Definitely a due date whinge here!

40+2 but when I saw midwife yesterday, the baby isn't even a little bit engaged and she wouldn't perform a sweep due to dangers of cord dropping. I am booked in for induction on 16th and feeling thoroughly fed up, confused and lost

Marking my place on the new thread - thanks hayley! Nothing doing here at 39+5, but feels very low down and I'm feeling ever so slow. Need to get off my bum and do some minimal tidying and hoovering, but just can't do it!

due date today and baby has been quite quiet today, I had a little panic earlier but I have noticed she is moving, just not as much as usual or as vigorously. not sure what to do? I don't feel like anything is wrong as such as she has had more 'quiet' days before and she was extremely active last night....

Back from today's blood pressure check, all low (obviously with drug help) but it is putting me into a bit of a dilemma, booked in for exam tmrw and to discuss induction again but I seem to have split decisions with medical staff.. All the midwifes I'm seeing are saying, drugs are working, your fine just wait it out and the doctors keep suggesting induction....

Might go scrub the floor and see if we can sort the dilemma ourselves!

Midwife has been out today for 10 day check but Cassidy has only put on 100g since her last weigh in on Thursday so they wont discharge us and got to have another visit for a weight check on Saturday. Its so frustrating, I feel like she is feeding much better but she's just w gaining weight. She's a bit snuffly today so dh is being dispatched to chemist to get saline spray to see if that helps.

marmite err on the side of caution. Ring triage, you're forty weeks pregnant and will be taken seriously as you should be. Even a change in pattern or slowing down should be checked.

Suz I'm 39+5 too! I had a sweep yesterday, and a whoooooole lot of bloody mucus goop after so got my hopes up! Not a single twinge since though, and bloody show has come to an end. Baby feels so low down I can really feel the pressure when I walk about. Like you I should probably be doing hoovering or anything that doesn't require the sofa but I just don't have the energy!

Head is way down, but she didn't mention if it was engaged. Cervix is in the right place, thin (but could be thinner she said), and am 2cm dilated. Got a bishop score of 6 out of 12 so basically a 50% chance it would work. Pretty sure I'm in for the long run, with an induction date of 22nd which seems SO far away!! Another sweep booked for Monday.

Pixie Try to keep busy. Go for a walk, do some cooking or a craft or something. Keep your mind occupied so you don't think about the wait too much. I know it's easier said than done though!

Marmite Happy due date!!! I asked my midwife yesterday whether babies slow down at the end, and she said they should still have the same pattern of movement, but they will be less vigorous as they have less room. If you're still getting regular movements I wouldn't worry, but if baby is moving less than usual then it would never hurt to call and check.

MrsE that must be frustrating. I'm sure they are just erring on the side of caution by not discharging and little Cassidy is absolutely fine. As long as she is feeding she'll go in the right direction. I find that the midwives/hv's are a bit obsessed with weights and centiles.

We had the 5 day check today and Jacob has dropped 6% to 7lb 6, which is normal but I'm not used to having a 'smallish' baby as DS was always much bigger. He still has a touch of jaundice but just have to keep up with the feeds - she said if we hadn't switched she'd have been recommending topping up with formula anyway- and to put him in a sunny spot.

Lots of stubborn babies on this thread. Maybe they are waiting for the warmer weather?

Oh and who mentioned coffee on last thread for constipation? I can only say YES!! Most certainly worked for me yesterday and sang 'hallelujah' in relief/delight!

Thanks guys. I had a shower, came and sat in my room and put radio on. Baby woke up and has been stretching a lot. I'll keep an eye on it but perhaps I've just had a quiet morning and she's been sleeping. Will def go in if I feel concerned. I deffo feel like she has less room this last week or so - her movements have become much more stretchy like she's trying to stretch her arms out but can't, rather than wiggly which it was before!

Sorry to hear about you not being discharged mrsells. Its frustrating as I think they just look at weight as the be all and end all and not other aspects like if baby seems well, is feeding well, has wet and dirty nappies etc. If you think things are fine, chances are that they are. Some babies do just find a while to get to their correct centile and that can mean going up or down a centile (I've known babies go both ways!) But unfortunately you do come under a lot of pressure if weight gain is slow fx that the situation has improved by the next weigh in...

Hello New thread!

I'm 41 weeks today and getting desperate!!
Dh can't be around next week due to his job (he's self employed so can't be picky). I've been in tears the last 2 nights worrying about what ill do if he's not there when I give birth etc.

Sorry to put a downer on everything.

marmite last week I told mw that it felt like baby wooden was moving less and she had me monitored for half an hour. He was fineb it it's better just to double check!

Thanks for the new thread hayley! Had my growth scan yesterday and although it's measuring on the smaller end it's still within normal range which is a relief. Currently 6lb 9oz which I'm happy with! Am 38+5 today and no sign of anything kicking off here yet. Have also noticed movements seem to have become less frequent but usually giving my bump a good poke gets it moving again.
wooden I can imagine it's stressful, I hope baby makes an appeared for you soon.

marmite to give you a little hope, I had reduced movements in the 12 hours before labour started with both babies (got checked out with DS and was about to phone in this time when my water broke). The midwife last time said it's not uncommon for baby to have a little rest just before, though both my babies kicked hard during the actual labour.

Tam and I are just waiting on her hearing check before we're eligible for discharge. DH and DS are coming down to visit us this afternoon and I'm hoping we can go home with them. DH already came by for a couple of hours this morning with supplies and held Tam while I caught up on sleep a bit. He's totally besotted. I'm taking my time with bonding again it appears, but it's so lovely being relaxed about everything this time around.

Another one fed up with being pregnant here. 40+4 today and also getting desperate. Trying to keep myself occupied, but have run out of things to do. House is cleaner than it's EVER been, I've batched cooked until my freezer is full, walking the dogs twice a day (fairly hilly 2-3 miles in total) and now I'm just bored and frustrated. Not even getting a sweep for another 3 days as they do them at 40+7 and 40+10 here, feel like this baby is never going to come! To make things worse, my friend, who was due 3 weeks after me, had her baby on Saturday - such a queue jumper! Of course I am over the moon for her, but it makes going overdue sooooo much worse!

Marmite, try the cold drink and lay quietly for a bit, if still reduced movements get yourself checked, I did at 39 weeks and the MWs were great. They say it's important to get reduced movements checked out as well as no movements - if only for peace of mind. Fingers crossed baby's just having a snooze though.xx

Trying to crack a latching my heavey boy with badly bruised wrists and elbows (attempting to place iv line in labouring mum who can't stay sttill or even think of sitting was difficult!) while I have some sleep under my belt.

I LOVE the local midwives and their 24 hour phone line. So much better than when dd was born.

Nancy's having her heel prick test soon which I'm dreading, but will be good to see what her weight is. We've just had her registered as well by the registrar who married us so that was nice!

DH is outside with bits from eBay attempting to fix the car - he's no mechanic!! Fingers crossed!

Wooden that sounds so stressful. DH was supposed to be in London last week, I kicked off, the contract got cancelled and then I ended up delivering! We're 4 hours from London... do you have any backup birth partners?

Congratulations for all the new babies and fingers crossed that the overdue ones make their appearances soon.

All fine here. Had 5 day check yesterday and Ted has lost a few ounces. I know that's fine, but DS and DD had gained by this point!!!! Weighed again on Friday, so we'll see how that goes. He's feeding really well, so fingers crossed that will be fine.

Thanks for the blog link, marmite. I've pinned that too! We've had the luxury of 3 years of good sleep with DS so I'm also slightly concerned about going back to sleepless nights, though I'm hoping the expectation will make the transition easier!

Hope the heel pricks went well, Rhu & Beaut. (It's significant for us as DH has one of the conditions tested for).

indom you definitely don't need the Bounty pack for the child benefit forms - you can do it online. The Bounty women thing really bugs me - why on earth are they allowed free access to wards?!

I got so much spam from the Bounty people last time I've avoided all of it. I'm hoping that I'll avoid The Woman by delivering at the little local hospital.

Just looked up current estimated weight according to (the admittedly inaccurate) belly measurement: it reckons this thing is 7lb 15oz already. Come on baby, I'm bored of work now!
