineapple bacardi breezer! we need a lying sideways for that one

Report
ronshar · 03/04/2009 21:41

Yes I am here too. That CSWS is just far too strict

I dont really know about the immunity thing. I have had a look on the tinternet and it seems to be passed really easy. By talking, sneezing, coughing etc. I am frantically trying think of anyone I have been with who could be pregnant!

I would love to have a few drinks but I dont get enough sleep to sleep it off Bacardi Breezer, surely it has to be a Smirnoff Ice?

Good luck to Jrsqueak for her big day tomorrow. I hope it is good weather and it all goes well.

How long does german measles last for ronshar? Will you be housebound for a while?

Report
Marthasmama · 03/04/2009 21:46

I know I'm a bit scared of her, but I expect she'll like that

Ronshar - This is from the NHS website. I didn't link as there was loads of irrelevent stuff. "Newborn babies are often immune to certain diseases, such as mumps, measles and rubella. This is because protective antibodies are passed to them from the mother's placenta. However, immunity usually only lasts for a few weeks, or months, although in the case of measles, it may last up to a year.

Rubella is highly contagious
The rubella virus is highly contagious, so it is very important for children to be vaccinated at an early age. Early immunisation against the rubella virus will provide protection against infection during childhood. As the immunity acquired at birth can last for up to a year, the MMR vaccination is usually given at around 13 months of age, followed by a booster injection before the child starts school (usually when they are between 3-5 years of age)."
But clearly that didn't work for poor W!

I didn't see any smirnoff ice in there Xmas Sad I drink so infrequently and really fancied a drink so I bought the only thing they really had apart from beer and wine.

Purpleflower the GP said about two weeks and he should be fine. I guess I shall have to be very careful about where I go. The problem is the Easter holidays start today so I have two children to entertain!

Thank you MM. I didnt know that.
I want to know where it came from. i dont think I know anyone who has it. I told girls at pre-school this afternoon. They dont know of anyone who has it? Mystery

Ronshar - I think it takes a few days for the rash to come out. Plus the spots can sometimes disappear in a matter of hours. So a child at pre-school could have had German Measles, got a rash and by the time they got home it could have gone. So the parents would just assume it was a cold. It doesn't wipe you out in the same way measles does so it's more difficult to spot.
