Not sure if a thread exists already. If so, point me in the right direction.
Here's a place to celebrate our bundles of joy and find support for everything from stitches to breastfeeding, partners and sleep and anything else we may come across in the early days to challenge us!

Place marking! Will share more when I feel able!

Thanks for joining me. I'll start to get us going! It's been a tough start for me. I have 2 other dc, who I found very easy as newborns.
This time I haf a 3rd degree tear, so there has been pain! I am strugging more with breastfeeding, so I have sore nipples and am self conscious... reluctant to go out or have visitors. And now I have diarrhoea! The joy! Coupled with my birth injury it means when I have to go, I HAVE to go...
I think it might be a side effect of the pain medication, so I'm stopping that today.
My sister is coming today, and nobody's slept thanks to the 2 year old. My dh is struggling with tiredness and patience.
The baby is beautiful and absolutely thriving but this isn't easy!
Hope everyone is getting on well. Let us know!

Hi just a quick reply as didn’t want to read and run but just wanted to say hang on in there! Must be so hard with two dc already. I suspect you are doing better than you think. Hormones will be going crazy at moment too!

Just allow both you and your dh to have a bit of a rant/cry/strop if you need it and don’t take it personally. This won’t be forever and you will survive! Sleep deprivation is brutal isn’t it. If your sister comes perhaps she could take your older 2 to the park just so you could have an hour to turn off a bit?

Hopefully pain will improve quickly, as blood supply I so good down there! when I had tear last time it was awful but gradually got better and healed pretty well. (Try to have a bath to soothe it a bit)

Thinking of you! I’ll be there soon with my toddler. Sleep when the baby sleeps won’t be an option! We can do it though! Keep remembering it will get easier!

Crapbags Sun 25-Mar-18 08:51:23

Hello everyone just placemarking in the hope I can join you soon when my baby finally decides to make an appearance🙄

Sorry your having a rough time @blinkineckmum I’ll be with 3 soon too and the thought is pretty daunting. Have you tried arnica? Supposed to be good for healing I found some bath salts with arnica (in The Range shop) which I’ve set aside for after birth. You can also get oils/tablets/creams I think.

blinkineckmum Sun 25-Mar-18 09:42:08

Thank you both for the replies. Yes, much harder with other small children. I bought them a trampoline 'from the baby' so hopefully my sister and her kids can all be out in the garden with mine today. I am doing ok, just inpatient to get better!
Best of luck to you both x

My baby was born on Wednesday, he is doing really well. I also have a two year old girl. I am feeling the same way about breastfeeding blinkineckmum, I know I’m lucky to have family nearby who want to visit all the time, but really I’d prefer a bit of time to adjust to being a family of four!

blinkineckmum Sun 25-Mar-18 10:42:06

Congratulations Enariva! Let's hope we all get the hang of feeding sooner rather than later. Wishing you a quiet Sunday!

GWeatherwax Sun 25-Mar-18 17:50:08

Sorry to hear you've been struggling too guys. What is it about bf you've been struggling with?

I'm having a hell of a time. Finally been allowed home from hospital after going in Tues night, my supply hasn't came in properly so I had to agree to at least mix feed with formula. I've spent a lot of time in tears feeling like a failure...my nipples are bleeding and almost scabbed over. I've been pumping after every feed and only getting 2ml... although today my breasts feel bigger and the milk seems to have changed colour so maybe I should persevere? He feeds a lot! Big appetite.

But worst thing is my lovely wee boy isn't bringing up his wind so hasn't slept without somebody holding him as he won't go down on his back. I am exhausted and the only sleep I've had is through what other people have allowed me to ...

blinkineckmum Sun 25-Mar-18 18:57:26

Sorry to hear that GWeatherwax. That little boy needs you!
I have the opposite problem. I have oversupply of milk, so my boobs are constantly engorged and leaking. It makes it harder to get a good latch so my nipples are sore. But she is thriving!
I still have an upset stomach. Not sure what to do. Hopefully it will clear up on its own.

Hey guys. Coming over from the pregnancy thread and placemarking. Baby boy came on Saturday and have been bfing so far and waiting for milk to come in tomorrow or the next day. Just want to say it sounds like everyone is doing great and our babies are thriving, so just keep going and we will all get there.

blinkineckmum Mon 26-Mar-18 05:34:37

Congratulations MrsL2016. Enjoy the cuddles.

HalfStar Mon 26-Mar-18 14:10:52

Hi everyone. Was on the pregnancy thread and dropped off. Congratulations to all and well done to us all for surviving this far!

Dd3 is 2.5 weeks. We got her tongue tie cut a week ago and that's made a big difference to feeding. I had been very sore until then and weight gain had been a bit slow. Seems to be back on track now. So far she is doing much better at night than my other 2 dc who were crap sleepers.

Hope everyone's day going ok so far.

HalfStar Mon 26-Mar-18 14:14:45

G sounds really hard for you, my milk has been slow to come in each time also and I've given them all a little formula to get through until it does. It should hopefully be easier for you now that milk is in. Do NOT feel like a failure, these things are not in our control.

Ragdolly81 Mon 26-Mar-18 15:06:11

I just wanted to pop over and say thank you to everyone I don't think I could of made it through the last couple weeks of my pregnancy without everyone support. I had my beautiful little girl on Saturday at 11:06 she weighed 6lb 10 and I did it with the help of a student midwife who I came praise enough. Thank you everyone and congratulations on your little budles of joy xxxx

TheMrs04 Mon 26-Mar-18 16:26:57

Congratulations to all the new mummies!!

Here is little Oliver! Born yesterday evening with only 3 hours and 11 mins of labour only with gas and air 😬
We waited 12 hours to be induced and from the moment my waters broke the pains started and gravity did its job!! Would definitely recommend getting on all fours!!!
Right now we are waiting to be discharged from hospital! I'm ready for my own bed and to see ds1!!

Crapbags Mon 26-Mar-18 16:40:13

Ahhhhh beautiful babiessmile

I’m still without mine....but now hoping he holds on in there until Wednesday as tomorrow is my DD’s birthday and she’s not keen on sharing itwink but you know he’ll probably turn up and gatecrash the party on the day I’d actually prefer him not too!

blinkineckmum Mon 26-Mar-18 18:04:50

Thanks for the photos! Gorgeous! Here's mine:

Drizz Tue 27-Mar-18 12:45:47

Hello all! Gorgeous pics on here, it would make me broody if I didn't have my own lovely boy here already. Mine arrived on the 10th. Things have gone way more smoothly this time than the previous two kids. I had terrible troubles breast feeding (got myself hospitalised with mastitis after a week with number 1 and we can't quite recall how many recurrences there were with him and subsequently - again within a week - with his sister). So we made the hard decision not to try this time and it has made the world of difference. I have no fever and am not ill. Recovery is a gentle and continuous slope rather than bumps and set backs and antibiotics all the time. As a result no thrush (in me and oral with both previous babies). Of course our lovely boy is awake a lot at night, and his siblings are making the days more fun too So we're still newborn knackered. Thankfully they still go to nursery 3x a week, so Tuesday is me and baby time, who is currently asleep in his moses basket. The best gift I got on my birthday this weekend as a 1,5 hour nap while my mum kept the oldest entertained and an eye on the baby, while our middle one slept.

Ragdolly81 Tue 27-Mar-18 14:31:05

Oh its hard when you have other children. My 5 year old is currently ill just got over chicken poxs and now has a head cold. If my little girl wasnt such a good sleeper I dont know what I would do. My 14 year old has been a massive help cause I am on my own i am doing it all myself. So he has helped with house work and seeing to the 5 year old. Currently on day 3 so my emotions are everywhere and I cried at the secret life of pets lol. All the pics are gorgeous.

HalfStar Tue 27-Mar-18 14:55:27

Gorgeous pics all. And snazzy babygrows!

Drizz glad you are feeling much easier in yourself this time around. And 'newborn knackered' is a great way to describe this time. It's so weird to be doing it all again.

Ladies, do any of your lovely babies have baby acne yet? confused mine does, poor thing! Her skin is starting to look a bit angry. And right at the time when everyone wants a look at her. Terrible of me to focus on this but I'm trying to remember how long it lasts. I don't think dc2 had it much but dc1 had.

Vickylou78 Tue 27-Mar-18 15:22:01

Gosh congrats everyone!! Lush pictures!! I’m still waiting!! Due date is this Friday so I cannot even moan about it yet!

@drizz interesting to hear about your struggles with feeding. I had same with my dd1 and was constantly in agony feeding and getting thrush and shooting pains in my boobs and baby loosing weight rather than gaining... I struggled on for 12 weeks but wish I hadn’t really. Was an awful time. I’m seriously thinking of just formula feeding for this one. Did you formula from day 1? I’m wondering about trying to let baby have some colustrum but is it easier to just go straight to bottles? Any advice would be appreciated.

Vickylou78 Tue 27-Mar-18 15:23:50

@halfstar my dd had baby acne on cheeks but it didn’t last long and don’t think other people noticed as much as I did!

Smurf123 Tue 27-Mar-18 16:41:15

Hi can I join? I followed you all on the pregnancy thread but never posted (anxious pregnancy after several miscarriages)
My son was three weeks old yesterday.. He spent a week in nicu before we were able to bring him home.. Was only 5lb 2 at birth.. On Friday he was up to 6lbs6 so seems to be feeding well.. Although sometimes have to wake him for his feeds.
@GWeatherwax a midwife suggested Fennel tea to me.. It is supposed to be good for increasing milk supply and good for baby's tummy - not sure how much it works but I've started taking it the past couple of days as ds has been struggling with a windy tummy. He seems more settled today and definitely got more burps after feeds but could just be coincidence.
Loving all the photos smile
