What’s the difference between most seats / majority?

Does anyone know and can explain to me? Want to put a small bet on but unsure how these two differ, if you have the most seats surely you have the majority?

A majority is over half the seats.

You can have more seats than anyone else, but still not have half of the total, as there are more than two parties.
