(2 Posts)Breastfeeding my 2 week old baby. She has somehow made the skin come off the end of my nipple. And the pain everytime she goes on now is excruciating. How can I heal it quick. Can I just breastfeed off the other boob. Please help
Yes. Breastfeed on the other while the wounded one heals. Make sure you express the wounded one to prevent engorgement and maintain supply.
To prevent this on the future apply lanolin balm and nipple compresses after every feed. You won't need to do it for a long time, but you need to do it well while your nipped are getting used to being sucked all the time.
Also, if it's the very tip of the nipple then make sure the baby is latching well as it sounds your dc may have a shallow latch
