hello. thanks for setting up the new thread. No news here-just awful hay fever. Is anyone else watching Big Brother-can't believe I am watching it again

Major have you tried homeopathic remedies or bee pollen (start taking it in March so too late this year) or acupuncture? Must be horrid to have hay fever - ruin your summer. I just adore the smell of freshly mowed grass. I just get terrible bites in the summer - I am allergic to bites so get HUGE inflammed area and have to take anti-histamines.

Ooooo Puddings, referring to some thing sugary and sweet eaten after a main course, or the shape our bottoms resemble at the moment?

The only pudding Ive seen for a while is my wee dolly dumpling - took her to see all my old workmates today and old students and they were all saying how huge she is. She was 8 months yesterday. A far cry from the first few weeks where we were all worried sick as she lost so much weight. She is like her Mummy - A sturdy girl!

Have major PMT and my tum feels massive today - feel as am frustrated by very slow weight loss.

gingeme · 06/06/2007 12:07

Good afternoon ladies. Yes lo has 4 teeth now and is starting to combat crawl a little. Thankfuly he is also sleeping in a little later so if it carries on till Friday I think he can be moved in to his big brothers room
Oh no Bendyb poor Kai. Try some Bicarbonate of soda sprinkled in his bath. Dont think you can do much else. I remember using Piriton medicine with my lot but thats not till their a year old.
I have terrible hayfever now and cant actualy take anything for it being pg. Its driving me crazy. I t doesnt help that theyve been cutting the grass around our flats this morning.

Hi everyone - nice new thread!
Bendy-was it calamine lotion? Thats what I remember we used for chick pox.

Rumpel - i sympathise with your PMT; mine has been from hell this month. Hormones have a lot to answer for!

I went out to the cinema last night! Bloody expensive when you have to pay a babysitter but it was really nice still. Saw Jindobyne (spelling not right!) Has anyone else seen it?

We got back at midnight to Fergus crying & awake - he'd woken twice already.....psychic powers do you reckon?! He pulled up to standing yesterday & is now very proud of his new trick but he's scaring me with a new danger added to the list!

Gingeme: just a quick one - I had some acupuncture for my hayfever for the first time a few weeks ago - it is amazing - think you have had acupuncture before?

hope you are all well - I am now counting down, back to work next week. So both boys with childminder this week - I have spent the morning cooking for freezer - after lunch I tackle the mountains of paperwok that seem to pile up in every room - wish me luck!

B had his 8 month check yesterday - a little early at 7.5 months, but am not taking time off once back at work for this, it was ok, but learned nothing new - his weight was even approximate as he wouldn't stay still on the scales for it to weigh him properly!!

Report
catgirl · 06/06/2007 13:01

ohh, sorry, re chickenpox - some antihistamine medicine at night to stop itching (also knocks them out a bit!), plus calamine lotion mixed with aqueous cream and second the suggestion of bicarb of soda in the bath.

Report
Rumpel · 06/06/2007 13:29

Gingeme - Nelson do a homeopathic remedy for hayfever - you will be able to take when pg called POLLENA. Second the acupuncture though - it would be great for you just now to help your body/mind rebuild its strength and nourish you and the growing LO.

No crawling here, 2 bottom teeth, sat up herself for the first time last Thursday. My sterilizer broke so no sterilizing for us anymore - just pop her DTs and teats in boiling water.

GORGEOUS day here today so am in the garden trying to make it nice for selling the house. Have so much to do and it is only 5 weeks till we move My dissertation is soo not happening at the moment I really really must have a stern word with myself and try to get some reading done too many other distractions at the mo though.

Well Lo is sleeping (awake at 4.30am this morning cause of noisy cat shouting) so must get on and do some work.

Forgot - RE CHICKENPOX try putting an eggcupful of milk with 1 drop of pure lavender oil in it into babys bath, should help with itching and sleeping. Make sure it is good quality oil though - Tisserand or Lothian Herbs. Boots or Holland and Barrett are not bad either. Calamine lotion is the thing most people use. If any scabs are picked and you think they are going to scar - massage vitamin e oil into the area and it will helpr to reduce any scarring. Meanwhile sending him healing vibes xxx

Thankyou catgirl and Rumple but I realy cant afford acupuncture at the moment. Got a new baby to save for.
I had some stuff my pharmacist suggetsted last year which did quite well. It was like a nasal spray but a powder which coated the insides of my nostrils. No drugs or medicine in it. Didnt stop it completely but certainly helped. Popped into to see him yesterday and he said they are changing the packaging so its on order. Hes going to ring me when he gets it in. Lovely man.
Anyone make any suggestions for a meet up next week? I need some girly conversation. My friend had a baby boy Sunday night(she has 2 girls) and he weighed a whopping 9lb 1 half ounces. She had a water birth and no other pain relief. Clever girl.

Yeah it was calamine lotion that my mum said, dp is bringing some home with him, will try the other stuff aswell. He seems fine so far, he's been really happy 2day.
They will prob start to irritate him soon though i bet!

I dont need to take him to docs do i? nothing they will do for him is there?
I thought i shouldn't really take him out coz of other people catching it???

No teeth here and no crawling either! shes doing a weird bouncing forward on her hands thing when she sits up, like she's trying though. and when shes on her back, rolls over and trys to do a shuffly commando crawl type thing, she moves, but its takes ages for her to get any distance lol. ah well, they all do things differently and at different rates dont they

gingeme - hope your heyfever eases soon!

Bendy that your lo has chicken pox, no advice I'm afraid, but the others have by the looks, so hope its goes soon x

rumpel - yuch, pmt is horrible isnt it. try not too feel down re weight loss...slow weight loss usually means that it will stay off. so slow and steady wins the race, as they say

Ooooo the 'Pox'...you should have a pox party and we can all bring them round. The younger they are the better (from about 6 months that is).

Most of them recover quite quickly at this age so a few days and Kai should be fighting fit again (if not a little scabby...nice!)

am addicted to BB too. gripping. only bummer is i'm shattered every day because i usually go to bed way before.
lo is def. pudding shaped. you can actually see people wanting to pinch her cheeks when we're out.
the stair gate is in place. she was holding onto it this am like she was in her prison cell.
rumpel, have been teaching since easter but just got through first tutorial with students. have found it amazing that students behave much better when you're not so nice to them.
swizz have you changed your name?
bendy, poor kai, hope he's ok.
gingeme you sound like you're coping with the pg really well, well done.

Hi martahm. How old is your lo now? Is she pulling her self up now then? Yeah Im feeling ok just tired alot. The booby fairy has visited too. Have to hang on a bit longer before I go bra shopping though.
We went to a lovely place called Willow Farm Village today and the boys just loved it. They had a bit that was all guinea pigs and lo was enthralled by them. There were ickle baby ones too. All their hair was all messy. They had a sow with 14 little piglets suckilng. And we thought we had it hard with just one at a time.Lo is definately combat crawling now. Hes using a Tommee Tippee cup too and nearly lifts it to his lips. He had an eating day today. We took a pic nic and he had Dairylea sandwich, half a banana, some of my choc muffin,a 7 oz bottle and a bit of naan bread which dh took. Then for his dinner he had a large bowl of pasta in mushroom sauce a fromage frais and a little bit of ds3's ice cream and polished off 7 oz bottle just before bed. Im suprised he didnt go bang.
Anyway Im off to bed now. Were going to The British Museum.

hi all,

thats good about the house youngmum!

the chicken pox have mostly scabbed over now, he's been so good with it, dont think they've really bothered him much, hasn't slept as well as normal but other than that he's been fine.
Just hope they dont scar him!

He loves standing up when we are holding him,& can almost pull himself up, its funny watching him try!

gingeme, hope the pregnancys goin ok, & the hayfevers not too bad, aw ur lo sounds a right little piglet! Cant wait till kai's eating that much aswell!
I still get worried about choking when giving him sandwiches & stuff like that, i'll feel a lot better about it once he's got some teeth!

I'm addicted to big brother aswell!

Martha: yes, it's Swizzler here. Have added some new pics to my profile - can't believe how huge DS is now .

Gingeme: I'm free on Wed and Friday next week if you wanted to meet up (and anyone else who is around!). Did you enjoy the BM? I went last wekk - DS quite enjoyed it but got bored so we had to leave pretty sharpish with him shouting in his buggy at all the visitors!

DS can crawl backwards a bit and also shuffles about. No more teeth yet...
