Do you ever write to your MP? I have done so........

I have written twice in a 5 year period.

I suspect most of the letters MPs get are from pressure groups or
business interests.

Yes, and he responded to me individually and well. Earned him a vote despite belonging to a party I don't normally vote for.

Yes, several times when I want to register my opinion about an important vote. I've also tweeted her and she responds.

I've also emailed other MPs about issues. The Greens, in particular were very quick to come up with a full and considered answer.

Well Ethel and Slug, you are good adverts for our system Perhaps we should have more faith in individual MPs.

DH has, a couple of times. She replied outlining her full support for existing government policy (Tory MP) when DH had expressed concern about it.

She did reply promptly though.

Yes a number of times about Student Finance problems. He even raised the issue in Parliament. I think that must have been other people with the same problem!

Yes well MPs are told to support the party line on policy. How would a benefit claimant get on writing to a Tory MP...Not very well, perhaps.
But most of the posts here are positive

Yes, heard back from my MP a number of times. I get his weekly newsletter and he will normally have an issue he invites views on - obviously I don't then get a personalised response on those ones but if I write to him specifically I will get a response. He also does shedloads of surgeries, I feel exhausted just reading his Twitter feed :)

Perhaps not surprisingly, given how accessible he is to his constituents and the amount of graft he puts in, he was one of the handful of Lib Dem MPs to keep his seat.

Yes twice but she was about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

Yes, to my last one, quite a few times. Always replied promptly and was very effective on a very specific issue. He made some disparaging remarks about Nadine Dorries as well Grin. He lost his seat to a tory who doesn't even live in the constituency so I might just emailbomb her for my own amusement.

Well how else will she get to know her constituents, SwedishEdith Grin You will be doing our democracy a great service by ensuring she gets plenty of local feedback.
