And dairy-free too if needed.

It's not been the best month for a lot of Januaries has it?

logged on to new thread in time for chocolate!!!

I had a busy day yesterday and I've paid for it today, spent most of it resting in bed. Fortunately no pain any more just a horrible tight feeling in my scar (and my belly button is oozing a bit but hoping that will clear up rather than infected). Had to turn down an invite to a Virgin Vie party tonight so things must be bad

Yes let's hope things are better for us all this thread

trip to the doctors fro us today, and I thought it would eb a trip to A&E last night because I'd poisoned on of my offspring.

Ds3 has a wierd lump/ swelling on the side of his willy so I tld him I'd take him to the docs today. I gave him to nurofen last night because it was sore but idiot that I am wasn't concentraing and gve him twice the amount he should have. Rang NHS direct but it was choka block so called out of hours gp. He said not to give him any more pain killers at all tonight, he'll be ok etc etc but MN had already told me all tihs while I waited for him to call back.

Willy is still swollen and sore so will be off to the docs today...no doubt waiting fior a hour to be seen because they are shite at keeping appt times. It actually looks like it broken...swelling is all on one side so that its crooked.

LTH - hope he's ok.

Lo still having her morning nap so dh trying to get some jobs done. He's driving me potty!! Everything takes him twice as long as I could do it in and last night I walked into the bathroom to find her rolling around in her own sh**!!

Nice day here so going out this pm (trying not to overdo it again I really paid for the other day)

LTH - hope the doctor helps him

UD - well done, I cleaned out the kitchen and downstairs the other day as I was sick of all the clutter on the sides out there. Feel much better and looks better now.

canmummy - hope you're doing ok and take it easy. Weather is rubbish again here, meant to get better for the weekend though which will be nice.

We're planning on going to Gulliver's Land in Milton Keynes on Sunday so that should be good, been before and it's great for younger kids. Off to get Caitlin's school uniform tomorrow, left it a bit late really I think, hope the have her sizes. She's grown out of last year's quite a lot.

Poor LTHs DS3...thats like boys thrush isnt it?

I have a slug problem.
We've had them crawling around the living room for a while now. Not a big problem as LO doesnt crawl in that end of the room, and the slime trails (ugh) hoover up easily. BUT...drum roll please. This morning I was about to put LO into his high chair for his weetabix, when I saw the mother of all slugs looking at me from the top of it. He had slimed himself all over the highchair. I was not happy. We have a bowl of beer in the backgarden, which is supposed to be catching said slugs...so I dropped the biggest slug in the world into it ha ha ha! evil laugh. It died. Then I had to scrub all the slime off the highchair.
I am about to post a photo of this slug on the highchair. Please let me know if you cant see it, as I want people to be impressed that I actually picked it up (with kitchen paper) and wasnt a wuss. My photos are only available to MN friends, as there are too many troollie freaks around on MN at the moment, but if you want to see the slug and cant ... let me know and I'll add you in as a friend!
Also, if anyone has any other ideas about how to rid my house of slugs please let me know.
Apparently there are 4 TIMES as many slugs this year as last year. UGH

Slugs...what is the point of them???

Anyway, the way I got rid of our disgusting slimy visitors was to take off and the kick boards from te kitchen cupboard and empty several bottles of slug pellets under them.
We used to get them in the lounge too so I tracked the slime-line (I'm claiming that phrase as my own) back to a tiny hole in the skirting board and stuffed it with cotton wool.

That did the trick.

the reason I went to such measures was because when ds3 was ababy I came down stairs in the night to get him a bottle, walked into the dark kitchen and felt something cold on my foot.

Lizz, I'm afraid to say the slug that was kissing my foot made yours look like a tiddler.

I Fffff-reaked out!!!!

Poor baby ds3 had to wait for his milk while I scrubbed my foot in the sink.

Slugs are the most revolting thing on earth.

Oh God I HATE slugs! Yuck yuck yuck. One fantastic things about living in a flat is no slugs. We had bad slug problems in our old house in York though. Like LTH says we just did a combination of slug pellets and blocking off the (tiny!) spaces under the skirting boards.

Hope DS3 is recovering LTH. Hope he's still little enough to not be embarssased about willys!

Had a fab night out last night, just with DP, while my mum babysat here. We had a nice meal and lots of drinks and actually had a sensible discussion about the imporant stuff we've been avoiding, like where we want to live and having another baby etc. DP is paying off big credit card bills at the moment (left over from his decadent youth!)so we we going to stay where we are at the moment and move as soon as these are paid off and we can afford a reasonable mortgage. We also sort of agreed that we'd start trying to another LO when F is about 2 And to top off my lovely evening F slept til 9am this morning and gave us both a good lie in!

RGee Hope the wedding is good this weekend. Don't let DH get away with leaving you with LO all day! We had the same issues with staying in a hotel room with F and just ended up keeping him up late and then all going to bed together. Like the others said - i'd question the car seat thing again! Will you be getting a cab? Some cab companies will arrnage for a car seat when they pick you up.

i can't even look at that picture as i have major slug fear. it's the only thing i'm really phobic about! if that had happened to me i think i would have had to phone my mum and get her round to sort it out! so i'll have to take your word that it was the biggest slug ever!

stewed apple went down like a shitty stick this lunchtime, but he did have an hour and half nap, so i'm really hoping this means that he likes his cot where it is now. my mum's given me some cubes of roast lamb dinner so we'll try that tomorrow! i'm so very bored of this weaning thing now!

Lizz sorry but pmsl at the photo and about the slug trails. They really are pointless gross creatures. They sometimes stick to our fluffy cats tails and I have to de-slime them. (BTW, had a dead bird this morning. Long time no cat kill)

LTH - glad all was ok at the docs today.

Shimmer - sounds like you had a lovely evening. Did you talk about where you would move to ??

Thanks for all your advice re car seats. All transport is now sorted except the 20 minute journey back from the wedding to the hotel. It will be in a cab so we're going to try and find one with a car seat. I'm not entirely happy, but feel miles better that at least the other planned journeys are sorted.

So, what's everyone doing this Bank Holiday? Hope the weather is good - it's been boiling here today.

Slugs - ewwww. We get lots in this house too, I get dh to put them outside
Canmummy - hope you didn't overdo it today. I think men are universally slow and crap at housework!
LTH - hope the cream applying isn't too traumatic!
UD - I think if we have any more kids I'll wait until they're at least a year old before I bother my arse giving them food , it is a PITA! Didn't even bother trying ds2 with solids today since he outright refuses to take them from me
Been a gorgeous day here too, I swear it's because the kids went back to school on Tuesday. There's a big agricultural show here on monday (tractors, fire engines etc, no cows or sheep though this year because of F&M) but bloody work isn't taking the BH (we take some BHs and some local holidays) so I have to work. So the ILs get to take ds1 to the show. I've been looking forward to taking him all year - he really enjoyed it last year and I've known all year he'll get much more out of it this year. Mind you, I will have to go every bloody year until they leave home, so I suppose one year off shouldn't matter. But still
