How to count nurses

Hi there I am new to mumset. I joined up because I was confident that some people here would be thinking of the same question as me and also someone maybe would have the answer. Following the election, I would like to monitor the number of nurses we have. We all want them however we voted. How do you count nurses ?

Though if you voted Tory you will have to count 19000 of them twice then magic up another 31000 from the magic nurses tree.

Youd probably contact the nurses and midwives council and ask how many nurses are registered with them.

Full time or part time? Don’t worry though. Our new rules regarding immigration will fast track them in from developing countries leaving them short of staff. How mean we are to make other people suffer in other countries. It’s the latest form of colonialism!

Well I was just thinking (just ha!) of finding out how many there are now. I know there are many different types and skill sets.Then just see how this government goes about increasing numbers (just again!) . I would like to make sure it happens or at least see that people are making the right moves.

It's a good question Happylittlehamster, especially since the figures for additional numbers turned out to include existing nurses. I've thought about asking my local (Conservative) MP how the promised increased numbers in nursing, policing etc will be distributed and what the numbers are for the constituency. Not seen any detail about this (if it even exists at this stage).
