Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has stories relating to babies hair colour changing.

My dd was born a week today with the most gorgeous head of red hair.
This was a total shock for for both my husband and I who were both fair as kids and I don't have any red heads in my immediate family (husband is adopted so who knows)
Were totally surprised and love it.
Just wondering what is the likelihood of her keeping it as know babies hair colour at birth often changes

All of mine were born with a full head of dark hair.

One is now blonde
One is still dark
One is ginger/strawberry blonde.

I don't think you can predict what'll happen.

Dd1 had dark brown hair with tight curls. Now has lighter brown hair with waves/curls.
Dd2 had red hair, now has red curly hair.

Both my DS's were very blonde as babies (once they actually managed to grow any hair, so more like toddlers!). Me and their father have dark hair so this surprised me.

DS1's hair has gradually darkened to mousey brown then medium brown and i can tell he'll have very dark hair eventually. DS2 is still white blonde though so lord knows what he'll end up with. Mind you, his eye colour is unusual and nothing like ours, to the point where I keep having to explain genetics to relatives who make 'jokey' comments about the milk man. He has the same eye colours as his great grandmother.

Both me and my DH are dark and we have had two redheads! Both parents need to carry the gene for red hair but it can skip a generation or two. It turns out that both of our maternal grandmothers had brothers with red hair and I have a half sister I have never met who also had it.

Apparently the chances of having a red head if you carry the gene but are not red headed is 25%.

Both of mine are still very red and completely gorgeous. I love it!

My dd1 had red hair when she was born and still has red hair now at 20 years old. Dd2 had dark brown hair ehen she was born. It sll.fell.out after a few months and came back blonde. She's still blonde now. Ds has reddish brown hair at 9 weeks which looks like it falling out a bit, so who knows what colour what hair he'll have!

I think if they are born red heads and it's a strong colour it stays. Both my first DC are definitely ginger :)
