LibDem leadership hopeful Layla Moran MP has admitted being charged and detained by the police after slapping her then boyfriend.

She's been praised by many for her bravery in admitting her personal failing. I can't help thinking a man in her situation would find his political career over. I've seen domestic violence up close and I'm taken aback that so many LibDems think it's OK as long as you are female and say it wasn't their 'finest hour'.
Is it OK to do anything now as long as you make a big public admission?
