Hmmm don't think I know any in Bristol but can ask around for you if you like? My parents are converts and seem to know a network of sonverts all over the country, (although they all seem to be Hippy sufi types, not sure if that owould suit you?) grin

Riven - I feel terrible that I don't see you more but because I only have two non working days, its bleeding manic and I'm pfb about DS's naps as well..still!! grin

I'm sure we will have sister's gatherings in Ramadan - I'll let you know when they are and you are very welcome to come along. I was toying with the idea of an Eid party for all the kids at Playspace (DD would be welcome) but stressed that no-one would turn up! Just as well though as the garden going to skint us!

Ooh, playspace at St Phillips?

We'll go!

Riven, shall I check out St Mark's Road for organizations? Am going to Sweet Mart tomorrow anyway....

PussinJimmyChoos Fri 15-Aug-08 21:07:59

LovemyDog - yes that's it! I love it there for DS! Have I met you before? I love Sweet Mart! Have you tried Masala Bazaar too? The halal meat counter is very clean and nice...the chap behind it wasn't bad on the eye either!! wink

Oooh Oooh!! Just remembered! Its the Islamic Cultural fayre in Eastville Park on the Bank Hol weekend - not sure if its the Sat or Sun..I think its the sun - ideal place to start! I'll be there, Insha'Allah!

Last year, I made the mistake of wearing a sweatshirt, that had a (small!) American flag... probably not the smartest move, but I just didn't think!

Great food though! smile

Riven - course you can! Can meet you there - DH is making noises though as apparently the Sat is the Syrian Medical association meeting and he wants to go to that...I have a feeling the fayre is on the Sunday though..will check the website etc...

Riven, do you want me to go into the Mosque on St Mark's Road and ask about women's groups or is this a different type of Mosque than yours?

Good excuse to try new Balti next to Sweet Mart! smile

Not Muslim, but am happy to stop by and see if I can get any information for you. Unless I'm supposed to be Muslim? Will cover up etc...

Used to live in Totterdown where the oman had an open door policy and welcomed people...

ummadam Sat 16-Aug-08 15:24:35

riven - are you a member of they have a yahoo group aswell and there is a lady on there who reminds me of you

might be a good way of meeting people.

ummadam Sat 16-Aug-08 15:28:53

ps. they seem to be redoing their website so some of the links are inactive at the moment.

the egroup is here and this one might also be useful as they send out a national list of events.
