Yeyy! How lovely, I'm here with
Mini boris. Born three weeks ago, currently feeding every two hours and killing my boobs. But he is beautiful and perfect and my little ivf Christmas miracle :)

Blue2014 · 20/12/2016 18:38

Hi Boris!

Baby boy blue iis 2 weeks old tomorrow, currently favouring one boob but feeding well .

Another IVF miracle - I can't believe it bloody worked and there is another real human at the end of this! Does mean I'm in a bit of shock though, I never actually allowed myself to believe there would be a baby and now I'm a bit stunned that there is.

Do I remember correctly that you also went to reprofit for ivf? Have they followed up with you at all to see if your pregnancy developed / baby arrived? They never even asked me if I got a bfp - so I don't get how they can produce the sucess statistics...

Blue2014 · 20/12/2016 20:14

Oh yes Boris, I'm Reprofit too. That's so weird they didn't follow you up. I emailed them at BFP and also emailed to tell them of live birth but you are right, where do they get their figures from it they don't ask Confused

I'm considering returning for treatment in the future to try for a sibling but that's made me question it slightly ...

Hello! Stealth and baby boy (known as stealthini back on our FET thread) checking in. Have just packed him off to night nursery at the hospital and am going to get some sleep!

He's feeding unbelievably well - almost too well, he's spending so much time on the boob he's wearing himself out as my milk hasn't come in yet. So we gave him a little top up of formula tonight which did the trick and sent him off to the land of nod. When did your milk come in? I'm day 3 tomorrow so hoping mine will come by Friday.

My ivf clinic was given BFP information by my doctor and I suspect they'll call post my due date to check in. I imagine they'd wait for a month or so though because of babies coming late etc?

Blue2014 · 21/12/2016 08:58

Smile night nursery sounds fab - babies stayed by our beds at our hospital and I was scared the whole night as I was so out of it I couldn't reach him.

My milk came in pretty quick, day 3 I think but it did seem earlier than most. I also gave formula at hospital.

I asked DH and he says Reprofit asked me to email them with results

Stealth my milk came in at say 3 but not very efficiently. Due to his tongue tie he would nurse for hours but not feed well. I ended up expressing milk every three hours for him which established a really good supply now. The night nursery sounds good. Neither baby boris nor I slept well (at all) in hospital.

Blue my co-ordinatot at reprofit was terrible. I had a much harder time of the ivf than others I've since spoken to. We plan to go back this time next year, we have three embryos in storage that we want to harvest and due to our age (37 and 39) we want to get a move on creating baby boris junior.

Blue2014 · 21/12/2016 15:51

that's a shame Boris, my coordinator was fab (Eva). I had planned to go back next year (nothing in storage for us, I only got. 3 eggs) however I'm a bit stunned/shell shocked by the whole labour/baby thing so I would ideally like to wait but we also don't have time on our side (37 and 50)

OP posts:
stealthbanana · 21/12/2016 23:09

Ok well so far no milk - let's hope it arrives for me tomorrow (day 4)! We've also been topping up with formula as stealthini has a bit of jaundice so we are trying to get him max calories. Seems to work well.

The night nursery is wonderful. Will miss it when we're home! I was meant to go home today but they want to keep baby under light tonight for the jaundice so am staying in until that's sorted.

lildottie · 22/12/2016 17:55

Hi all

My ivf miracle is 6m old now. Can't believe we are finally about to have our first Christmas as a three!

Best thing you can do for supply is keep those babies on the boobs. I read the first two weeks are important for establishing good supply. Don't give up, it's bloody hard but so worth it when you do get out and about and don't have to worry about bottles and warming milk. Expect to spend weeks on the sofa just feeding and enjoy every moment, it goes so fast.

Blue2014 · 22/12/2016 18:13

That's good advice Lil - and so nice to have a first Xmas when you've had some time to get used to having a little one Smile

Stealth - my milk didn't come in until I'll been at home a full day, sat on sofa with my boobs out all day! It'll happen for you. (I'm not sure DH will be ever see my boobs in sexual way again but for now they are definitely making milk!)

A tip if you plan to have baby no 2....Hand express colostrum from 36weeks. I did this as I had gestational diabetes and wanted colostrum to give baby to stabilise blood sugar after birth...My milk came in on day 2 by the bucket load!

Don't be afraid to express when you're engorged. I was worried about making the engorgment worse but actually it just helps maximise supply for the long term. Once baby is latching well and feeding well regularly you will stop feeling the need to express and your supply will calm down.

Also feel you find you're leaking like mad from opposite breast, an empty bath tub with you and baby stripped down is your friend! I did this several times in the early hours in the beginning! Grin

stealthbanana · 22/12/2016 22:46

Thanks boris and lil. I think my milk has started to come in today - at least DS has started to do milky burps so something must be happening! Am starting to feel my boobs engorge and get hot but let's see what happens when I get home - I'm due to be discharged tomorrow thank goodness.

DH told me today I looked like "one of thos earth mother fecund woman statues on easter island" Grin. Haha! A nice way of saying your boobs and belly are freaking enormous!

As of now I'm finding breast feeding embarrassingly easy, I just take my boob out and wave it in his general direction and he latches right on in a nice gentle wide latch. I am guessing it will get harder at some point?! But right now it's so lovely - a few of the midwives here have thought I'm on baby no 2 as it's happening so easily!

Borisisback · 24/12/2016 09:42

If it's hapoeningbthat easy stealth just Enjoy it :)

stealthbanana · 24/12/2016 09:47

I will! Tbf after a hyperemesis pregnancy with excruciating rib pain, early labour that meant no pre-baby maternity leave and a complicated delivery, I guess I was due some luck!

Blue2014 · 24/12/2016 11:24

You certainly were!

How's everyone doing? Stealthini has decided he doesn't like sleeping at night any more - only feeding and squalling Confused. During the day he's an angel. Am so tired I'm about to drop - last night I gave in and let him sleep on my chest which was nice for him but ofc meant I couldn't sleep. I'm catatonic!

Hope you guys had w great Christmas with your little bundles X

Borisisback · 29/12/2016 08:50

Ah stealth exhaustion is a nightmare. Baby boris does at least let me sleep - but his feeding is a nightmare, he feeds so frequently my nipples are so sore (no longer cracked, blistered and bleeding though) but it's aweful. I top him up with formula at times - it's the only thing that gives me a break. I'm trying to break the cycles of him feeding little and often, I don't think he gets enough and my breasts don't fill and empty. Any ideas anyone? When I was first feeding he fed every three hours for 30 mins. Now Some days he feeds on and off for an hour then wants to go back on an hour later.

Blue2014 · 29/12/2016 14:29

Ooh Boris sorry to hear about the boobs - do you have access to a breast feeding cafe or peer support? Have you been using nipple cream? I don't know if it will help but Bluelet feeds long if i wind him in between and latch him back on 5 mins later.

Stealth the lack of sleep is horrific isn't it. Bluelet is changable and whenever I think we've cracked it he sleeps less!

Happy New a Year everyone! Well we sorted out our sleep issues - turns out white noise is our saviour and Ewan the Dream Sheep my new BFF. The little one is now snoozing so well - he's going 4 hours between feeds and would sleep longer sometimes except that we're waking him to make sure we keep flushing through his jaundice. The midwife was a bit cat's bum face about the fact we weren't feeding him every 3 hours until she weighed him - he's put on 150g from birth weight in the first 10 days! So she's conceded the longer feed cycle is working for us.

boris like blue I take stealthini off the boob and wind him mid feed. The other tip I got in hospital was to strip your baby down if he stops feeding - when they get warm they lose interest in the boob. I find that taking a layer off really helps if he comes off the latch after 10mins plus it's lovely feeding him with just a nappy on.

grump can't believe you've got just a month to go! Look forward to you making your way over here.

Blue2014 · 01/01/2017 18:05

Grumpel - looking forward to having you over hereSmile it's strange I'm really excited about us having a packed thread - it's only now I have the baby that any of this is starting to feel real!
