Hi -

A bunch of concerned mums has grouped together to try to make a big noise about how we are against the privatisation of the NHS. Please take a look at the Facebook page, and consider following it to get more information on the People's March for the NHS, from the North East to London, which we're organising for the summer. We're not politicians, and haven't organised anything like this before. We'd love it if you could spread the word, consider getting involved with some of the admin, or be an extra pair of legs on the walk.

More information to be shared over the next couple of weeks!

Insertnamehere….While I’m not sure who is talking about privatising the NHS, may I just point out that much of the NHS has already been ‘privatised’, where through the Private Finance Initiative - the private sector pays for a project e.g. a hospital, and the NHS leases it from them - a huge amount of an NHS annual budget will pay the private sector for the provision of services, for decades to come.

Furthermore without the private sector being brought in under Labour to dramatically reduce hospital waiting lists around 2000/1 which seemed to work, we should not put patient care over ideology, as there will be times in the future where bringing in the private sector again, however short a time or regionally focused, will make patient sense. IMO.

Thinktank proposing monthly fee for NHS is funded by private healthcare companies

"Valuable work from Tom Pride. It is sad to note that it is a LABOUR peer who is embroiled in this. As a Labour member, my own view is that anyone found to be trying to use a Parliamentary position for personal gain should be ejected from the Party forthwith. They blacken all our names."

Labour peer Lord Warner – who has written a report released today proposing monthly charges for using the NHS – is personally funded by private companies which will directly benefit from this kind of privatisation of healthcare:

Why Lord Warner really supports NHS reform: he’ll make loads of money from it

Warner wrote the report on behalf of a thinktank called REFORM which claims to be non-party – but which was founded by Tory MP Nick Herbert and former Head of the Political Section of the Conservative Party Research Department Andrew Haldenby.

REFORM itself is funded by many companies which will directly benefit from further privatisation of the NHS:

A full list of REFORM’S corporate sponsors can be found here - again many of which would directly benefit from these reforms.

I saw Lord £10 on the Daily Politics the other day and I thought a Labour anyone suggesting a £10 charge was dodgy, now I know why.

I want the NHS sourcing more and more services from the private sector. It is generally significantly more efficient and more cost-effective than the public sector at delivery.

Just because the taxpayer pays for it doesn't mean the public sector is any good at running it.
