Hi all, can I join? (Only 15 months late I know! I just realised that there was such a thing as a Jun 07 post natal thread ). DD was born 7th June 07 and we're expecting dc2 at the end of Oct, so will have about 17 months between them.

Have to dash and put dd to bed now, but will check in later

I'm in a similar situation to you in that DD was born at the beginning of June and my DS2 is due on 6th November...likewise 17 months. Am scared witless about it, even more so as it gets closer and closer

Poor old L she has got bad nappy rash again - must be teeth - she woke up several times last night crying - hence me feeling worn out today.

Got the results of my blood tests today - all ok , so no medical reason why I MC. But I knew that from 3 yrs ago when I had the tests done then. Still doesnt help really. Next time I get pg theyre put me on heparin apparently.

ekka, most of us have been talking for nearly two years now so we must be like a well baked quiche, but do just jump in with both feet. We are all lovely!

DH and I are wondering whether to get a double buggy at all. We have two singles that we can use at weekends and when I do the school run I can have DD in the buggy and virgil in the sling....save us £400 on a Phil and Teds, which will really only be used for the school run and the odd bit of me wandering round the shops (but then again, we will have no money so not a lot of that will be getting done!)

Thanks all! I can't believe I hadn't realised MN had post natal as well as ante-natal clubs!!!

I'm getting more tired now and like you Daisy, getting a bit nervous. We're looking to put dd with a childminder for a couple of afternoons a week, so am busy trying to sort that out, and feeling guilty that as a SAHM I'm wasting our money on that, but with no family near dh has insisted that we do this for at least the first few months and then if I feel I can cope after that we can always take her out again....

Btw - where are others dcs on the speaking front? If my mother 'just mentions' that my sister and I had a vocab of over 100 words by 18 months again I may actually throw something at her . DD bless her uses 'da' for most things at the moment! Though today she did actually say 'car' . Am really hoping that she learns to express herself soon as she is getting soooo frustrated at the moment!!

My DD (the Jamlet) says Da for most things too! It can be very frustrating (for both of us) and like you, I hope she expands her vocab soon.

Daisy, saving money on a double buggy makes sense. But could you get a 2nd hand one cheap so you do have one for if the weather's grotty or you're really tired and don't want to use a sling? Even if it's not a grand P&T (and I truly love mine) it might help? Or how long before DD can stand on a buggy board or similar? If it's not too long you might well get away with single + sling.

My head hurts. Too much stuff to process atm. Going on holiday on Saturday, so planning packing, thinking about documents we need, directions, stuff I need to buy etc etc. Also thinking about DH's work and new nursery for Jamlet, and today had a bloke in at the children's centre giving info on tax credits and stuff and he told me loads of stuff I'd not thought about before which might be important once DH finishes work. Plus I need to make dental appointments, hair appointment, asthma clinic appointment .... Aaaaah!!

the childminder is a great idea Ekka. I have some long forgotten about childcare vouchers left, maybe I should look into something like that for DD...even if it's for a few hours a week.

some are speaking lots, some aren't. It just varies. My DD is one of the noisy ones, and even if you can't quite understand what she is saying, she babbles, constantly and very loudly, from wake up to go to sleep. It is starting to do my head in slightly. Her brother really encourages her and repeats everything she says back to her....maybe that's why she is picking things up quickly? Her insistence that DH is now Mum is very funny though and has really shattered my illusion that she is a child genius

Dh is taking voluntary redundancy Ria. He works until end October, then goes off with an extra months pay + redundancy pay, so quite a good deal. Hopefully he can find something else before that lot runs out! If not we start using his savings (phew! for having a wise DH who has such a thing). Then last week he pointed out the Jamlet's nursery is next to his current work, so chances are we will have to find her a new one. I went to look at one by my work today, which was very nice, but £50 per month more than we currently pay.

I am very on the whole job front ATM. Yesterday I actually burst into tears while I was bathing baggins. It's so bloody frustrating and I am really pissed off with the hotel DH does most of his temping for.

Hi Norty. Glad you're feeling better. It could be the tablets, or even just the knowledge that you're doing something and they'll kick in soon might just take the edge off things? But who cares why really?

I'm off to bed now though. DH is keen on . I kind of am, but my stiff neck and sore head aren't helping. I wonder if I can get him to give me a nice neck/shoulder massage first?

norty, I found that after having taken ADs before, even though it was a while before; they seemed to start working quicker the secind time I started to take them. Maybe your bodty "remembers" them, or maybe as Jammy says you know you will feel better soon, so you start to feel better already......either way it's a win win situation

BTW - anyone using a duvet yet for their LO? DD is growing out of her sleeping bags and I'm wondering if its a good time to get used to a duvet and pillow before moving into a bed in due course? All previous experiences welcome!
