Anyone else suffer from shoulder/neck pain from carrying LO?

My LO is now 14 months and since she was about six months old I've had shoulder and neck pain, on and off, but mostly on. Anyone else in the same boat? Sometimes it's so bad I find it hard to pick up my LO! I've got a small frame and never really did any weight lifting, but I've been given exercises by a physiotherapist to help (I also go for sessions regularly) but it's really taking so long to see any improvement. It's making me feel quite low, and wonder if I should be worried that I'm not seeing much improvement.

I did! When I read your title I actually felt the pain again though it's been years since.

What I did was some yoga...it REALLY helped. Could you look into that?

I did with my LO too, around that age.
Try carrying them centrally, front or back, in a carrier if you can borrow one short term.
It was carrying DD on my hip, the same hip, that did it for me.
I found that even if I just carried her on my front (like a massive cuddle) or a piggy back it improved the pain slightly.

I made the mistake of carrying ds on my shoulders when he was three and he had achy legs coming back from nursery. I think I did it for a couple of weeks and then, I don’t know what I did, but I was in agony. A trapped nerve or something. It lasted for months. As pp said, I can feel the pain now.

Thank you ladies. I'm sorry to hear you've suffered too, but it also makes me feel better knowing I'm not alone. I'll try more yoga and switching up how I hold my LO. THANK YOU!
