yes I do. I don't think everything has to be explainable (is that a word?). I think there has got to be a point to it all. I alo believe in after life, ghosts and angels.

I value everyone's beliefs. I have always thought that those people who believe in something - no matter what they call it (God, Mohammed, Allah, etc) should be left to their beliefs.

If you imagine religion as a mountain, we all start at the bottom, ok from different sides possibly, but when we reach the top there is just one summit, although it may have taken us all different ways to get there and we may refer to it by different names.

NO not at all there is simply no evidence and there is more evidence that there is no God than that ther is one.

Also I really wonder why I am at all bothered. In the end even if there was a God I wouldnt care. It would make no diference at all to the way I live.

Yes, I most definitely believe in God. Most of us believe in things for which there is no 'proof'. Believing in God isn't about proof, it's about faith. I have faith that love exists but I can't prove it. The world is so astonishing and actually doesn't make a lot of sense unless there is 'something' behind it. Finally, if I need reminding of the reality of the divine I only have to look into the eyes of my children.

No, with all the pain and suffering in this world and some truely evil people, how can there be a god to allow this to go on. Religion is used as an excuse for fighting and sick behavouir too. I have never believed in god or religion and to my knowledge never hurt anyone, i am a good person and don't need to believe in fairy tales to prove it

No I don´t believe in God . I tend to look for the Great Spirit in the Self (me) and in fabric of Life - but I don´t worship, except to say I love Earth and respect Her. I do feel bonds with Universal energy, the Soul, the dimensions of the Soul which includes the realms of existence beyond our average human perception. I feel that humans are in the majority withheld via religion, the social and political framework that has been created in its many forms from really exploring beyond the figurehead of God.

I don´t see one summit to achieve, rather a enormous moutain range to explore that is endless. If absolute truth existed, the journey I believe would lose its lustre. But then many of us like the drugless drug - a utopian comforter in its many forms.

We don´t live and let live - humans always want to conquer and reform others beliefs. God and religion is such a debated and diverse concept... that has not moved much and is rehashed like this article Darwin on trial in Kansas debate

I would like to. But I find the act of such 'faith' just too difficult. I would love to have religion really expained to me so I could try to understand what it really is that people believe. Going to church furthers those who do believe but for those of us who want to start at the beginning its not much help

Nope, find it very difficult to understand how anyone can believe in an almighty power (personified) that rules from the heavens and made us all.... quite ridiculous really. Especially considering how many religions there are in the world.... how many Gods are there supposed to be???

I find it quite sad that human beings can beleive in something so blindly.

There is the major God figure of Muslim, Buddhist, Christian, Judaism etc etc faiths and then they filter down into which branch of the faith you belief in. Some religions have many Gods, Earth based beliefs, Hinduism. So you see how I get to billions. One for each animal, mineral and vegetable on just this planet. If a person wishes to belief in God, well then the deity range is enormously varied and accessible. Atheists can have an appreciation for the spirit and the natural world around them also. And as the concept of God is frequently seen as infinite then it is endless and unable to be one God alone.

my brother believes in god, and says to me that god doesn't let bad things happen - he gives people free will and if they choose to do bad things, that is there choice, and so are the repercussions - i can understand this - however, i don't understand how god can let nature disasters happen (like the tsunami) - surely these are not caused by bad people

I am a lapsed Christian, I now don't believe in a god, but rather like Papillon I believe in the power of the Earth and of universal energy. I do believe that we have a soul, and that the soul is eternal, but I don't believe that our souls are either rewarded with heaven or punished by hell.

I don't think that I need to believe in a god, either to have a focus in my life or to be a good person.

I agree with ionesmum, without belief in God the world makes no sense to me.

I just think that since we do (well most of us) have an innate sense of justice and hate to see innocent people suffering or evil people going unpunished, and since in reality it does happen that many people suffer their whole lives - slaves, people living in poverty - while other people can commit genocide, murder, torture, and never be brought to account, I just cannot accept that there won't be a Judgement and an evening of all the scores.

The other thing I find absolutely mind-boggling is how come as far as we know there is only life on this planet - how come the conditions were exactly right - I just don't believe it was an accident.
