my ds is not much of a speaker - very active, gets whats he wants thru gestures etc...
but he is not using words..should i be worried?

Depends on his age.

Keep reading stories to him & singing songs & rhymes, he'll get there eventually. When he points to something he wants repeat it's name "You want the book? " etc.

Is he babbling at all-you know, making nonsense sounds that go up& down like normal speech?

If you ar worried why not have a chat with the HV & get her opinion?

He may just be a "strong silent" type!!

AH well he's on the way then don't worry, just keep chatteering to & at him & he'll get there!

I always remember a line from my ante-natal clas....

"you spend the first 2 years getting your darling baby to walk & talk & then the next 16 telling them to sit down & shut up" !!!

grin
