Aaah will be out at 2.30pm for Hameron's statement.

First time I've been disappointed to miss him.

Heathcliffscathy Fri 07-May-10 12:02:18

onebat a summary:

no one has majority (you knew that)

cons have biggest gains/seats

clegg saying 'cons need to TRY to form govt in national interest' alongside 'electoral system broken reform is a must'

senior cons cross with cameron and saying no way to electoral reform.

tories will fail therefore to form effective govt.

big win last night was fight for electoral reform.

new one

If after all this they said, right vota again tomorrow, what do you think would happen?

Would people vote the same? Would more people vote?

onebatonevote Fri 07-May-10 12:00:11

I have some catching up to do. This all just gets more and more Looking-Glass like though, doesn't it?

auberginesrus Fri 07-May-10 11:59:45

PMSL at naughty boy Hameron and prospect of Tories imploding grin

motherinferior Fri 07-May-10 11:59:45

Prolesworth, I am about to go and meet a friend for a soothing South Indian lunch. I fear that image will not allow it to settle.

leavingonajetplane Fri 07-May-10 11:57:12

Although still confused about what exactly to hope for now. Its hard to work out how best this short-lived government should go, in order to ensure that longterm, things go in right direction. confused again.

<gives up for awhile and sits back to hazily enjoy the chaos>

I am NOT a naughty boy, I am Spartacus.

Beachcomber Fri 07-May-10 11:54:23

ooh unrest in the Tories, I bet Hameron is shitting himself.

Heathcliffscathy Fri 07-May-10 11:53:45

come out come out senior tory grandee wherever you are....

nearlytoolate Fri 07-May-10 11:53:33

there is also a problem with Lib/Lab coalition - they don't have an overall majority without another partner. So I think Clegg's calculation absolutely correct.

wubblybubbly Fri 07-May-10 11:52:48

Indeed, it seems Hameron is not the tory messiah, he's a very naughty boy grin

sallyJayGorce Fri 07-May-10 11:51:58

Boris actually LOVED Maggie. Not just her politics. He loved her as a woman. Men like hime like a feisty bit of rough like her.

leavingonajetplane Fri 07-May-10 11:51:48

Saw and enjoyed Sophable. Love to be a fly on the wall of the Tory discussions.

That sounded very promising

VoteRedLentil Fri 07-May-10 11:51:48

The difference between AV (good) and (AV+)PR is nicely explained here.

Yes, Johnson was favouring AV+ last night. It's the system here in Ireland and it is not as transparent or as democratic in my view as AV. I'll get a t-shirt printed with 'I agree with Jack Straw' grin

theyoungvisiter Fri 07-May-10 11:51:47

would Clegg lose a referendum on PR?

I think most people are fairly pro some form of PR - maybe not straight PR but perhaps AV or enhanced AV or whatever they call it.

Heathcliffscathy Fri 07-May-10 11:51:26

i adore the thought of puce faced tory grandees sputtering that cameron was too leftist during the campaign!

love it.

Disenchanted3 Fri 07-May-10 11:50:59

So the tories don't want a 're-vote' (is that what an electoral reform is?)

I'm really sorry about my novice questions, I'm genuinly enthralled but lack the knowledge blush

nearlytoolate Fri 07-May-10 11:50:49

inmyhead you are forgetting that Cameron alone can't agree this - see what the Tory MPs are saying...
Tbh anything could happen.
I think I will go and have some lunch now...

Nymphadora Fri 07-May-10 11:50:43

Hehehehe at the Tories falling out when they actually have a chance!

Heathcliffscathy Fri 07-May-10 11:49:43

did any of you clock what andrew neil said?

not much chance of a lib/con coalition then.
