Can't believe we are talking about potty training



We are snot-tastic here. All except dh. So just waiting for the man flu to kick in.

Off on an epic trip to collect things purchased from ebay and local trading boards. Xmas/birthday shopping almost done for the dc's.

Snots galore here too. Grim. Minimopsy bit under the weather which is making me feel even more guilty about going away for six days Especially as I CD have come home on the Friday but chose to visit and very good friend whom I hardly ever see and who HSS visited me the last three times. Definitely my turn and what are the chances of my being in Germany afsib any time soon. I know it will be fab to see her but feeling so guilty

Kat I think I'm the only one not going near potty training yet? I'd been planning for summer when he was 2.5 as he shows no interest at all but I seem to be only 1.

DS loves octonauts and dinosaur train and of course Wallace and Gromit he now has around 20 pics of the different Gromit statues we saw over summer which he pores over most days. He also has a picture of himself with my brothers little girl molly he walks round with it calling her momo.

New soft play is great and is literally 5 mins away in car but he managed to bash his nose and then my friend took him on the big equipment which had a death slide they went down together and all was fine but on the second time he wouldn't wait for her flung himself down it by himself while she sitting down and of course he landed on his face he has a huge bruise on his cheek she felt awful!! He wanted back on it within minutes so couldn't have been too bad.

3rd load of washing on, nowhere to put up, mince and tatties for tea!!

We're not figgy! She's sat on it a few times and done a wee, but then Iost interest. I'm not pushed about it, she can take her time.

Hey figgy, a potty around the place is not the same aa actual potty training! I'm just breaking him in to the idea gently, am not planning to put him in pants for a while yet, and some kids aren't ready til 3-4 anyway, there's really no rush. My DDs trained at almost 3 and just past 2 but if he's not into it I too plan to wait for the warm weather. We'll see!

Figgy, the great thing about DS1 never napping again is we get to put him down at 6, which gives us almost a childfree evening, so fingers crossed he's down early for you!

We're not even going to think about potty training until DS is at least 2.5, he hasn't got many words yet and he's quite frustrated that he can't communicate as well as he would like to us (definitely understands us though), so I think I'd rather wait.

I'm not planning on moving DS to a bed yet either, we will move him at some time next year, but in no hurry!

On the house front, the mortgage has been approved - phew! So it's all systems go! Just waiting on a move date to be agreed, the solicitors are all in communication now so that's good. I think the lady buying our flat wants to move end of November, but I don't think that gives the solicitors enough time, plus the couple whose house we are buying need to find somewhere to rent. We're happy to fit in with why the others want!

Chip we same with bed DS has a cot bed but bars r still on he doesn't seem bothered or try to climb out he rolls all over all night and would be on floor in seconds.

mopsy did you adjust her bedtime last night or is she still on yesterday's time? Could be why she's zonked, mine went to bed at normal time yesterday so were up at 5:30 this morning instead of the usual 6:30. Guess that makes it a very long day, even DS said tonight "mummy it should be 5 to 8 I want to go to bed".

aethel how did the quince cheese end up? I made windfall bramley apple and cinnamon cake, was amazing! I've also done blackberry gin and vodka ready for Christmas.

We said we'd potty train next summer unless she's clearly ready sooner. She's doing really well with weeing on the potty when she wants to but it's actually really frustrating that she takes her nappy off constantly, especially as the timing in sometimes inconvenient ie when I'm feeding DD2 etc.

We're big Octonauts fans and I'm also anti-kids toys advertising so only CBeebies here.

No plans to leave the cot yet either. She's so crazy in the daytime that I thought she'd be one of those that works out how to climb out of it early.

Bleugh just used mould remover in the bathroom, ridiculous over-powering stench of chlorine. Now have itchy eyes, runny nose and a splitting headache [confused ]

Yeah I did adjust her bedtime. but she had a temperature all day and miserable so I think maybe she was tired out by that. I feel awful going off for six days anyway but v upset at leaving her when she is under the weather

On a totally unrelated note, why when using mumsnet on your phone, does it not automatically capitalise the first letter after a full stop? Is infuriating...

Fell off the last one thanks to trying to work full time (incl business trips!!) with a toddler and a fully nocturnal breastfed newborn. God I hope our business takes off so all this will be worth it in the end...

We have a temp nanny staying for 6 weeks to look after DS1. She is a nice Scottish lady but drinks nothing but litres and litres of diet coke, eats no veg bar peas and sweetcorn, no meat bar mince and chicken breast, but all carbs are fine apparently. I didn't think people really ate like that without dying of scurvy or rickets. I am REALLY struggling to think of meals we can all eat as we will often have a big salad, or kale and poached eggs on toast for dinner! Your mince and tatties sound lovely Figgy but not for 6 weeks...
