you're right about the pampers knitting - i will use cloth and some disp if the twins go back in nappies cos i was washing a full load of nappies (2 nappy bins full) every other day before.

but e had a wee on the potty before so hopefully we are getting there. she was obv desperate to go, kept going to toilet, doing nothing but not wanting to sit on potty. eventually she hopped over to me, legs crossed, going urgh urgh so i popped her on the potty and she wee'd. theo immediately wanted to go on too but didn t do anything. he wont be far behind if i get esther cracked.

it is bloody boring sat in all week tho!

I am nowhere with potty training and all this talk makes me feel like I should be doing more. The nursery asid that I should be waiting for a sign from luke - I have not had one - supposing he never gives me one?! I have told them that they need to start sitting him on the potty and I will too to at least get him used to it. I have tried before at home but he is not interested in the slightest. If he hasn't got his nappy on like after a bath and has accidentally weed on the floor he always looks very shocked!

hello, marking place. Just had very reassuring chat with L's teacher who is completely on board with the sensory issues, they've had an OT in the class already, she's thinking creatively about how to manage him and thinks we've done the right thing getting him referred and we will keep in close touch - feel so much happier now! maybe the parents' evening that threw me was just a bad day - or just a shock for me to get my head around. Anyway it's really given me back confidence in his school now.

Rolf I did laugh at the grade 5 clarinet offensive weapon thing, you captured it perfectly!!

No potty training efforts here, Amber don't stress about it with new baby/ies I have no intention of thinking about it until Easter at the earliest. My father (with his non existent knowledge on these matters) seems to think that P "should be getting control of himself" he even chose to raise this with me the night I got home from hospital. I put him in his place.

A-biotics finished this morning. W was weighed and he has only lost 1oz from his birth weight.

P v affectionate towards his brother, desperate to cuddle him, but disappointed that W can't "play choo choos" yet.

Neenz others: please talk to me about getting D from bed sharing to Moses basket, and settling by methods other than sucking. P was such and awkward customer that I feel like I have no experience of "normal" to fall back on.

Got second set of mc results - in to talk about them next week- seems these were negative for any antibodies and no reason not to ttc. Am a bit about this as it's not very comforting ESP as they want to do one more test in jan to be sure- if so sure ok to ttc without meds why test?

No potty training here either. J has a go on the loo before a bath and generally manages to force out a wee/poo, but shows no interest in using it when he naturally needs to go.

C loves sitting on the potty, has done for ages - has even marched into the living room nappyless carrying potty and book and settled down on it in front of the TV - and announces when she has done a wee and a poo. Ready, you would have thought. But has she ever done anything in the potty despite spending half her evenings on it? Not a sausage. (literally. No no. 5 sausages on the Bristol poo chart in this house from her.) I don't know if that counts as potty training her or completely failing to!

I had to buy ds a new potty as the one I used to train the girls is too small for him! DS will sit on the potty while watching tv and did mange a wee a couple of days ago. I put some pants on him and he wee'd in them about 20 mins later, will wait a while longer. It was a very quick process with the girls so will wait until ds is really ready.

Going what potty did you buy? The standard mothercare one I bought as a "discussion point" is far too small for P, just as well we aren't using it anger.

Knitting , we're moving to Teesdale County Durham.

No potty training here yet, now that would be too stressful for words.

Shame W's not up to playing trains yet Spider, these younger brothers aren't much fun at the beginning!!!Stefan would only call Tristan "the baby" until he was able to play with him in some way!!

Hardandsleazy, Ethan has a till set up on one box, a hairdressers on another(my hair will never be the same again), and now he's sitting on a pile of 2 boxes, with his office set up on an even higher box.

Buyers have the documnets but they are moving today so are signing them early next week.

Dh is off to find a place in the village to park a 40 ft truck. Our removal firm has a lorry down in Italy now and he's going to drive it here tomorrow, and leave it here whilst he flies back to the UK, and then return on Fri/sat to pack and drive it back!

Nothing is easy and straight forward with this move!

No potty training here. I bought a Thomas seat for the loo and after the initial excitement wore off, S just says, no like potty mummy. I'm going to get an actual potty at some point, but tbh I don't think he's interested at all just now so will leave it for a bit then let the nursery do it

It has been painstaking, and if it wasn't for Daniel being here I prob would not be doing it. But having 3 in nappies has really motivated me! And they are ready i am sure now, tho we had no 'sign', except that they obv can understand what we say etc. We had absolutely no success for 4 days but today Esther has done 3 wees in the potty and I really think she might have it cracked by the end of the weekend [hope]. The thing is she gets really upset when she needs to go so for about 30-60mins before she3 goes we get her crying, asking for cuddles, crossing her legs, holding herself but not wanting to sit on the potty. She is obviously desperate to go but seems frightened by the potty. But the wee she had before bath tonight, in potty, was all her own doing altho she was distressed beforehand. She was very pleased with herself afterwards, and T wanted to sit on his potty as well. With DH home tomorrow we are going to try doing both of them.

Poppy, good that they haven't found anything 'wrong'. really hope ttc goes well. they prob just want to cover all bases with the final test just to be sure...?

Deb so when is the actual moving date?

Spider, we have a mothercare potty seat and t fits in it well. unlike the 'normal' potties - they are not designed for boys are they? d slept in our bed for 8wks and he fed to sleep all the time (only way i could get him to sleep). But in daytime I would try to put him down to sleep in his cot awake and let him cry/grizzle off to sleep (looking out for sleep cues). At 8wks he wasn't waking so much at night so tried him in his own cot at nighttime and he transferred without a fuss. Was waking just once a night then.

Thanks H&S and Neenz that's reassuring. W still either asleep or feeding at the moment so not yet woken up. I am V engorged, so just had a bath using the foam bath that H&S gave me which seems to have softened things up. Phew.

H&S - strange that they want to repeat the tests. Do you want to get on with ttc? Enjoy the rugby and have a drink this weekend. You deserve it.
Knitting - I guess Rolf was right that your friend would deliver v quickly from 7cm. Eek though.
Dewin - sorry about the croup and the m/s. I found the best tactic was decamping to GPs for a week and letting them sort P out.

I've been avoiding mentioning it a bit but Fraser's potty trained now - we started three weeks ago and he's not had an accident since tuesday so I think we've cracked it. I still need to take him to the potty regularly as he wouldn't tell me he needed to pee though.

We used a combination of smarties, stickers, and a large buzz lightyear puzzle (one piece for each pee/poo). It took him a week to get all 54 pieces and he was really into it and I think that helped. Fraser's obsessed with buzz lightyear at the moment.

I have boys with small bums so not able to help on types of potties - I think ours was originally from boots. Fraser is starting to use a toilet now too when we're out and about which is very helpful and we got given a travel potty with the plastic liners which was invaluable in the first week or so.

Deb I'm excited and holding my breath (not literally) for you.

Rolf I should be doing exercises more regularly too - reminders are good.

H&S frustrating news from the doctors as it must feel like you're a bit in limbo waiting. Hugs.

We've just been out for dinner with friends and it was a lovely time. Our first night out since Burns night which is a bit shocking...

I have realised that I have inadvertently named my son after my talk name. Do I need to change my name too or will you all think that DS1 is called Spider? My talk name is based on two cats I had as a child, the second of which was named after my grandfather, so it isn't really a coincidence at all!

Well done Fraser! We've had some success this morn - E had a poo on the potty then a wee, but we had to 'catch' her as she was about to wee, so it only half counts . Then when we were praising her, Theo said he wanted to go on so we took his nappy off and he did a wee on the potty too! His nappy was dry so he had been holding it in too . I am pretty hopeful now that they won't need to go back into nappies. I think we'll have more accidents obv before they are reliable but they are getting the hang of it. Big test will be going to church tomorrow with no nappies on!

What's surprised me is that it isn't controlling themselves that has been the issue or even getting them to recognise when they need to go, it's been getting them comfy with using the potty. E particularly seemed quite scared of using it and didn't know how to release herself. T has been a bit more comfy on it, but he likes to please me whereas E just pleases herself!

When T did his wee on the potty this morn we prasied him loads and he said 'i try again now' and sat back on the potty

We haven't used any bribery except for sultanas and that was only once!

knitting I didn't want to mention it because I hate the whole kid comparison thing. I find it so easy to start to worry (about DS1's late speech, his current difficulty holding a pen, etc) and I almost shy away from knowing what the other kids are doing. (His teacher is fabulous and a real believer in letting them learn once they're ready and she says he's okay otherwise I'd be upset) so I often keep quiet about Fraser - he's been early on most milestones.

I'm not creative enough to think up a new name...
