on the ground that Palin is "nuts".

Well done, Maggie! I have long despaired of the fact that if I were in America in 2008, I would have been forced to vote for Obama, purely because of Sarah Palin's idiocy.

Maggie continues to impress, even in her twilight years. What a truly remarkable woman she was - and is!

Here are some wonderful classic Maggie clips. Why can't Cameron lay into Labour the same way?

I don't believe Thatcher said that. It sounds more like the kind of thing a spinner would say.

'British Tory commentator Tim Montgomerie added: ‘She is an embarrassment for mainstream Conservatives.’

I have seen him on TV. Is he what is known as a wet?

'But one ally told The Guardian: 'Lady Thatcher will not be seeing Sarah Palin. That would be belittling for Margaret. Sarah Palin is nuts.’

The 'ally' seems to have said this to the Guardian. Not sure we can take it for granted that Thatcher said it.

She might not have said those exact words (especially the "nuts" comment), but she must have been the one who did the refusing.

I'm not so sure. We will have to wait and see what happens, if Palin does come.

SpeedyGonzalez Tue 07-Jun-11 23:45:31

She doesn't impress me.

Tim Montgomerie is Iain Duncan Smith's protege - much more socially conservative than Cameron, but from the religious end of the Tory party - the minority which believes increasing International Aid is worthwhile.

claig Tue 07-Jun-11 23:54:09

He sounds a bit politically correct, a bit wet.

claig Tue 07-Jun-11 23:55:00

I don't think Duncan Smith is socially conservative is he?

Glad someone has decided to deny Palin the oxygen of publicity.

They should have met, the Lady gaga twins in so many ways.

That woman scares me and has lost her marbles.

There isn't that much between them both mad harridans.

CaveMum Sun 24-Jul-11 22:58:00

I understood it that Mrs Thatcher is very frail and suffering from dementia, so I can't see she could give the quote concerned.

claig Sun 24-Jul-11 23:24:47

Exactly, CaveMum. I think it is nonsense, trying to knock Sarah Palin.

fannycomp Tue 26-Jul-11 18:23:11

Can't believe Thatcher would say these words.

mathanxiety Tue 02-Aug-11 17:12:38

If she said it, she is spot on.

grin @ Newwave.
