Does anyone know the full text of the poem/reading that goes like this? I want it for our naming service on Saturday - but can't find the text anywhere!

PREJUDICE

I am not prejudiced but opinionated
For I express my mind
Which makes some feel prejudiced
And forget I am opinionated

I have a belief that does not translate to hate
For in me there is so much love
Which flows in abundance
To bless men and women with love

I am not prejudiced against any one
For nature has thought me to be free
As I will not be polluted by prejudice
Which will pull none down but me

I am not prejudiced but just me
For I am born in love
And was brought up in love
As I cannot be polluted by hate and prejudice

This one has a similar line in it??

Do you mean the one that goes (roughly) "if a child lives with intolerance he learns to condemn" ?

CHILDREN LEARN WHAT THEY LIVE

If a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight
If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy.
If a child lives with shame, he learns to feel guilty

But,

If a child lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement, he learns confidence.
If a child lives with praise, he learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness, he learns to show justice.
If a child lives with security, he learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval, he learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship, he learns to find love in the world.

Thanks Gwenick, but that's not the one I was thinking of.

The one I'm thinking of has nearly every line starting off "A child brought up ..." I think.

Slightly different version:

If a child lives with criticism,
He learns to condemn,
If a child lives with hostility,
He learns to fight,
If a child lives with ridicule,
He learns to be shy.
If a child lives with shame,
He learns to be guilty.

If a child lives with tolerance,
He learns to be patient,
If a child lives with encouragemnet,
He learns confidence,
If a child lives with praise,
He learns to appreciate,
If a child lives with fairness,
He learns justice.

If a child lives with security,
He learns to have faith,
If a child lives with approval,
He learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship,
He learns to find love in the world.

Is this the one you mean?

If a child lives with criticism
he learns to condemn.

If a child lives with hostility
she learns to fight.

If a child lives with ridicule
he learns to be shy.

If a child lives with shame
she learns to feel guilty.

If a child lives with tolerance
he learns to be patient.

If a child lives with encouragement
she learns confidence.

If a child lives with praise
he learns to appreciate.

If a child lives with fairness
she learns justice.

If a child lives with security
he learns to have faith.

If a child lives with approval
she learns to like herself.

If a child lives with acceptance and friendship
he learns to find love in the world.

Oh, good, fisil!

The second (but the same!) version came from buddhamind - it is a very Buddhist sentiment. Lovely for a naming

Thank you again. Do you have a "source" that I can give (e.g. who wrote it or where it comes from?)

No - author unknown, source apparently unknown, no title even. Interesting! (Will dig around a bit when I have more time )

(Thank you for your beautiful nappy announcement btw! Meant to email you at the time.)
