The CRESH Creche and Spa - What's your excuse for not going back to work?

Liking maternity leave too much? Can't be arsed to go back to your old job? Why not get made redundant, set up a company, have another baybee or even fall off a horse? Anything to spend more time with our little darlings! And it's so naice here - pass the gin!

Hello! Cheers for the new fred boxy, sorry to hear about the breakage. Have a gin and painkiller cocktail on me you THB you.

I'm just marking my place really. Still whacked after exhausting holiday. And I was at the hospital today when I was told, after much rummaging and attempted "polyp-but-not-actually-polyp" removal, that the strange growths being seen on the entrance to my cervix were actually the inside of my cervix (!), which is exposed every time a speculum is put up there. Confused Three months of examinations, nervous googling and a wait to see a consultant and there's nothing bloody wrong. (but they made me bleed anyway) So I have full permission to tell the next person who expresses concern when they peer up my foof to just sod off because "that's just the way it is"! Well, at least I met the consultant I was under for my pregnancy for the first time Hmm

Must go for now, but I have been lurking after you all and will catch up soon.

Baby is only 6 weeks old. I know thats a lame excuse but it's the only one my sleep deprived brain can concoct.

Luffly new thread boxerbeat good to see the pain hasn't dulled your wits. Climbed any ladders today?

Just marking my place too really as I'll be going to bed soon. Rock and roll.

Sounds crap Cas but glad you had a good hols.

Rocket they won't let me up the ladders. Partypoopers. I have been out in the extension today though discussing the new staircase with the joiner. Get that in and I'll be oopstairs before you know it.

I now have no cast at all on my leg. I went to the Fracture clinic today and told them my foot has gone numb, and they took the cast off and diagnosed 'far too bloody tight plaster.' Hmm Also known as temporary nerve damage. So I have a super-lightweight splint instead which is held in place with a crepe bandage, and means I can take it off for a shower. Hurray! I have a week for showering and then they will put a cast back on again, hopefully once the feeling has returned to my big toe.

PS Silv it was a special occasion. Little Horse is normally far better behaved than that, but you can have a go anyway - Cluck will show you the best places for a blast!

Just marking my place on the new fred. Glad you haven't completely lost all use of your leg Box.

I was in Greenwich park today and they had horsey stuff going on but I couldn't see any of it. Unlike Alps I bloody love the transport in Greenwich. The DLR is awesome. But only if you live on it I suppose.

AlpinePony · 06/07/2011 06:32

Yay well done boxer!

curly Very glad to hear it's nothing serious at all and it's just a winky/wonky cervix! Grin

muser Of course DLR was not in existance when I was living there, how do you think it will cope with the numbers of visitors?

Report
Muser · 06/07/2011 08:36

Who knows Alps. They've made all the trains longer for more capacity, but I have no idea what the Olympics will bring. Probably chaos to the entire transport system, knowing London! It is the best way of getting round with a pram though. Push on, push off and lifts at every station or near enough. And you can sit at the front and pretend to drive. Which is clearly the best thing.

Cosmosis · 06/07/2011 08:50

Muse I would have thought living on the dlr has more disadvantages to advantages. I mean where do you shower? And all those people on board when ever you want a kip? No, I?ll stick to living in a house please.

Artie is soooo nearly crawling. We have also had a few random words that may or may not have just been co-incidences. He said byebye at an appropriate time, and also yeah.

Excuse for staying at home? But surely a woman's place is in the home once she has produced children? My sole raison d'etre is now to don my Kath Kidson pinny whilst producing a batch of home baked angel cakes every other day, and ensuring that my home is welcoming and comfortable for the father of my child and scented with home made pot pourri in every room.

I'm off to apply make-up and put on a sexy little cocktail dress before my breadwinner gets home from work. Just as soon as I dig that bottle of gin out from under the sofa and blow the lint off these crackers.

Cosmo clearly you're not familiar London property prices. DLR sounds like a lovely des res. 360 degree views, multiple desirable postcodes...and wipe down upholstery for when life's little accidents happen with small children. Sounds good to me, and all for the price of an Oystercard...

Had a friend round for lunch today with her crawling/nearly walking son. All I can say is Shock. Have decided that an immobile baby is quite nice. Especially for the contents of my wine rack...

fair point re properly prices, up here in the grim north we all pay tuppence as we live in coal sheds don'tyouknow.

Won't be checking in for a couple of days as am off to take Artie to visit grandad.

have fun Cossie. in answer to the threas question, my excuse for not going back to work is that my work is so utterly shit right now. However, I am back and there's feck all I can do to escape other than get diffed again...

Report
AlpinePony · 06/07/2011 18:35

curly would suggest diffment sooner rather than later due to decreased male fertility in direct correlation with increased accuracy and strength of baybee punches to the white goods delivery nozzle.

Lights I'm glad mine isn't the only one who makes a beeline for the wine rack. After he has located all plugged-in charging cables and had a good suck on them, of course! One thing which is a bit of a saving grace at the moment is that LG is not so inclined as TT was to make a dash for the door as soon as you put him on the floor. He is happy to play on the floor by my feet and not venture out of the room. This is a good thing right now - it does not do for a baby to be able to move faster than his mother!

My excuse for staying at home was have another baybee. Now my mat leave is running out I am planning on becoming a dole scum layabout student instead. That should see me through the next three years. One of the mums at preschool is diffed again - she has a little boy of 4, a little girl who will be two in December, and this one is due in November. I was jelus. I love being pregnant, despite stupid SPD and blood pressure problems. Envy

Casp do it!

Box I am in awe. That is all.

I was going to write on here last night about how TG sent me the most lovely text yesterday. He is not prone to romantic outpourings but the boy did good yesterday. Until he got home from work that is and preceded to moan all evening. In the end I got up, left the room and went to bed without uttering a word. Then I got up and slept in the spare room. Things have been a bit icy today funnily enough!

Report
Muser · 06/07/2011 21:40

I'm half hoping I'll get made redundant before I have to go back. Although when it comes to it I may well enjoy being back again.

Polly sorry to hear about the icy atmosphere, it gets like that here sometimes until one of us breaks. But we're muddling along ok now.

We have taken the step of moving Bob into her own room. It has not made much difference to her sleeping patterns yet but I'm giving it some time. So far it's just taken longer to get her to sleep. If it doesn't work I may just move her back. Although it's quite nice not having a cot right by my bed and being able to use the room when she's gone to sleep. We'll see what happens.

Here's a thing, right - I can't get out of bed if LG wakes up and cries in the night. Poor LG, or poor OH? Biscuit

Cluck I have the most beautiful little orange, pink and yellow fairy outfit here for LC. Needs trying for size, I think. Enjoy the camping if I don't see you before.

hello Haglets! Can I just mark my place & go back to bed for a while? Think BugBoy may be a vampire - asleep all day & party all night. I know he's only 4 weeks old but just feel like I'm stumbling around with buggar all routine at the moment. Will be picking all your brains for sleep-all-night remedies.

(Actually most nights he's not too bad. Last night was not one of those nights, hence I have Teh Face on today).

Box your fall sounds muchos ouchy!

Can't think about returning to work right now. Am hoping to apply for p/t though. Am also hoping I can be diffed again when return / soon after. I also loved being pregnant, & considering I'll be 40 next year Shock can't wait too long if we want a second.

I'm rambling! Need sleep. Goodnight, x Grin

Er thanks Box - will send MrC along on his way back from dropping muttley off.

Welcome, welcome Lozzer - make yourself comfy on these here cushions while you have your snooze.

Not looking forward to the job hunt either Meds and previous employer was a jeans & t-shirt place so I own nothing remotely suitable for interviews. On the plus side this means more shopping but need to lose about 3 stone first Hmm

Right, more packing to do. Keeping my fingers crossed that's the last of the rain for the next week.

kate I meant to ask you - how much did the tent cost in the end? The reason I ask is that the dutch are "mental" for tents and I remember keeling over with shock 5 years ago when a colleague told me he'd spent 1400 euros. He seemed to think that was normal. Shock

lozzer Maybe you just have a night-owl? My sister apparently went all night, still does.

I still love working which I know is not always popular with new mums Wink - actually I've put a question over on "going back to work" and I'd really appreciate input from any of you clever ladies because I am "stuck" and you know what it's like - can't see the wood for the trees.

I am dreading going back to work on Monday. I've scanned my email and it's "ugly" (incl. new snr mgt), my ms is ramping up, I have an appraisal and I will probably cry when I taste the minging coffee again.
