Just wrote a long message on the old thread only to have it not post because we'd filled it.

We really ought to do less chatting and more sleeping Wink

The extended BFing thing was a LLL meeting. It was ok. A few of us with similar-aged babies, and then several with toddlers. One annoying woman with an answer for everything, including the brilliant "have you tried batch-cooking?" in answer to my whinge about not being able to make dinner without M screaming and hanging on round my ankles Hmm

I think perhaps I didn't take it seriously enough. One woman said that the reason babies hit/scratch/pinch/bite etc while feeding, especially at night, is because they're bored.
I said, "they should probably try staying asleep, then, if night feeds are that dull."
She didn't think it was funny.

Anyway, I didn't learn anything, but it was worth a go.

The last (of many) sleep book I read suggested feeding til the baby is almost asleep, then the dad taking over and rocking to sleep. We might give that a go. Atm it's only possible for me to settle her, which doesn't seem fair practical.

Checking in.

I'm so over breastfeeding as well. I'm just finding it too exhausting on top of work. I'll keep going till O is one but I plan on night weaning over Christmas when Dh and I are both off work and gradually cutting down from then. She'll still have breast milk for a while as I've got a large freezer stash. She'll just have to cope!

I lost you all, and life got massively busy and hectic, so I posted sporadically on mn.

But I'm back. I can't believe our babies are coming up to one!

Checking in too. Hope to be a more active participant in this thread than the last one. Although I think I need to pay a visit to Relationships board as I am finding baby easier to deal with than Dh at the moment!

That's another post for when I am not on my phone though.

Thanks for the new thread Toby!

Who has a birthday first? I think S is one of the oldest with 22nd Dec but I'm sure there's a couple who are 1 before then. Can't believe it's almost a year already, it freaks me out when I think about it Shock

Hello all, please may I join the thread? DS was born on the 10th Jan & I've been lurking on the ante & post-natal threads for 18 months now without getting up my nerve to post Confused

So I thought the new thread might be a good time to de-lurk & say hi Smile I've loved reading everyone's posts & updates through the weeks & months - it's kept me sane in the absence of nearby support since DS arrived.

Hope it's ok for me to join in!

Grin puggle! Although I hope that H will have gotten over his "was that a pin dropping? Let me sit up and check while I drag my teeth down your nipple" phase that he's been going through for the last 5 months by then!

DH has been working away from home lots but in December, we are going to try something similar, toby. I hope M's sleeping during the night is improving.

Hello again, million!

Thanks for the welcome Felix :) To add to the stats, DS has 8 front teeth with 2 coming through at the back. He has been grumpy with teething on & off for 6 months now D: Plus all he wants to do is stand, even when he's totally knackered :/ Bedtime is a bloody nightmare at the moment

Henry has 4 teeth. All of his front ones. The top two look weird as they are still growing.

He now weighs 18lb 11ozs and the hv is really pleased with him.

Hello Earth!

Hi, Earth :) Welcome to the wonderful world of whingeing :o

I though S was the first to have a birthday, felix.

Merry, feel free to have a big old bitch when you can Flowers

We had a great night (for us!). She woke at 10.30pm, 1.10am and 5am. Then she went back down til DH's alarm went off at 6.30am.

Well done for the weight gain million and h. Glad the hv is pleased

Welcome earth

Yay for better sleeping toby. O slept better last night, woke at 11 and 3.45 then in with me at 5.15 until 6.30. I did end up carrying O downstairs whilst bf last night to let the dog out which was interesting. Glad my garden isn't overlooked!

Despite getting more sleep last night I'm feeling exhausted and sick today and very teary. Hope nothing goes wrong at work as I think I might just burst into tears. Dh is back today which will help I hope, but I just need more sleep.

Can't believe 1st birthdays are nearly here. O is one of the youngest I think so a while to wait for hers yet.

What is everyone's plans for birthdays? not sure what to do. My family is up with us for new year so don't think they will be keen to come up again at the end of January, but I'd feel bad if we had a party for O and it was just Dh family that came.

We're just going to have an open house thing for a few hours on the Saturday after her birthday. Luckily, both sides of the family are fairly local.
On her actual birthday (a Thursday), we're going to go out for the day, perhaps to the zoo or rare breeds farm if the weather is ok.

That sounds nice toby. I've booked O's birthday off work so we will do something fun together but Dh can't (teacher) unfortunately.

Oh dear, what's up nature? Everyone seems to be ill at the moment round here.

We are having an open house thing too on the Sunday, which is the day before her actual birthday. My family live 1.5 hours away and DP's are 2 hours so I've just said if people want to come they can but there's no pressure. I'll do a little afternoon tea or something (gives me an excuse to finally use some of my many cake stands Smile)

Naturegirl82 · 19/11/2014 15:01

Our problem is its 4-5 hours for any of my family to get to us Sad

I think it's the tiredness kicking in, just feel like I'm going to be sick and my glands are swollen. I don't do well if I get too tired and think it's all catching up with me. Might work from home tomorrow so at least I'll save the 1.5 hours travelling.

I can't even crawl into bed when I get home either as I've got the dentist and I'm cooking Dh his birthday dinner. And we are out for dinner tomorrow for Dh birthday.

Sorry for the moaning, feeling down in the dumps today!

Welcome earth

8 teeth here too. And with all the hair he also looks like a toddler but is just crawling / cruising. He's one of the younger ones at 9.5m so no rush

Dh has bought me a lovely eternity ring today :) after all the crap earlier in the year I think I deserve it

Oh Nature That's rubbish. I'm sorry you feel so pants.
bamboo how lovely! Pics?
toby sounds like a much better night!

DS1 is pretty much potty trained, but wet the bed last night. So that was a fun stripping the bed moment!

I realised today my period is either 3 weeks late, or 5 days. Since having Henry i've gone from bleeding every day (for 6 months) then every 2 weeks, to nothing. I have the implant so desperately hoping i'm not pregnant. I think will have to test to make sure.

Hello all waves

I too have been lurking for months without posting as I forgot my password and couldn't be bothered to re-set it (lazy I know).

Million Always follow your posts as you have a Henry like me...He sounds like he is doing well :) and Eek about possible pregnancy. The thought fills me with dread!!

My Henry is nearly 10 months and has just mastered crawling which I find a relief and a nightmare all at the same time. He still has no teeth though? Hmm Is anyone elses babies lacking in the dental department?

I went back to work last week so of course H has decided he doesn't want to sleep anymore...just when things had started to improve!

Hope everyone is well...its good to be back :)
