There are all kinds of spaces in London that are used for something different than their original intent, and you can't move for blue plaques commemorating something or other. They regularly let the Cabinet War Rooms in Whitehall as a party venue, for example. If Tower Hamlets Council want to hire out a garden, surely that's up to them?

Surely the ones with the greed problem are the owners if the square who are choosing to make money be hiring it out through this company?

That's Tower Hamlets council, according to the article.

No, I do not know why the council is doing this. Have they out out a statement with their reasons?

What does this have to do with the City? It's the council's decision and anyone might have parties there
