Whoops, sorry about that Panda - Hope you do get the job!

Awwwwwww, NotanOtter - that is v.sweet - I honestly don't think you'd want to be more like me - we're all sinners here - we've all fallen short of the Glory of God! You want to be more like Jesus!! Anyway - you've not "introduced" yourself yet - I'm Dippy. 25, married for 5 yrs to DH, 27, 3 DD's, 3.7 yrs; 2.4 yrs & 5 months. Think I've been a Christian 10 yrs

MaryBS · 27/09/2007 08:32

CD, love the thread title

Panda/Sooz, a spiritual director is someone I can turn to and talk things through confidentially, particularly if its about matters of faith, or things that have happened which have affected me deeply. Its usually someone away from the parish. A sort of mentor. The priest is the same priest who helped me when I was concerned about whether I'd be able to carry on. She is a lovely lady, and I'm very lucky.

MaryBS · 27/09/2007 08:34

Update on N. She came home at the weekend!!!! It was SO lovely to see her! She still needs an operation to close off her ear, but the drs are happy because she'd lost blood supply to the ear, but now they've been able to restore it. Thank you for ALL your prayers! Faith moves mountains (and flesh-eating bugs too, it seems)

CaptainCaveman · 27/09/2007 09:12

Wow Mary, praise God indeed, that is fabulous!

Thanks CD, you are very kind to do us the prayer summary. I'm cream-crackered this monring and just about to plough back in to assingment....will see you when I've finished!

NOA - you are most welcome and thank you for your kind words! We're all trying to be more like Jesus and it may be a cliche but I try to remember to ask myself 'what would Jesus do?' when faced with things that irk or trouble me. (dont' always remember though )

Right, I'm off to bury my nose in books...

MarsLady · 27/09/2007 09:16

Me again! Just a quick prayer of praise.

All three babies born. Last day to complete essay.

Thank you for your prayers. Especially appreciated yesterday as baby 3 gave us a scary moment the beginning but all well now Praise God!!!!!!!!!!!!

Am feeling rather fluey but haven't time to give in to it. Today absolute LAST day to finish essay and French. Will have to courier it to Milton Keynes in time for deadline tomorrow.

Thanks again!

CaptainDippy · 27/09/2007 11:14

All hail Mars!! - You ARE amazing - Praying for you as you finish off the essay and the French - Then GIVE IN - go to bed for at least a week , I command you - Praying for strength ......

Great stuff about the Spiritual Director, Mary .... and Praise God for N's return home - incredible - what a Faithful God we have! My gran had a Flesh Eating bug about a year ago and she lost half her ear (obviously a ear thing!!?) She is fine now ....

Hope the study is going ok CC, praying .....

I'm ok Panda, just stressed ..... lots to do, not enough time to do it; but the main worry is the fact that we are completely penniless atm Just had our 'phone cut off - no money for food or anything (though we do have our cupboards relatively well stocked - ish). Really scary.

"Blessed be your name ........."

Praying for provision CD

CaptainDippy · 27/09/2007 11:34

Thank you - we're going to need it!

OP posts:
Roseylea · 27/09/2007 11:36

CD mega prayers for you. I have been penniless and I still find money a bit scary now (as a result of that time).

NAO, what a lovely thing to say! But yes, as CD said, don't try to be like us, aim to be more like Jesus. He is the only good in any of us! We sang a song at church on Sunday and one line of it has ben buzzing aroud my head this week: "May my single purpose be to imitate your life". Does anyone know what song / hymn that comes from, because that's the only bit I can remember! Godf must be wanting me to remember it...

I have made myself a timetable of what housework chores to do on each day and I feel like I've just been given my new timetable for the school year! I hope it is gong to make me less stressed as I'll won't be thinking that I have to do everything right now. So this afternoon it's paperwork and admin. Does anyone else do this?

CaptainDippy · 27/09/2007 11:39

Anyway - Toilet Prayer!

"My Father, I abandon myself to you. Do with me as you will. Whatever you may do with me I thank you. I am prepared for anything. I accept everything, provided your will is fulfilled in me and in all creatures. I ask for nothing more, my God. I place my soul in your hands. I give it to you, My God, with all the love of my heart, because I love you. And for me it is a necessity of love, this gift of myself, this placing of myself in your hands without reserve in boundless confidence, because you are my Father."

Charles de Foucauld, 1858 - 1916.

Woah - I am crying here - I didn't read that before I typed it out - Just what I needed to read right at this moment. God is my Father and He loves me. Nothing else matters.

OP posts:
CaptainDippy · 27/09/2007 11:42

Hope the timetable helps, Rosey - TBH, I don't have enough time to schedule in proper time for stuff - I just sort of run round like a headless chicken and do what I can!! I find that tidying up as you go along REALLY helps - if you keep everything that you are not using tidy and put away it makes life so much less stressful - I am not good with mess! I make my children play with a couple of things at a time and put stuff away when they are not using it anymore - doesn't always work, but they are pretty good most of the time! We always have a big "family tidy up" just before bed - we make it into a bit of a game and they love it!

I'd love a cleaner!

How long did your time of poverty last, rosey?

OP posts:
CaptainCaveman · 27/09/2007 12:22

Prayers of provision for your family CD - how long do you expect the situation to last?

Rosey I have no system, just chaos! At work my desk is always clear and I never leave it in a mess - shame my house is the exact polar opposite

Well just the recommendations, introduction and exec summary to type. The rest is a huge pile of bobbins and truly needs a miracle to pass - but I believe in miracles .

gotta dash, have to be at a meeting for 1pm.

hugs and prayers to you all xxx

podglet · 27/09/2007 13:08

Hi all,

Thanks for the new thread CD, helped me to concentrate on praying for you all, now I can catch up onwhat to pray for hoping your situation sorts itself soon

Great news for your friend Mary

All ok here in our little corner. DS hasn't had a sleep today yet so he will be popped in his cot soon! Had friends here this morning and my bf here later with her DT's which will be fun! Can't help worrying about my little bean though - please don't laugh but I don't have any pg "symptoms" which worries me a little (I know, i should be counting my blessings) - by this point (8+5) with DS I had morning sickness, whilst not nice is reassuring IYSWIM??? I know I am being silly but I so want everything to be ok.

Off to convince my young man that sleep is a good idea...

CaptainDippy · 27/09/2007 14:23

NOT silly AT ALL, podglet ...... Not long til your scan though, eh!!? I felt a it like that with DD3 - I didn't really have any PG symptoms and was a bit worried - all worries were cleared when I saw my lovely little bean stretching and kicking on the sonographers screen though!! Not long now ..... Hope your little man sleeps for you - and that you can have a wee rest too, not easy growing these Beans!!

Praying for you as you finish off the assignment, CC - The situation has lasted about 5 years so far ..... so no hope of resolution in the near future, I'm afraid - Has got really bad now though.

Friend BIL is here now (he has Downs and I'm looking afterhim for the PM), I'm just finishing the housework while he does some colouring. P is sleeping - hurrah!

CD - pray that God will provide for you and your family.

Rosey, I googled that hymn and found it - lovely words! Can you tell me what hymn book its in? I might suggest it for our church, based on the words alone!

Multiply your love through us
To the lost and the least.
Let us be your healing hands
Your instruments of peace.
May our single purpose be
To imitate your life
Through our simple words and deeds
Let love be multiplied. (CHORUS)]

CHORUS
Let us see Your kingdom
To the poor and broken ones
Let us see a mighty flood
Of justice and mercy, O Jesus
Let love be multiplied.
Let love be multiplied.

Multiply your love through me
To someone in need
help me Lord to freely give
This grace that I've received
Let my single purpose be
To imitate Your life
Through my simple words and deeds
Let love be multiplied. (CHORUS)

Multiply your church through us
To the ends of the earth
Where there's only barrenness
Let us see new birth
Use us as Your laborers
Working side by side
Let us see Your harvest come
Let love be multiplied. (CHORUS)

ZipadiSuzy · 27/09/2007 15:56

CD - Wow sweetie, I'm so sorry your broke, not a nice situation, we were there for 11 years, until dh was made redundant recently, its pants!!!!!!

If there is anything I can do, please let me know.

The biggest lesson I learnt when we were broke is that as long as we could eat and pay bills, and a credit card bill as long as your arm [eeeeeek] - I remember once, we ate everything in the house. Camping for 5 days on 40 pounds.

Prayers for improvement on the money side

ZipadiSuzy · 27/09/2007 16:07

Prayers for my ds 3yo - feeling poorly, he said he needs to go to 'Ambers headache shop' aw sweetheart! keeps flopping around and a bit hot.

I've just realised what he means, dd had a headache frequently so I took her to the opticians, (process of illimination) he wants to go to the opticians.

I'm hoping this is just another cold!

Right on with coursework.

Thanks Mary - I remember it now! It was a Missions service on Sunday, and we had a missionary speaker so that song was v. apt. I don't know what hymn book it's in I'nm afraid as we were using an OHP, but I'd guess it's in one of the newer ones as it's a modern song.

Prayers for your ds Suze - I'm just doling out Calpol to dd now so my heart is with you!

bobsmum · 27/09/2007 19:35

Aches and pains from car crash all disappeared yesterday morning!! Thank you Lord!

Feel fine again - apart from all day sickness [nausea emoticon].

Phoned insurance people today to find out progress with car and told them my ref. number. Person on the phone then said "oh yes. I'll put you through to the Total Loss department" So we've definitely lost the car!

God gave us the car in the first place though for well under half of what it's worth so we're praying that he'll be similarly gracious when it comes to replacing it

WE were running the car on vegetable oil (40p a litre cheaper than diesel and much greener) and dh had just bought another 12 5 l bottles from Asda. Thankfully timing is good - it's harvest next week and Glasgow City Mission are doing a collection from ds' school - wonder what they'll think when I turn up with that lot!!

Finances are tight but just about manageable here - have recently discovered the joys of Lidl - what a fab shop!!

Dh still looking for work - contract runs put in February.

Praying for you all. Especially for God's provision CD

bobsmum · 27/09/2007 19:50

Me again.

Police have just phoned.

I've been leaving them messages after they'd said they would need to speak to me again and no one replied. So I dropped off my documents at the station this morning and the officer I spoke to seemed to think it was finished with.

But now another officer wants to speak to me tomorrow about "procedure" and "what happens next". I'm a bit worried now. I really thought it would just be points on my licence, but this sounds a bit more serious .
