Thinking of going to Spiritualist Church for first time

I'm currently reading Gordon Smith's book and it's got me interested in going along to our local spiritualist church. I've found the address online and the times etc and am thinking of going tomorrow evening. What should I expect when I go? Am I likely to feel out of place walking in on my own? Any advice appreciated.

I'm really enjoying it. I do find him a wee touch smug in places, but overall finding it really interesting.

Just mentioned my intention to DH and he's said he'd like to come with me (which means taking DD - almost 2). Are they somewhere kids are welcome or would I be better asking him to babysit while I go alone?

It would be better to go alone - Spiritualist Churches tend to give an amazing sense of calm which I think would be lost with a toddler to keep an eye on

I have seen Gordon Smith a couple of times; he is amazing.

Spiritualist 'services' are quite long (about 2 hours , but could be because Gordon Smith was there and therefore was a special one ) so I think it's best not to take children along.

Try and go with someone because if you receive a message it's useful to have someone to discuss details with afterwards as you may be overawed and forget quite a bit.

I have been going to spirtual churches for many years, I was a secretary of a church for 3 years. There are some excellent mediums and others that are not so good. The good mediums do not need to fish for information, they will tell you what they are getting. If you get a message don't assume its from a person you are hoping to hear from.
