I still don't know who to vote for

I'm struggling, reading through the manifestos of all parties and if I could cherry pick there are some from each I can align with, however I dislike Boris and Jeremy and I know I am meant to vote for the party not the person but I just can't see either of them as the best possible choice.

I live in a safe Tory seat area, he's a useless MP. I want my vote to count but I'm really struggling to decide.

I'm in the same boat, I've been trying to learn more but it seems everyone around me doesn't want to talk about politics.

If anyone knows where I can learn about the parties that would be great because I feel stupid! I tried to do the online quiz but even then I didn't really understand the questions.

Pick the issues that are most important to you and see which party is closest to your values. There will be something that you disagree with or are worried by in all of them but politics is about compromise.


If you care about the NHS, cuts to public services and the effect of Austerity on the poorest and most vulnerable members of society then go on a tactical voting website to find out who's the strongest antiTory party in your constituency.


Brexit shouldn't be a major concern if you're a Leaver because the Tories want it, Labour have promised a 2nd referendum (if you're a Leaver that's not a problem because you believe that most people still want out) and the Lib Dems won't form a government.

If you're a Remainer and Brexit is a priority then go for the strongest anti Tory candidate.

I'm not decided either. Have read 2 manifestos so far (Lib Dem and Labour).

I cannot get behind the whole scale spending of the Labour manifesto and there are a couple of policies I am very much against.

I think the Lib Dem's manifesto is quite sensible.

Not read the Conservative's one yet but have heard about it on Electioncast. It sounds a bit bland but as Laura K pointed out, their get Brexit done is the radical bit. My heart actually jumped a bit (not in a good way) when she said Brexit by 31 Jan. have got used to the dithering!

I voted Labour in 2017 after a lot of umming and ahhing and the candidate did rather well although the conservative candidate beat her by 14500 votes.

In the European elections I voted green and Lib Dem. Not for their remain stance but for their policies.

I voted Tory in 2015 but it was a different constituency with a great candidate.

So I am an undecided but in a Tory safe seat.

Realistically, if you live in a safe Tory seat, your vote won't count - if no other candidate has a fighting chance, you're voting to make a point of showing your support for the candidate or party you most agree with, not for them to actually become your MP. That's the unfair and frustrating reality of a FPTP system.

Personally I think you should vote for anyone but the Tory - and probably the party that came second in previous elections. But of course it depends on your values, if you genuinely think that the Conservatives are a closer fit that everyone else, it's your choice.

I'll be voting Labour. It's a simple choice for me - for too long have I struggled as a working single mum to get by. Labour will push up my wage and will end my zero hour contract. Despite the media spending every tv minute and column inch criticising Corbyn, they can't argue with his policies. It will make my life and women with lives like my own so much easier.

All politicians and political party's tell lies at various times but this PM and current Govt have taken it to Donald Trump levels.

In the past few weeks alone they have been caught doctoring video footage to make Labour politicians interviews look misleading, during the leaders debate last week they changed their twitter account to look identical to an independent account called factcheck in order to spread Tory propaganda about the debate. The BBC have lodged a complaint about the Tories doctoring/editing footage of their political journalists which puts them in a favourable light and Labour in a negative one.

The PM is running scared of attending a planned interview with Andrew Neil even though all the other main leaders have either already faced a grilling from Mr Neil or will do so next week. He also refused to spare an hour of his time to attend CH4's leaders debate on Climate Change last night, which is one of the most important issues facing our World at moment, instead he sent his dad and Mr Gove instead.

What is even worse is that after CH4 amusingly replaced the PM with a melting ice sculpture to reflect his absence, the Tory party immediately implied if they gain power they will have a look at CH4's licensing remit. This is straight out of Trump's playbook of bullying and threatening tactics, let's be honest it is the kind of thing we would expect to be happening in Russia.

The PM wants us to trust him and yet here is a man who has lied throughout his entire career, been sacked twice in past for doing so, and he cannot even face a 30 minute interview scrutiny on his Brexit deal, plans for NHS, issues of trust and tackling poverty.

He and his cabinet are full of male misogynists and their attitude to women is at its worst contemptible and at its best condescending.

Hi, yes aware there is still the transition period. I still gulped at the thought of it all starting properly...that's what I meant. Not falling for the sound bite. I am worrying if they force the leave date for 31 Jan on the W/A it will cause a lack of appropriate scrutiny. Particularly in the Lords. Isabel Hardman's recent book on politicians demonstrates how scrutiny of legislation is screwed in the Commons.

If the Tories get a majority we will leave with Johnson’s WA by 31 Jan. No deal by the end of the WA is a real possibility. If you are anti Brexit, vote which ever way has the greatest chance of depriving Johnson of his majority.

At least most people on here are smart enough to see past Boris Johnson's empty soundbites about Brexit being done by 31st January.

However there are a lot of people who have been suckered in by his cheap slogans such as "his oven ready Brexit Deal".

Also the big elephant in the room is he refused to publish the Govt's own internal reports as to how damaging his Brexit deal will be for UK economy. However most independent experts think it will be in region of £20 Billion per year at a conservative guess.

Our electoral system means that your vote may not be powerful depending on your constituency.
Look at a tactical voting site firstly to see what your options are.
The main issue for me is Brexit . I want a second referendum. A few months here or there waiting and campaigning for it will be nothing if we end up remaining in comparison to years of ongoing negotiations and the effect of the financial crash that a hard or even worse a no deal Brexit will being( I m o).
The options at the moment are Conservative majority with all the Brexit tat that entails or 5 years of a minority government . However unsuitable JC is as a leader we can vote again in a few years time.

The thing that really does frightens me the most is the thought of us being subject to Donald Trump's USA administration. Anyone who watches Trump knows he will exact very heavy price for any trade deal with UK, which will no doubt lead us to being poodles to USA whenever required.

While he may no be interested in the entire NHS there are many big pharmaceutical companies in USA who would love to get involved and the price of many of our life saving medications could soar. If you have ever lived or had to get medical treatment in USA you will know just how terrible this would be.

It's aimed at remainers but anyone anti-tory can use it. I feel very scared of Boris Johnson and the direction things have taken since he became prime minister. The proroguing -parliament, insistence that he was not going to obey the law about an extension, trade talks with the US including our NHS, the plan to change the powers of the course, the fake websites and lying etc feels very sinister. I am scared in a way that I wasn't scared of David Cameron or Theresa May (although I did not agree with them). It feels like the one-nation moderate conservatives are a thing of the past and the Tories have taken a massive lurch to the right. If I was voting for my first choice, I would vote green. But I am going to vote tactically for Labour as that is the recommendation in my constituency. I am not a Corbynista but I would be relieved if we have a labour led government. I am a remainer but am much less worried about a labour brexit than the no deal cliff edge Johnson seems to be heading towards at the end of 2020. I think a hung parliament is likely, especially if people vote tactically. Which means Johnson will hopefully resign, we can have another referendum, hopefully introduce proportional representation, and have an other election after all that.

The only votes that count are the ones that will get this disastrous government out. That is generally Labour, but in a small number of constituencies (Richmond Park, St Ives, Cheltenham etc) is Lib Dem.

One in three children now live in poverty in this country. As a new Mum it breaks my heart to think of the kids and their parents sleeping in coats to keep warm and not having enough to eat.

None of the parties are perfect. But we need to start afresh with a Labour government that’s gives all kids the same chances that my son will have.

I also desperately need free childcare. We are really struggling, even with two incomes. I dread to think what it is like for single parents.

The comments by Johnson that have emerged in the last few days about mother’s just confirm my suspicions that he is deeply sexist and has no respect for all the hard work we put in day and night.

As a parent of teens at university being absolutely fleeced by fees and being a TA, witnessing school budgets being hammered, I can only vote Labour.
