Hello

Wondering if anyone can help put my mind at rest

I have previously had a number of colposcopy's due to abnormal cells which the hospital advised to monitor rather than remove. I'm due for my next in four weeks after giving birth 10 weeks ago. During labour a had an internal second degree tear which was stitched, I had a number of complications including an infections which have now left me terrified of having a colposcopy! I'm too scared to even dtd still!!!

Has anyone been in a similar position? I'm so tempted to just cancel the appointment I've never had any problems with the colposcopy before.

Thanks xx

I had a colposcopy and smear 12 weeks after giving birth, where I'd had a 3rd degree tear which has left some internal scar tissue. It was uncomfortable, especially when she was taking samples. I was also really nervous about it and hadn't dtd either (we had tried but I found it too painful). I told the nurse how I felt and she made sure I was really comfortable and relaxed before starting and I tried really hard to maintain that state! Lots of deep slow breathing helped. It wasn't as bad as I'd thought it would be. I too thought about cancelling but I'm glad I went, the results came back clear and we've since dtd.

Hope that helps, good luck!

I had a colposcopy after a third degree tear ( had hpv cin 1&3 before pregnancy &treatment) I said ow and the dr stopped and said she'd rather wait a month if it was even a tiny bit sore. Went back a month later. I was nervous but it didnt hurt and was over quickly. Good luck x
