Hello all. Hope all is well. I've been very rubbish keeping up with the thread. I do read when I can. I'm full of cold today, first illness in years and H has a cough, 2nd illness since he was born. So very lucky. He's 6 months today. I cannot believe that half a year ago I gave birth to this amazing little creature who has just grown and developed and made me so excited for the next 6 months and beyond. I'm so in love with that little boy. We started solids a couple of days ago and it's all going well. I was up half the night with a painful blocked duct, but I'm sure it's not related to the solids. He's still not sleeping very well but it's better, up twice between 8.30 and 7 am so much better than he was. Going to catch up now. Good to see you back GT

Nope, don't worry vq :) I do everything by the book and have been over everything with the paed the last visit. And the one before that. And the one before that. The area has had a rsv epidemic, and a flu epidemic, and a gastro epidemic, but we at least avoided that one. I actually don't need to take reposnibility for all this, but that is what we do as mums. I know that if I hadn't put DD1 in creche we wouldn't have had to deal with this, but as you said it is far better to deal with everything now than later.

Every week early in the week I start checking the weather forecast to plan a weekend away. Since new year I have been saying the next decent weeekend we will go somewhere, give us all a change and a break, and we just haven't had a decent weekend when we have been well enough. We are all at breaking point. Even the bloody pets are miserable.

Though I have to say DD1 is in perfect health at the moment, other than her night time coughing which the paed says will go when the weather gets better.

We just need a break, and I need to see the sea, or the mountains. I get like this from time to time, even from before I had children. Next place we live will be closer to the sea. We'e not going to stay in this area forever.

I'm in the garden!! E has never been in the garden before. We are lying on a mat basking in the sun whilst DD1 creates merry havoc around us. Now this is more like how April should be!

Afternoon fuckeroonies!

I really think pass did send the magic dung spreader out last night! Many good nights reported!

It says more that we report on the nights more than the days Hmm. We are all desperate for the holy grail of 12 or even 6! hours straight sleep for us!.

O is currently snoozing in a baby bjorn. Love it! Wondered what the fuss was about! It is super bouncy! Wonder if I can get a second hand one from somewhere!

I had stuff to reply to. Erm. Confused

BRB!

Forgot the pebbly shit. . Biscuit kinda looks like a pebble? Yes?

I am annoyed Eliza as it is 8-10 degrees here in Switzerland, sun behind clouds. Crackin' the flags at home well, it isn't snowing anyway! and we are not there GRRR!

Though I can't use the fucking garden because it is covered in fucking dog shit because some lazy arse needs to pull his finger out and sort it. It needs a good sorting out for spring summer.

I noticed that everyone I see around seems to have super non crying babies. I always feel like I'm the only one with a whingebag. He doesn't like the car seat when out. Wants to be held. Wants to suck your thumb, eat your hair, scratch the fuck out play with your face. BIG SIIIIIIIIGH! It doesn't bother me usually, as I just think meh, he's more of a home boy, likes playing on the floor etc. Doesn't like being out for long before he gets a cob on. But when you are with someone who is late 50's and never wanted had kids, who doesn't understand them at all, I feel like I should be doing something more?? Not sure what. I just tend to ignore the shouting/screaming, and focus on trying to feed/put to sleep/play/change/whatever the fuckity fuck he is after now. I don't think it is going down well.

Happy Birthday MM Thanks

The sleepy dust worked its magic here last night too. 7:30-1:15-5:15-7:30. Don't think I can expect any better than that at the moment. He is 18.5 weeks so prime regression territory, so am counting my blessings.

Starting to think about weaning for when O is ready. Reading the AK book - what is everyone's take on baby rice? Worth it? Or should I just gp straight for the carrot/sweet potato purees?

I have never bothered with baby rice.

Report
ValiumQueen · 07/04/2013 16:01

detective I wouldn't bother with a Baby Bjorn at this late stage. Unless you plan to use it for the next one. They are ok up to age 3, but when they can sit up on their own they prefer to, and if in it can throw themselves forward and end up hanging by their ankles, then there is the whole time when they are toddling and likely to fall over it. When a new baby comes they will want to sit in it again, otherwise they will not be keen as it is babyish. All this I have learned through bitter experience, but it is the best bouncer in the world from 0-6 mths. Also you have so much baby equipment and it does have a considerable footprint. It is all J has apart from the mat and bumbo, which he still dislikes.

Report
ValiumQueen · 07/04/2013 16:03

I used baby rice with the girls, using it as a base and thickener initially. Both times I threw away half the packet unused. I have not used it yet with J as I wanted to get his bowels moving. It is useful if you add too much fluid to a purée and I used as a first taste mixed with bm with the girls.
