Thought I'd start a new thread before we ran out of space! Couldn't remember the exact name suggestion so have paraphrased, the sentiment is still the same though...

It works PP

Very pleased to report that S went down at 7pm ish last night for a nap and stayed asleep till his late evening feed Fingers crossed its not a one off. He's been very grumpy today though but it was bliss last night.

Mamawizz can you express so that your DH can do the late evening feed and let you get to bed earlier?

Haven't expressed for 2 days now and boobs not sore. For those on formula, how long before you felt your boobs back to 'normal'. Desperate to get back into underwire bras now, but dont want to go for a fitting to check size until they've settled down.

TGF hope you enjoy your girlie lunch today. I've got my first solo outing tomorrow night.

Morning all! Had a reasonable night last night - DP was doing the early morning feed (anywhere between 5 and 7). We have decided that whoever does the middle of the night feed at weekends should be able to sleep in as long as they like in the morning. I left DP yesterday to sleep but this mornign when it was my turn for a lie in he came in at 9 with tea and toast - supposed to be a nice gesture (he NEVER does anything like this) but clearly it was to get me up! I could hear baby screaming anyway so decided it was time for him to get a little mummy love.

Hope everyone3's enjoying the Olympics - one gold for us today!

Hi all - we've had a busy few days and haven't managed to post.

Sympathies to those of you with extended feeding sessions, must be exhausting. Sometimes when A is acting like he is still hungry, I put in his dummy and he is happy with that. I think he just likes sucking!

We're still on very broken sleeps during the night. The evening session is good, usually 3-4 hours, but then max. 2 hour sleeps after that . So I'm permanently exhausted these days. Also after the night feeds it is impossible to get A to sleep in his basket, and even sometimes getting him to sleep in the bed with us is hard as well. It's like he's determined to stay awake during the night, although he sleeps v well during the day!

Had the MIL over the other night. She always manages to say something to wind me up. This time I had my sling on and she asked where I got it. I said on the internet and she said 'you'd think they could have sent you a nicer colour'. Thing was I'd ordered that colour - she is so rude. Also she said A had pointy ears and that you could tell he was my baby as he has chubby cheeks . Don't all babies have chubby cheeks!

I'm watching the Olympics too amber - good good to have something new to watch while sitting on the sofa!

Well done PP.

DQ, hurrah for better sleep from S, fingers crossed for tonight.

Katyjo - 6 months! . Flippin' heck yet ANOTHER thing no one tells you til it's too late. I think I am going to write a book of all these things!! I wasn't expecting my bits to ping back into place after a couple of weeks, but I didn't think it would take that long either. Ah well, at least I don't feel that there's something seriously wrong now - ta!

Sybil - ouch - I noticed a red patch a couple of nights ago, and I expressed, even after a feed. Luckily it has disappeared, but I'm not sure if it was just a side effect of thrush or the treatment. Hope you can get it sorted pronto.

Mamawizz, during the day I don't put B in his crib - he either falls asleep in his swing (love it - handed on from a friend and tis truly brilliant), in his chair on on the sofa - we have one with a chaise longue-y bit on the end, and that has become his hang out. For the moment anyway - will have to find another spot when he starts rolling. My thinking is to make a difference between day sleeps and night sleeps, so when he goes in the crib, it's time for a long sleep.

Have had a nice morning - B has been asleep for a couple of hours, so have been able to eat, tidy up a bit, and do a bit of cooking for tonight and the freezer.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday.

TGF and Neenz - what's this vibrating recliner and what's fab about it? I think I missed all the chat on this as it was during S's early weeks when I had newborn brain (an advanced stage of pregnancy brain).

Hi everyone

Thanks for the new thread PP

Anyone else getting dehydrated breastfeeding, for the last 2 days I've had awful headaches and I can only think that it's from breastfeeding in warm weather - what do you think? I'm trying to drink whenever I sit down to feed him and see if it works.

bdq... how is it going with non expressing? like you its second day since not expressing and 5th since cutting down...boobs seem not to be leaking but think its a little way til underwired bras (maybe a week or two)...have to say its a real relief as the lump now stablised

allnewsorry to hear re mil on top of disturbed nights..am with you and Amberabout being delighted olympics is on to entertain us at night.

Edie in her big cot alone last night (Well isay that but its prob only 2 metres further to dh as she is only across the hall) -seems to really like it as slept from 9-3.30 then 4.30 til 9 in it... makes a huge difference not to have weight lifting noises although am a bit up/down to check on her as still feel bad that she is in her own room before 6 months (although not sure short of co sleeping how we'd have kept her in our room as she is defo too big for moses basket).

BDQ - at underwired bras. Just when your boobs are at their biggest, you have the least support. Amber - I remembered you mentioned you'd found a great underwired nursing bra - was it an elle mac one?

Speaking of lack of support, DH driving me mad. Will not understand that being quiet when LO asleep doesn't mean banging around is fine as long as you whisper. He was really crappy on Friday and I'm finding it really hard not to respond negatively to everything he does since. And he gives me so much ammunition.... It's easier to look after the LO by myself that with him around - and I don't mean he changes/feeds/holds him wrong or anything as obviously stereotypical as that. We're just walking on eggshells round one another right now which is really stressful. When I say anything about it, he says sorry before I've even finished. So neither of us get to really say what we're feeling or what's wrong....Sorry for the rant, but I needed that.

Allnew - at your MIL.

Poppy its going ok so far, I'm quite suprised. I thought it would be more painful and leaky. Am wearing my pregnancy bras at the mo but able to put them back on the tighter hooks so my rib cage is definitely heading back to normal. Boobs still much bigger than pre-pregnancy so I thought I'd wait another week or two before getting a fitting to check size. Got a wedding in a fortnight and I'm definitely wanting new outfit and underwired bra! Thankfully, I didn't wear the most expensive feeding bra that I bought so I can exchange that for something nice. A little treat, hurrah!

PP sorry to hear about DH. I've gotten a bit frustrated with DH a few times but its usually because I'm a bit frazzled (I dont mean that's the same for you obviously). Have tried to remember that he's just learning how to look after a baby too and I get more practice because I spend more time with S. When LO is asleep and you're both a little less stressed is it worth trying to sit down and talk about it then?

Deb when I was expressing very regularly I was getting a lot of headaches which was down to dehydration. I'd recommend having a really big drink of water just before starting bf, and then have another large glass to sip on while bf. It can take a day or two of really cranking up your liquid intake to get rehydrated properly. Blood sugar levels can contribute to headaches too - are you getting the time to eat regularly? Small snacks throughout the day can help.

allnew sorry to hear about your unbroken sleep. Are you getting the chance to have a nap during the day if he's sleeping then?

deb my GP told me to drink more than I think I need to. I am getting bored of water but don't want to rot my teeth with squash.

Hi there - may I join this thread?

I was posting (a bit) on the May antenatal thread, but then ds decided to wait till 12 June to make his appearance.

Since then I've been checking into this thread most days so thought it was about time to de-lurk and say hello. Hello!

I'm breastfeeding him without too many problems (barring a few blocked ducts, which were awful). He's just starting to gurgle and coo and have 'conversations' - just adorable!

Welcome ampster

I'm another one who's baby didn't stick to the due date. My EDD was 1st July so mainly posted on there but now I sit on the fence and post on both.

'Sorry about the blocked ducts but glad to hear the BF is still going well. I had to abort after 4 weeks as my milk all but dried up. Luke wouldn't latch onto me due to tongue tie so had to give him EBM.

Is this your first? I'll see if I can find the list of us so please feel free to add yourself and other details.

Just added me in. DS clearly lulled us into a false sense of security as he's returned to screaming tonight. However, only for about 2 hours so a definite improvement. There's also been quite a few occasions now where he has quite happily amused himself in his moses basket for quite a while without crying so everything going in the right direction.

Knackered though, off to have a cuppa and chocolate eclair (weight watcher one though!)

Blimey, you guys have been chatty today!

sybil sorry to hear of your blocked duct - it really is grim - I have some in both sides still, one really near my armpit which I can't seem to shift.

katyjo I didn't take ab for my mastitis last time - it cleared with feeding and expressing and that seems to have done the trick again this time. But I've got a prescription just in case..

I realise I've been whinging a lot recently, but I should also say I'm always grateful that Storm is such a cheery baby - she only really grumbles in the evening or when she's poorly - otherwise she's sweetness and light - hard to settle sometimes, but aren't they all!?

We did a formula feed with hungry baby aptimil for her last feed last night and, although she was v windy (thanks to DH's bottle technique ) she fed till 12.30 and then went till 5am for her next feed, which almost felt like a whole night's sleep - going to stick with it.

My girly lunch was FAB - great to see my friends - I wore makeup for the first time since Storm's birth (!) and a dress and Dune heels (little ones) and felt v SATC and like my old self again. Must do something like this more often - it was lovely.

amber cute pic!

DQ Hope your outing goes well. Re the vibrating recliner. this is the one I've got but there are all sorts out there. Ebay deffo worth a look as they really are only usable up to 20lbs or so.

allnew storm has the chubbiest cheeks I've ever seen - who cares?! MILs are a PITA...

PP don't feel bad for ranting - it's good to get it off your chest here rather than letting rip.

Ok, off to buy shoes on ebay with the money I made from FINALLY selling my birthing pool (£60!)

Tjuice and Amber - great photos.

BDQ - thanks for the advice re drinking before and during bfeeding, but the bit about finding time to eat made me splutter my water over the keyboard - I would have to be seriously busy to not have time to eat. I wish I couldn't find the time - I feel my baby belly will be still here when Ethan's 18

Allipalli - I'm bored of water too and had a glass of squash today for a change (when the boys weren't around - they're not allowed it!)

Welcome Ampster - Ethan is also starting to have little conversations - so gorgeous, but apparently when I went out shopping yesterday I missed his 1st real giggle

When they recognise you and smile it makes all the sleepless nights and sore boobs worth it!

I'll try to get a smiley photo on my profile too

Just added myself in above. Thanks for suggestions re naps and expressing! I think I will probably carry on using moses basket downstairs for daytime naps until he grows out of it (which will be quite soon, I think), then move him upstairs (with curtains open - good idea).

Went to the ceramic cafe in Kew today to make footprint bedroom door sign and handprint mug, as got a voucher for new baby present. Very funny to see the look on Theo's face as the lady painted Caspar's foot blue!
