Spiritualists.....any more of us here?

I've been a spiritualist for a few years now, are there any others here? I'm off to the divine service at my church tonight. I go to a development group as much as I can and am coming on well. There are some amazing mediums at our church and it's great to mix with like minds.

Me! I've been drawn towards it over the past couple of years and in the past few months have started going to church regularly as I've been taking my PILs who can't drive themselves any more. I love it and love all the healing that I get while I'm there.

I do enjoy the mediumship part, although for me the emphasis on the evidence is too great and sometimes there isn't much of a message. But that's just me. I guess because I "believe" then I don't need the evidence, but I understand that it does need to be given to some people.

I've been to one open platform night and had a go. But I tend to prefer to do readings on a one to one basis for people.

that's great

Do either of you ever go to workshops? I was at one today and gave some good readings. I prefer one to one too surfermum.

I've done a few workshops. I've done psychic awareness which gave me a good grounding (excuse the pun lol). I've also done an Angel workshop and a Unicorn workshop (in Somerset fransmom!) which were fab - I had a weekend away and stayed in a little B&B on my own and that in itself was great, no children, no dh, fluffy dressing gown, wine, chocolate, Heat magazine and telly.

Most of my abilities have been practiced with my work colleagues. I have been very lucky in that quite a few of us are into this sort of thing in one form or another, so I tend to trade readings for some reiki.

It's been a wonderful journey for me. I've gone from not believing in anything to finding that a lot of things I'd associated with religion make sense to me now (God, a higher power, the light, praying, singing hymns). And it's very comforting.

I have changed a great deal too - less anxious about all sorts of things, I try not to be judgmental, just calmer and happier really. The last time I went on a meet up the other mumsnetters said how calm and happy I looked.

i agree surfermum, it totally changes your outlook.

I just did my reiki 1 and practise on friends and family with good results, I can't wait to do 2.

That weekend sounds great. I'm thinking of going away to a workshop too.

How are you guys today?

I am getting shed loads of healing right now. My Dad is poorly and may lose his sight , Mum isn't coping at all well, dh's mum has cancer and has had two hip replacements and now his Dad has been admitted with heart/breathing problems.

I've called upon some help from the Universe and I keep getting a really warm back, really warm round my ears and I just know I'm being supported . A couple of Reiki master friends are sending healing too.

I'd never have coped like this before I had faith .

Sorry to hear your news surfermum, I'll send healing too. I agree you can get so much help from the universe if you ask.
Is there any hope for your dad's sight? It must be an awful strain for you and dh. Does he have any faith? xx

Hi

I hope you don't mind me posting here but am looking for advice and this seemed a good place

For as long as I can remember I have always been aware of 'things' around me and can often feel presences of perhaps other beings/spirits.

I really would like to find out more about this and what I could do. I feel perhaps I am capable of more than I am doing!

This probably doesn't make much sense but am really hoping it does to someone.

Thank you

Thanks JD. It looks like his 2nd eye is going to be OK now, they've caught it in time. DH has always had a Christian faith, it's something I had always admired him for but never quite understood ... until more recently! His parents are very involved in the local spiritualist church, she's a platform medium, and he's always taken the mickey a bit ("she's not a medium, she's a large" sort of thing ) but he doesn't actually dismiss any of it, and goes along with all the "weird" things I keep talking about and doing. He's actually a very good healer and feels "stuff" a lot. He used to see people's auras when he was little.

Hi Wangle. It does make sense . One book I read that made me think "oh my goodness, I do this stuff" was Doreen Virtue's How to Hear Your Angels. Is there a "new age" type shop near you, the sort that sells crystals and the like? Maybe have a browse at some of the books there and see what you are drawn to. The other thing I did was to go on a course on psychic awareness via our local shop.

Hi surfermum
what is involved in a Unicorn Workshop?

I bet you know my sister. She lives in Northbourne and is always doing Angel workshops.

Oh wow, I might well know her!

The Unicorn workshop was lovely. We did lots of meditations and met our own unicorn. We did things like writing down problems or worries and asking the unicorns to help solve them. We did some unicorn healing on each other too. It was much like the Angel day, if you've done one, but with the energy of unicorns. There were such lovely people there and the energy was lovely.
