thanks for new thread twinkle

sorry not been on in ages, had lots of catching up to do

bloss - glad work is going well

twink - how funny aidan is getting known around town

first - congrats on your wedding, how lovely

spin - glad to hear roshi is settling now, hope your manic time is over soon so you can chill out and enjoy happy belated birthday to chili

impy - have a fantasric time in london, couple time - aahh

we are all good here, charlotte is running around all over the place, into everything. Starting to say more but still no mama, i get either dada or tada

Got all my xmas shopping except for little things for dh. we're not getting charlotte too much as she'll have plenty from everyone else (think my mums been shopping like crazy for her) got her a teaset/pots & pans set, little people set, wooden blocks and jigsaws. wanted to get her aquadraw but dh said it was overpriced so have got her the minimat ones instead. what has everyone else got for their lo's?

im needing to make more of an effort to get to more toddler groups since im a full time mum, ive no mummy friends so can be quite isolating during the week. going to phone up today to try and get her a place in the little gym group, just annoying not being able to drive when these things are far away. Hate buses with buggies, missed my stop yesterday as people wouldnt move to let buggy past and bus driver tutted and asked how I managed to miss the stop - aaarrrggg!!!!

Anyhoo I better go for now, charlotte seems to be having a lie in today but sure to be awake any minute.
Have a lovely day all xx

Oh good, new thread, old one was taking ages to load (and I know it would prob be faster if I put it on the 'new' settings, but I just don't like it!)

So frustrated this morning, sleep gone bandy AGAIN. I put him down awake, he has a good bedtime routine, he has a good afternoon nap etc and he STILL has a 2 hr patch in the middle of the night where he is wide awake. Screams if we put him on his own, wriggles about in our bed (but not screaming) if he's in with us. Do babies get insomnia?

Better take what's left of my tattered brain cells and try and do some work...

ceebee74 · 04/12/2007 10:00

Twinkle - thanks for the new thread - love the title!

Mae - am sure babies do suffer some form of insomnia - if adults get it why wouldn't children???

Bloss - glad the first day went well - it will get easier from now on (and probably a hell of a lot busier which is not always a bad thing as the days go so much quicker). Completely sympathise on the travelling back to pick the DS's up - my journey from work is 20 minutes on a good day with no traffic but I always leave dead on 5 as my worst fear is being stuck on the motorway and not being able to pick Josh up - and if DH is away, there is no-one else who can collect him. Besides, these days, it seems to take me at least 35 minutes every night as some people just seem incapable of driving in the dark on the motorway

Spin - how did Chilli's birthday go? What did you do?

Well, had fun yesterday - not! My parents came for the day - they have probably seen Josh about once a month (on average) since he was born as they don't live local - but the minute they walked in the house, Josh burst into tears and scrambled onto DH's knee! He would not give my mum a cuddle, he wouldn't let her read him any books (even though that is his most favourite thing ever) and was just generally clingy to me and DH all day - I felt so sorry for my parents as they don't see him that often! He has never been like that before with them so who knows what was up with him yesterday?

Still no news of my brother's baby - she is 5 days overdue now!! Oh how I remember that feeling

Anyway, it is chucking it down here so not sure if I will be doing the shopping trip I had planned - hope you all have a good day

ceebee - charlotte has started to get like that recently if its someone she doesnt see often. my friend came over to visit last week with her dh, charlotte sees my friend often and is fine with her but hadnt seen her dh in months, she screamed for ages then sat on my knee for most of the time they were here. You feel bad for who they wont speak to but I guess its just something some children go through. when its the grandparents though.

Hi girls,

Yes thanks for the new thread, Twinkle, or Rwinkle, as Wallace's pet name for you is... what's that telling us, I wonder...

Beadmum, hi! LOL at 'we're not getting charlotte too much', and then the list of stuff!! Dunno what we're getting Kayley yet. We have a Baby Chou Chou that we were going to sell on eBay, but it's not the Mummy Make Me Better one, (DH didn't read it properly when he bought it, though he was well chuffed cos he thought it was so hard to get). I don't really like those baby doll type things. So she'd only be getting it, cos we can't get rid of it. Not nice Daddy.
Might just go to ToysRUs and pick something out there.

This morning, I told Joey we could write his letter to Santa tonight, and what would he like Santa to bring on Christmas morning.
'Another Christmiss tree'!! Bless him.
'And we can ALL have chocolate cake'

Bloss, well done on your first day back. Hope it's going well today. I think 'work' tend to understand when you have kids that you have to go, so try not to worry too much.
Glad the boys enjoyed nursery.

Mae (love the Xmas name btw), I'm with you on the sleep thing too. The last couple of nights, K has been so clingy and wakes and screams for no apparent reason and just goes back to sleep after a few minutes, as long as she's attached to my neck.
She has been a bit ill, so I've not been too strict . But like Dom, she wriggles and jiggles and sits on my head, and pulls my hair. Half the night, I'm hanging off the edge of the bed... Last night I was so fed up with it, it's like, WHEN the f**k am I ever going to get a decent night's sleep.

So funny in the mornings though, 'Get Down' she says, so shes lowers herself off the bed and toddles off into Joey in his room. Then you hear the little conversation going
'Oh, Mimi, what you doing?'
'Get down'
'Where's Daddy?'
'Da'
etc etc, and lots of giggling...
Sweet, but tiring...

So let's see what tonight brings. More of the same I expect...

Right, best do some work...

I love your xmas names. Not much goes with kbaby.
Ive missed you all. The floor took ages to be finished and DH only put the pc back together on Friday then to top it all ive been in hosp having a sinus operation so its only today that I feel human again.

Bloss I hope your first week is going well.

DS is finally saying more words. His favorite thing at the moment is to come and get DD and then he pushes a big digger while she pushes his walk along and they race through the living room, dining room into the kitchen and hall and back again in one big lap. Its fun to watch then but god is it noisy.
He has also discovered that you can push things into little holes in the walls and electric sockets, take the skirting boards off, get the bathroom stool and put it against the kitchen worktops to get whats on top, put things down the toilet, write on walls and anything else he shouldnt be doing.
I dont know if its a gender thing but DD was never as destructive as he is. Im dreading putting my tree up, it wont have a decoration left on it!!

Weve also started driving round the streets looking at all the xmas lights and he sits in the back going 'ohh' 'look' at every light. Very sweet.

Hello to everyone

hi all

well done bloss! sorry i'm too late for best of lucks

not much to report here - jacob teething again and also a la toby he is refusing to sleep on his own again... takes 3 goes in general and then last one he pretty much falls asleep in my arms. he also has a nasty cold which is stopping him from sucking his thumb properly as he can't breathe through his nose. he's walking well but still not saying very much.

hope everyone else all well and impy you enjoyed the weekend - or is it this one coming?

we have a pile of stuff for jacob, it's just ridiculous, I'm just hoping parents and PILs don't get too much.

Thx for new great-named thread Twinkle!

Hi SoHappy, Bead, Kbaby and all other less regular posters.

OK CB you've totally freaked me out about Josh's clingey-ness.... Ry sees his grandparents even less frequently - and they're arriving tomorrow to look after him while I'm in London - what if he decides he doesn't like the look of them???!!! Ahhh! We Skype quite a bit so I'm hoping he'll recognise them...

Glad work is going ok Bloss. Maybe your boys will sleep better after an exhausting day at nursery? Finger's crossed.

Right must head to bed. Been frantically cleaning the skirting boards for MIL inspection....

hi spin!!! glad to hear things are going a little better for you. and chili's meltdown sounds outstanding - particularly coupled with the statement afterwards!

jacob is currently pulling anything he can along after him - old fashioned spinning top, wooden alligator, buzzy bee, my ballet flats

also another tooth has appeared towards the back, and still more lumps are showing! mouthful of teeth by christmas i bet! we're going to overtake everyone with them now i think - slow to get going but then watch out!!! just like his ma

any suggestions for christmas name for me, and i like santakbaby - great idea for you!

saw santa today for the first time - he wailed and wailed and wailed!!!!! wouldn't sit on santas knee, so i had to sit with him and he wouldn't let go of his muslin or take thumb out of mouth . but we still got a photo done!

hi everyone else - where are you all it's really quiet!

and impy - i'll send my MIL to you at christmas - she'll happily clean all your skirting boards, once she's finished clenaing my house from top to bottome without being asked and just taking over grrrr - particularly given we have a cleaner every week...

shhhhhhhhhh, first MN post at wor, god I'm bored, no territory given to me yet so am really finger twiddling, yawn. Only half an hour of my working week left to go though, then no more hooning around in the dark to do collections that will be nice.

Next week have to be in London three days straight so hooning will be even worse. Oh well, it is what it is.

Quick before I'm spotted! Think I've done well to hold off MN till now!

Working (or almost) Bloss

Morning all!

Lysette, I've been trying to think of a festive name for you, but can't really. I'm sure someone will come up with one! Do you want to include all three of you!?
I could only come up with ChristmasLysettes, as in Christmas Lights, but that's crap.

AnnieOneDrinkingSnowballs · 07/12/2007 11:17

Bloss, one week down, soon you will be thinking you've always been doing it. Hooning and all. You will be fine tuning your hooning.

Lysette was that the Harrods Santa? By the time I got round to it, it was all booked up. Bit slow off the mark, me. Your MIL sounds like mine, she would always clean the whole place when she visited, even under the bed! Since having babies though, she just concentrates on them now, so the place never gets cleaned. Though FIL does spent hours washing up two cups, and then putting all the clean stuff in the dishwasher. Used to really really annoy me, but I think my hormones have receded a bit now, so I just let them get on with it. It makes them happy.

Spin, great to hear from you, you busy busy bee!! Very belated Happy Birthday to Chili. LOL at his meltdown, and subsequent promises!

Impy, are you on your dirrrrty weekend now?!?! I thought I could hear some noises from the Travelodge as I passed this morning...

Still no xmas emoticons?? [xmashmm]

Well, two nights of disastrous sleep for us. Wed night, she slept in her cot til our bedtime, as is usual at the moment. Then woke screaming and scratching at five minute intervals thereafter. DH got up to take her out of the room, but was so frustrated with her scratching, and her fighting to get to me, we had a bit of a shouting match, and I ended up taking her to the living room and sleeping on the couch with her. I say sleeping, it was more dozing, shoving a bottle in her mouth, dozing, walking round the living room... anyway, last night I was so fed up of it, but I managed to get her back to sleep in her cot at our bedtime, not sure how long that lasted, but next thing I knew she was in bed with us again, and kicked off, DH just picked her up and went to watch telly! So I think he was up about an hour and then put her back in her cot, which lasted til this morning...

So I dunno if it's getting better or worse, but I do know I'm getting so fed up of having her in the bed that something has to change soon.
Bloke came yesterday to install the soft water, so let's see if that helps.

She had long black socks on her arms to stop her scratching. Would have been funny...

Anyway, best do some work...

o'h annie you poor things! and there's nothing like a good shouting match at the most inappropiate of times either is there dh likes to do that when jacob is really crochety.

as it turns out the two teeth we've had coming through in the last week or so are the start of his molars! only 6 normal teeth but he starts cutting his molars through contrary little lad.

not much else to report so have a great weekend everyone!

fab name Lysettes. But then I think Lysettes is a pretty fab name too!

Got nephew here for a sleepover tonight. All went down like lambs! Hope it lasts.

Annie - you poor poor things, things have got to change, you can't go on haing nights like that for too long. I'm amazed that you have lasted this long having to cling to the side of the bed etc. Hope you can sort it one way or the other, must be hell if she is itching too.

T woke at 1 last night, I refused to give him a bittle, cuddled him, left him, went back in gave him teething gel, left him, went back in gave him Mdised, left him and left him, hour and a bit later he went off. This morning I discovered that he was soaked through inside his gro-bag and had probably been like that since he woke at one. Am a shite mum, poor Toby.

Have had a lovely two days with the boys though, went for a walk at some local lakes this afternoon, making the most the weather, Toby looked at me, looked at the lake, looked back at me and then made a run for it into the water. Managed to retrieve him before the water got past his knees. little toe rag, He is SUCH a monkey, got a glint in his eye like you wodldn't beleive. His speech is really coming on too.

Got wine to drink. Mu "lie in" tomorrow morning should be interesting with Dh looking after 3........
