My sis has paid for it for my birthday present, but im a little scared now! the reading is meant to take about an hour, and she wanted to do it face to face rather than send it to me.
Are they allowed to tell me detailed bad stuff?
if anyone has read any of my other threads (in lone parents) you will know my life probably cant get (much) worse, touch wood!

Am scared i will just hear that i have another few "challenging" years ahead of me, etc, etc...

OR she will fill me with false hope, and i'll be waiting and waiting, but the promised good stuff never comes...

I would keep an open mind, and don't dwell on things that you may be told. You can end up doing the things that you have been told by making it happen yourself if that makes sense. Somethings can be uncanny.

it isn't usual for somebody to sit in as it can mix up the reading!

Recently on Jeremy Vine it was discussed that there is supposed to be a new regulation which means psychics are to be covered under consumer rights ie in theory if what they say is the future doesnt come true you would have the right to sue them for compensation. The tarot reading lady said this was unfair.

JV asked why if they are genuine what is wrong with giving an indemnity? Tarot lady says because your future is determined by your actions more or less and can be changed from the time of your reading.

Begs the question, genuine or not,
what's the point?

It is well known that people with happy, contented well adjusted lives dont tend to visit psychics it tends to be people in need of comfort, guidance and the promise of happy times on the horizon so readings tend to be geared towards these people and be very generic.

A friend persuaded me to go to a supposed extremely accurate tarot reader once - highly recommended by loads of people and mentioned in some magazine or other. I was 32 and going through a hard/transitional (!) time. She told me I would have 7 children. She told me I marry 3 times. She told me I would have 4 miscarriages. She told me I would meet 'the right man' by the time I was 25 and have a child by him, wouldn't stay with him, but get back together with him when I was in my 30s and he would be my 3rd husband.

As I say, I was already 32 with no kids, no interest in kids, no interest in hooking up permanently with a man at all. When I pointed out my age, she was flabbergasted and admitted she thought I was 22! Very flattering. This 'reader' had been lauded as uncannily accurate and all sorts of other blah in print; apparently she did readings for celebrities etc.

I married for the first time when I was 38. I had one child at 41. I have been through the menopause and will not have 7 (phew!). I have had 2 miscarriages.

It's all rubbish. Sorry.

i think this is just don to a common misconception and of course the scammers. Tarot Readings are not meant to be about finding out your future. You are not mean to go for a reading to find out your future. If it happens to mention something related to it then great but going for a tarot reading is meant to be about gaining further insight or guidance for your life at the moment. Say you are trying to decide to go for a new job. A tarot reading may pinpoint some cons to it that you hadn't thought about, or suggest that an alternate career could be more suited. It could look at your reasons for going for the job.

A tarot reading is meant to work on bringing what is in your unconscious, to the surface, to help understand and make better decisions in your life. When you dream for instance, your unconscious is meant to be at work and it can be why sometimes you wake up suddenly realising the solution to a problem.

Its NOT meant to tell you that you will have 60 children, marry a hunch back from notre dam and move to the Sahara desert, where you will strike it rich with a busy camel wash business.

I dont believe that all people who go to a reader are gullible, i dont believe all readers are scammers, i do believe there is something in it, because it has been around for so long its true origins cant be traced. ith the new laws coming in, what have you got to lose? After all if they get it wrong you can always sue them...

If you are worried that you will see a scammer then why not learn how to read them for yourself- its not hard to grasp, and you don't need a "gift" to do it.

take a tape recorder with you and then you can go over things at your leisure.

And take it with a pinch of salt!
