dear all - I'm back on the new thread xxx

I missed out saying Happy Birthday to all the little ones - lots of best wishes for the coming year - to the land of being 2!!

Here ds4 is all over the place - very tiring always having to double check what he's doing. Every cupboard, pile of books - all gone through. WHat a stage to be at.

Morning all

Welcome back milward.

So much for a relaxed night!!! Settled down to eat take out and dd came downstairs crying cause she wet the bed. Sorted her out and changed her bed. Just finished eating when she announced that she had tummy ache. Next thing I know I have to run a bath and clean the living room floor as she projectile vomited over everything.

On a plus note DS slept through the whole thing and didn't get up till 7 this morning.

Hi all, nice to have a new thread. Can't believe we're into Ocotber already. Love the new name Mummyscaryhouseonthehill!

Does anyone have a Quinny Zapp pushchair? We're thinking of getting one as we really need something more lightweight. DH really likes it but I'm just not sure, it's the fact that you can't recline the seat, it just stays in the one position and there's nowhere for your shopping to go. Anyone's thoughts would be greatly received!

hello!

Been a very bad weekend - was told by another mother on Friday that ds (6) has been moved into the bottom ability set at school. After alot of calls to school I found out that he is finding the new emphasis on school work too much and is spending a lot of time in tears. They are happy with his progress but he is currently taking a lot of teaching time up and hense the move. I was very unhappy to hear this from another mother and I'm struggling to deal with ds's temper - it has appeared out of no where (since school started) obviously the two are linked. We need to give him loads of attention and build his confidence - I'm so upset and totally drained.

On a brighter note I have a Quinny Zapp - and think Wabbitt does too. Really like it - Its very easy to use & I hang the shopping over the handles - but like all pushchairs it can topple when I take Rachel out! Rachel falls asleep in it with head to the side!

Hope all is well in the scary house! Hello Milward - good to 'see' you

Oh lord I feel so decadent - I've been drinking champagne for most of the day as it's a dear friends 4Oth and a leaving 'do' for another friend who's emigrating to OZ

Zapp - I love it, it's swanky and lightweight and comfy for C and fun for me... just NOT an all terrrain vehicle!!! strictly shopping and park I'm afraid! but that's what I need out of my buggy

Love the new name MH! And thank you for the new thread

I'm watching Cracker at the moment - I've waited so long for a new series!

Hello milward much missed xxx

Love to all xxx

Mummyhill - scary name change! Hope your little one is feeling better. Thinking of you having to sort this out.

ych - I've been thinking about the zapp pushchair - & also wondered about the shopping. Interested to hear sr & wabbit saying they're a good buy - will think it over. You might have convinced me as I need a pushchair that folds down small.

sr - hope school gets better for your ds. Difficult hearing from another mother. I'm surprised that they put them into ability groups so early.

Here - just busy getting all the kids things ready for school tomorrow.

Hello Idris!

Hope you enjoyed the champagne Wabbit.

Bets wishes all xxx

Hello all. Long time no post on this thread
Don't know quite what happened, but went through a bit of a phase of, I don't know, wanting to disappear apart from the run of the mill what car have you got? How do you get your house extended? day to day threads. And then got embarrassed as hadn't posted for so long.
Think have felt a bit overwhelmed, or did for the last few months. Feeling better now - a bit more dynamic and easier to cope with the GRIND of 2 kids. Both are lovely and both are well, but boy is it knackering! Must say my mood seems to have lifted particularly in the last month, which coincides almost with giving up the breast feeds. Tom started biting every time I tried to feed him (was feeding morning and night) and I took the hint - not been missed by him at all and I feel a bit more zippy. Sure it's psycological but you never know?

Tom started walking at about 11 months. Unstoppable now and I can't believe how completely different he is to dd. Never really bought into the concept of gender difference, but now am eating my words as he fits every stereotype going. Eats slug. Eats mud. Loves getting completely covered in food and scattering cat food about the kitchen. Very keen on rough and tumble. And so on and so on. Whereas dd was incredibly fastidious about having clean hands, not getting wet or muddy and was so neat and delicate at the same age.
Sorry to have missed the birthday greetings. Hope all your little ones are well.
Lurked a little a while ago and saw that NLSTM had twin girls! Way to go! any update on names (was undecided last time I looked).

Hi Pooka - so lovely to see you on the silly 'do you get dressed before you come down' thread. It's good to hear how Tom's doing and that you're not so bogged down as you have been - Tom sounds a real scampeteer! Conrad's not to keen on being mud covered and boisterous, but he's nutty on anything with wheels! He plays very precise and meticulous games pushing his cars along the table top with a single finger!

Hi Lozza - good to see you're back

Hello hello

Hello Pooka - I'm getting scared Wabbitt!

Went to see ds's teacher - she said the problem was that ds has the creative writing ability and word use of a child 7+ - but the hand writting ability of a young 6 year old. He is getting angry and upset that he can not convey his creativity. We have been ask to work on letter forming and pen holding with him first. We saw some of his work and his storys were amazing - all about a great battle between a sea monster and a fire dragon!

Right must work! class tomorrow!

oh yes SR - I meant to ask about your ds, I'm glad the teacher is being constructive... other micro-motor skills will help with his writing too - playing fiddley games like Operation and doing crafts at home - helping him make something like a boat that really floats - This is more like the Rudolph Steiner ethos of learning for younger children... I'm really hoping to be able to train as a Steiner Kindergarten teacher - If I can find the funding for Studies.

Painting will help too - you could even get proper watercolour paper and wash it with water so the watercolours bleed into eachother - experiment with trying to control where the paint will spread to, to get the effects you really want.

Have a look at the Rudolf Steiner web sites - you'll find that at your ds's age the emphasis isn't on academic work and written recording of stories - but the telling of the stories themselves...

Have a good evening all xxx

Hi all

Welcome back pooka glad to hear tom is ok.

welcome back to lozza as well.

AR - glad the teacher has explained it all to you and given you a bit of advice but must second wabbitts advice as they get frustrated if all they sit doing is pen control as it is borring.

Love the photo IdrisTheDragon. What a cutie!

Was wondering - do all 1yr olds fit into boy/girl stereotypes? My ds is SUCH a boy and I have no idea where it came from - I have raised him alone since he was 9 months and I am a very 'girly' girl. Yet, he loves to eat mud, roll in wet sand, run around with sticks, climb everything and generally be a little terror etc. I never bought into the stereotype thing either but am beginning to think maybe there is more truth to them than I thought...
