The SPD continues!! HELP!

I had a bit of SPD whilst I was pregnant, but that's nothing compared to how it is now - nearly 9 weeks after I've had my ds! I've just come back from the Osteopath, who's basically told me not to bend or lift AT ALL! Rather difficult with a small baby and a disabled toddler (he can walk, just rather unsteady, and often needs help). I'm in so much pain, I could cry (and have done). I'm breast feeding the new baby, and I won't be giving up on it, but it's all rather tricky! I just really don't know what to do - anyone got any advice out there? I'm desperate - can anyone tell me that it'll get better? And that it'll get better quick! (Wishful thinking, I think!)

Have you tried seeing an NHS physio?

Go to your doctor and get referred to a physio. Also, I found that in conjunction with the physio a McTimoney chiroprator worked wonders - the first time I saw him I went in on crutches and walked out carrying them.

You must get physiotherapy and do it religiously! It can be a slow progress for some people but in others it can disappear overnight.

Take care, sleep with a pillow between your knees and work on your pelvic floor muscles to help stabilise your pelvis.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

I really would try and do very little. Unfortunately breastfeeding extends keeps the hormones being produced that cause the looseness in the ligaments that causes spd to happen. Can you afford for your dp to take time off/get some short term domestic help/relatives etc I do know that if you take a couple of weeks off to let it calm down and then be careful it will help. Ice pack of frozen peas is good plus ibuprofen - my gp said it was ok to take it when breastfeeding.

Are you wearing a support belt, if not get one - or do you need a tighter one now you are not pregnant anymore.

It's horrid you have my sympathies
