What's the youth turnout like at your polling station?

They say they youth vote could swing it from a landslide to a hung parliament. But it also depends on the constituency.

What's the youth turnout like where you live? I can't say because I'm voting by proxy. But I think it would be interesting to collaborate!

What percentage of people are under 35 (roughly)? Are you in a safe seat or marginal? Which party current holds your seat?

Any other thoughts?

When we voted earlie there was a queue but not a person under 30 in sight.

Labour marginal here that will probably turn blue.

Interestingly, when I voted this morning I overheard someone commenting about the number of younger people there.

It was maybe 25% under 35s. This was very early in the morning, so presumably most people were voting on their way to work. I expect the retired and other non-working people would be voting later.

Safe Labour seat.

I think I was the youngest person in the line this morning, other than parents bringing their babies or a very young children along, my polling station actually had free pastries. So I put something on Facebook and Twitter about the pastries with the hope that other young people would get off there Butts! Grin

I was the youngest when I just went to vote at lunchtime. The youngest by a good few decades as well. Im 36...

Older population here and probably one of the safest tory seats going.

Tends to be relatively low but reckon it'll may be higher this year due to the Corbyn effect.

Never had a non-Tory MP and don't think that will change after this election though!!

Several young people I know are voting in their university towns as their vote will have more impact there.

No-one under about 40 when I went - but presumably younger people would be either at work or college/school during working hours?

Hackney average voting ages was about 200 this morning but I went at 11 so guessing everyone was at work

None, but at 7.30 this morning I only saw three other voters, so not sure it's a very scientific survey.

I went to vote at 9am and there were a lot more people than usual. However, I was the youngest by a mile, all others appeared to be 65 plus (traditional Labour area). It is a mixed area and a university town.

There did seem to be a good turn out- at the recent council elections our turn out was less then 40%

Just voted. Me and DH were the only ones there. It is always empty when we go at lunchtime.

I have put this elsewhere but this is a bit concerning.

It's not as if the process hasn't been explained umpteen times.

Older population here - saw no younger people at all. Ours is a 50/50 Tory/Lib dem seat.

I was the youngest one in my queue....not a long one though. I'm 45.

Dd (18) will be voting after college as will most younger people I'd imagine. It's taken me this many years to vote before work rather than a mad dash afterwards.

I think I was the only one under 35 but in fairness we live in a village where most people are over 50. I think it's a Tory landslide for our constituency in general.

The youth turnout will probably vote after work/college so no point in any kind of survey yet

Many 18yos are on A level study leave so they may show up at any time. Mine will be voting some time this afternoon. Of the 4 choices (we have a green), I don't know what she'll choose but I would guess least likely to be this brand of Labour.

My polling station was busier than I've seen it before (it's always got a constant stream, but never a queue, but today, there were more people about).

I was the youngest person there by 20 years at least, and I am the wrong side of 40.

No queue at mine. We were the youngest there at 31

Lots of elderly people. Though according to the stats it's actually a young constituency (average age 29).

Tory "safe" seat, cabinet MP who is very active in the community.

DH and I were the only young people there, and we are just under 30.

To be fair, though, there were only two other people there at the time, but they were elderly (one was quite rude actually and turned to me and said "it takes 3 people to do one fucking job!" ... I put some distance between us then as I didn't want the staff to think I was associated with her).

I was the youngest at mine this morning (age 34) but I'm on maternity leave. I assume lots of younger people are working/ studying and will go after. That's what I have always usually done.

Report

I was youngest (33) at mine this morning and it was all older folk when we drove past about an hour ago. My DF didn't see any young uns when he went around lunchtime.

At the recent locals an exit poll found 95% of voters were over 65. It's a Tory safe seat, no surprises there.
