Nice title. DS's current favourite is 'great big 'normous ONE!' to everything from stones and bees to the combine harvester up against our back fence last week.

We are deep into 'difficult' toddler territory right now, not at home but when we are out he is a bolter, difficult to walk, stroppy to the extreme when asked to do anything and ready to throw a tanty at a moments notice Hmm.

No pants here yet and not for a while I suspect. I'm still betting on christmas time. DS1 was the same.

Yay new thread! I'm better today so this is a start.

DD says 'I do it mine self' Grin

Love the thread title - very apt! Can't believe it took us over a year to fill up the last thread. We've lost quite a few a long the way - wonder where they've all gone?

Ivy is my do it myself girl. Like Dan she is having a 'difficult' phase.

Last day of school was OK. I held it together mostly . Ds1 then disappeared to his friends for the night. He is hardly in these days. And when he is he is plugged into mine craft vids on YouTube.

Glorious glad you're better.

We tried potty training again as ivy wanted to wear knickers but while she can tell me she is doing a wee she refuses to sit on the potty. We gave up.

School hols are exhausting. I feel like I am constantly dealing with fights over stupid things.

Got some horrid news from a friend. Her little boy has cancer. They are being so brave but it's horrible to see people going through this even from a distance :(

Sorry to hear about your friend's little boy Sad

Glad to hear dd isn't the only one going through an 'independent' phase Grin

Dd sounds about the same as ivy re. Potty training - I'm pretty sure she is capable of using the potty but she refuses outright and not even the promise of a sticker or a chocolate button will make her sit on the potty.

Oh Apple how awful for that little boy in his family. I hope the prognosis is good for him. My cousin was diagnosed with Cancer aged 6, and although it was a huge battle he pulled through and is now a healthy 27 year old. I really hope your friend's little boy is OK.

We have started using a sticker chart for good behaviour with DS. He seems to be quite keen at the moment and got dressed nicely this morning for the first time in aaaaages with the promise of a sticker for his chart. Need to get some little prizes for a reward box now though!

Snozz how long have you had the potty available? DS has had a potty in the bathroom for months but it took quite a long time of him playing with it, sitting teddies on it etc before he wanted to try himself.

Had my first heart scan today. I almost asked the lady for a picture to take home at the end Grin. Don't know results yet.

Really sorry to hear about your friend's little boy, apples.

We've been playing with the potty for a year Confused

So have we Glorious, mostly on his head Hmm although we have had some progress this week with actual wees on the toilet. He tries to copy his big brother standing to wee but his little willy only just pops over the toilet rim Grin. Luckily nothing much has come out yet.

How long do you need to wait for the scan results?

Report
glorious · 05/08/2015 07:54

Ooh that's good progress! I'm not sure, I have another test (24 hour ecg while I get on with normal life) later this week so I imagine I will get both together unless the scan showed something terrible. Hearts look surprisingly fragile, or mine does at least.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 05/08/2015 08:32

Aww Rat you need to get him a little step! Bless him.

Glorious Hope you're getting lots of support at the moment. Must be a real worry. Hope the tests come back with something really minor that's easily fixed and then you can get on with life!

DH went to do the weekly shop yesterday, but instead of buying the things on the (very detailed) list I sent him with, he bought 5 frozen pizzas, 3 blockes of cheese and a bag of peppers. And it's ALL MY FAULT because I didn't need him he'd need a £1 coin for the trolley. Hmm

RatOnnaStick · 05/08/2015 14:33

He does have one Cupcakes but he only likes using it at the sink Confused.

Why didn't he go in the shop and get some change? And who needs 3 blocks of cheese all at once? Couldn't one have been substituted for wine?

Oh Glorious it must be quite scary. I hope you get some answers soon. Are you still off work?

Apples how sad about the little boy.

Cupcakes am sure some men just have a mental block with this stuff. My do doesn't drive so never gets sent to do the shopping...

Rat sounds like progress. Imagine one day there will be no more nappies to change :)

Glorious hope you get answers soon, think it's worse not knowing.

My friends boy has 3 years of treatment ahead of him. They are such a lovely family, I feel quite helpless for them. Plus we live ages apart so I am of no practical use. What he has has a high survival rate thankfully but it's still terrifying.

No I'm back at work, just doing shorter days and travelling less as needed. I'm not too bad really but I do seem to be very easily tired and I'm nervous of passing out suddenly again. I have had dizzy spells a lot and various funny thumps and flutters. But it might still all not require treatment (which would be a pacemaker ).

3 years Sad I'm sure just knowing you care and are there for them is important. Often friends don't know what to say and back off for fear of saying the wrong thing.

Rat that made me laugh Grin

We've had the potty around for ages and dd used to happily sit on it while I read to her. However when she actually did a wee in there she got really scared and now won't even sit on it, not even for stickers or chocolate buttons Shock. I'm not sure what to do now. If I put her in pants she just holds onto her wee for ages (3 or 4 hours; she has pretty good bladder control) then asks for a nappy on, then wees straight away in the nappy.

Glorious I hope you get some answers soon, and that it's good news.

Oh snozz that's really difficult. I think I'd just put her back in nappies and forget about it for a few weeks. Bless her.

Rat - more to the point, who needs FIVE frozen pizzas all in one go? Confused

DS went to mum's for the weekend again. She was meant to bring him home around lunch time but he refused to get him in the car. It was 4pm before she finally managed to wrestle him in. He wants to stay at her house. He cried when she left last night and the first thing he said when he woke up this morning was "where's grandma?". Beginning to feel like he doesn't actually want to be at home! Hmm

glorious · 10/08/2015 19:56

Snozz DD is very similar. I thought we'd had a breakthrough the other night when she demanded to go on the potty, but no, she hates it again now!

Cupcakes I'm sure he's just very secure, it's lovely he's so happy with his grandma. Though I imagine it's a bit weird. can he talk to DD though

Cupcakes dd told me she wants to go and live with my next door neighbour! She has babysat a couple of times and apparently is much more fun than mummy and daddy...

Not sure what to do next with the potty training. At the moment dd is wearing pants around the house and tells me when she wants a nappy on so she can do a wee or poo Confused

Evening all Grin

I see everyone is starting to suffer the wrath if twos then. Im convinced its tiredness here though, since we switched him into a toddler bed he wanders in at about 6 instead of rolling over n going back sleep (like the good old days)

Loo trainings going well here, almost too well sort of we have a musical thomas one, hes ignored the other normal ones we got. He'll happily use it if he wants a wee... But only if hes got no nappy on, he'll ignore it with a nappy on, going to try a full day thursday so wish us luck!

The issue we have is the tamtrum when i refuse to let him play with the 'water' he worked so hard to get in the potty today he stuck his finger in his own wee and licked it Shock

Ah now Lora we put a gate on Dan's door to stop that very thing. I couldn't face him wandering at night, his brother has a habit of sleepwalking and we didn't want two of them bulldozing their way into our bed in the dark.

In Tesco earlier we saw a boy with Heelies, Dan immediately said he had roller skates on and mock-skated his way round the whole store Grin.
