That’s it really! I am absolutely gobsmacked! Had tubal occlusion done at same time as my elective c-section back in June.
My little one is just 16 weeks old and i realised that im overdue for AF (last one in Aug). I have done 2 hcg tests this afternoon and both clear blue and FR are showing positive!!!
This is a disaster for us, I literally cannot have another baby. I have contacted Drs and the Dr is going to call me in the morning. I am concerned now about possible ectopic pregnancy, as i was told at pre-op that theres a higher chance of that if sterilisation fails.

Has this happened to anyone else? Was your doctor suprised when you told them?
How did they deal with things? I’m assuming blood tests/scan to check fetal location?

🙈

Didn't want to read and run. What an awful shock for you.

I would imagine a blood test to confirm then early scanning clinic.
I hope all works out OP x

Not me, but I do know someone that got pregnant after tubal ligation. It wasn't ectopic. Definitely call your doctor as a priority tomorrow.

Sometimes the hormones are off after baby is born, especially if you are breast feeding. Home tests can be unreliable so soon after birth. Fingers crossed for you.

Oh my gosh what a shock. Your gp should refer you to the early pregnancy assessment unit so you can find out what gestation your at and if it's in utero or not. X

What a shock for you OP! Those do look very faint though so hopefully your doctor can confirm and give you more advice.

Hoping another mumsnetter can come along and answer your questions in the meantime!

Thank you for all your replies. I did another FR test this morning and it was again positive. The lines are faint, but definitely coloured.

I am desperate to speak to the Doctor, to get checked out.

Will update later.

Hi Mother

Well, the Dr referred me straight to hospital and they did a urine test which was negative. I showed them the 3 hpt i had done over the past few days and they agreed they showed positive. They then took some bloods and sent them
off urgently. They never scanned me.

We decided to go home then, as the results would be 2hrs and our lo was being looked after by family. The hospital called me later and said blood test showed negative too!
So, i am very confused. The Dr didn’t give me any explanation and i just felt that they thought i was neurotic or something!

Looking in to things myself, the nurse told me the analytical sensitivity of their dip test sticks is 50mlu/ml. I have checked and the FRER is 6.3mlu/ml and the clear blue 25mlu/ml. So both are more sensitive than the hospital test....
Also, apparently the blood tests are usually sensitive to 25mlu/ml.

Based on that, id say there is still a possibility that i am in early stages of pregnancy, but their tests weren’t sensitive enough to pick it up yet.
Obviously i really don’t want to be and i hope they are right...,but I can’t ignore these positive results! Ive done a lot of FRER in the past, whilst trying to conceive and had negative results. I don’t understand why im getting positives, if theres no hcg, there has to be.

I’m going to test again myself in a weeks time, with 2 different brands and if i still get a positive, then i will go back to my GP.

Hope you get the answer you want. It's going to be a long week for you to wait!

I would insist on a scan as soon as possible.

summer how frustrating! I would insist on a scan BUT then again if the hcg is only detected on the more sensitive tests I would say you're very early still so too early for a scan to show anything.
Looks like a long few weeks ahead, poor you!Flowers

Oh OP what a difficult situation. I agree your probably to early for a scan if the hospital tests are not showing up anything. I would want the positives investigated further....even if you do end up not pregnant. X

Are you getting any pain in either ovary? I got positive pregnancy tests on sticks but negative bloods when I had an ovarian cyst - perhaps something to investigate?
