I am so freaked out at the moment, and yet so relaxed as it all makes sense ...

(Bit of background first)

Im absolutlt terrified of flying. I have flown about a dozen times, last time being 7 years ago. Up until then i was OK, but felt VERY uncomfatable on planes, but on my last flight I was 15 and felt REALLY freaked. It was my last family holiday and have nevr flown since.

I have repeated dreams about plane crashes, they have slowed down lately but about 6 months ago i would have about 3 a week !

Sometimes Im in the plane, sometimes im watching it and it just explodes. I always imagine or see myself sat looking down the isles, its horrible.

Anyway tonight I watched this programme about 'past lives' and my mum came round after. I was telling her about the little lad on it who recalled his past life and they looked it up and (most - but not all) of it was true.

She said you did something like that when you wre little, Then went quiet.

I tried to get the story from her for about 10 minutes and she said When i was little i told her I had died in a car crash.

I just laughed,

but I could tell she wasn't giving me the full story, so cue another 15 minutes of badgering and she finally tells me ...

When i was just gone 2.5 i SAID TO HER

'MUM, DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN I WAS ON THE PLANE AND IT SET ON FIRE AND i DIED?'

apparantly i would tell my mum I was sat on the plane and there was fire everywhere and then I died,

and every time I saw one in the sky i would say, I died n that plane mummy.

Now you probably all think im BONKERS, but when she told me i cried, and im shaking now.

Its not just a fearI have, its something more (ive posted about it before under the name kittylette - its a paralysing fear)

And it all just seems to make sense now, the things I see in my dreams and the way I feel about planes.

But I also feel in a way its a warning - not to go on one, even though all evidence points to a past thing.

God Im just rambling here, and I know you will all say 'kids say weird stuff'

but what I said back then in relation to the dreams and pictures I still have now,

its just really freaked me out TBH.

Don't worry Kits,I'm totally intrigued about this! Do you think you want to pursue it and look up any plane crashes that happened around your birth year? If you feel it would help you then why not...

I read a book recently about children who remembered their past lives. Fascinating. I think it was called Children Who Have Lived Before.

It would also make perfect sense, however it means embracing the fact that there is life after death. Which people are uncomfortable with in general.

Dp is scared of water and has been since being a young baby/child. I wonder whether this could be an indication of something too?

kitsandbits · 19/08/2007 23:39

Im not sure, from what I gather it doesnt have to be around the time of your birth,

I dont have any other details ... god this is so weird, not even sure i believe in reincarnation - or even if this is what i think happened!

I just know something seems to fit :s

Yes I think children, although they have brilliant imaginations, also are unlikely to make up such detailed 'deaths' - where would they get that concept from?

lots of religions believe in reincarnation, kitty, it's a really interesting area. did you get married yet, btw? how did it all go?

hi kidsandpits,
could it be something maybe you heard or watched before you were 2.5 and it effected you very much?

That is REALLY fascinating . I'm shit scared of flying aswell, after a bad experience 7 years ago . I'm flying for the first time since, on wednesday! But omg, you must be in total shock at hearing what your mum had to say . Do you think you'll look into it any further?

kitsandbits · 19/08/2007 23:42

I believe in afterlife, but not sure about reincarnation.

I dont think my mum would let me watch anything scary at that age!

I dont know if I can,

Imean Id like to know if it is a memory, iykwim

because if its a memory then its in the past.

Im scared itsa a warning and I couldnt ever imagine myself flying before this,

just seems theres no chance now

Hmm, suppose you may have seen the news or film at an age where you didn't understand the full concept of what was happening. That's playing devil's advocate of course...

No I'm convinced its something more as you've just reacted so strongly to your mum's news. I would suggest a session where you go into past lives through hypnosis (regression therapy I think its called?) but I wouldn't have a clue where to start looking for a therapist. Probably pricey too...but then if it stopped your fear it may be worth it...

Perhaps as a very young child you had a dream about a plane crash; you were too young to comprehend the dream's unreality so you spoke to your mum about it as if it were real?

THe dream might have been disturbing enough to sow the seeds of your current fear of flying?

Though I'm a determined sceptic, things like this do set me thinking. When my son was very tiny I spilt a bucket of water in the kitchen, and although I know he saw nothing at all of the event, he spoke at length about 'all the water going everywhere' anmd it really seemed to me that he had 'seen' my perception of the event. (Trivial example, I know.)

When my mum was little she talked a lot about her brother who drowned and the name of a welsh town. She was a single child and lived in Yorkshire yet the place existed and to this day she is scared or water although she can't remember "her brother". Perhaps there is more to this than strange things children say.

Things like this really freak me out! Lol.

I had a plane crash dream last night, but I think its only because I was really thinking about this last night.

I kept waking up doing that thing where you can't breathe too.

Think this might of made things worse, lol

Kits

have not had a similar experience myself, but ds said to me when he was 2, "mummy, when you were a little baby and I was your daddy, you fell in the stinky water and was drownded and i was crying".

Freaked me out a bit, and he has had an irrational fear of water since a baby...terrified at the swimming pool etc. He talked about it a couple of times and now aged 4 it has stopped.....it does make me curious though.

Have also read the book called children who have lived before and it makes interesting reading, although öld souls" is more scientific in its approach so wins more stars from me

Great thread, great story! I'd be interested to know if you do get to follow up what the results are.

My DH used to talk about a past life when he was a child - all about the Congo and soldiers there - detail he is unlikely to have known from anywhere when he was that age. Now he has a picture in his head but he is unsure if that is from hearing him mum recount his descriptions back. She was so worried about him she took him to the doctor who didn't know what to make of it, but had to go and look up to see if the type of detail given would be correct - and it was. No specific names or traceable events though.

Me - I have a theory - though it is only that - that I died in a fire and also that I was once hunted down by soliders. I am not sure if they are linked or not as my dreams never end with me being found by the soldiers, or with fire. As a kid however I used to wake up and be convinced the house was burning down. I would wake my mum up to go and check the house at times. I quite enjoy a fire to watch though but am always ultra careful with candles, to make sure I know escape routes, and with smoke alarms etc etc. I never have dreamt of dying in a fire though, it is just a feeling I have. The hunted down by soldiers thing is wierd though. It is a recurring dream though always in familiar surroundings like my grandparents old houses etc. I try and hide, am not actually found, but I know my life depends on it. I am not sure exactly what the circumstances are for this though - it is not clearly say a jew hiding from the nazis. I also do not feel like I am guilty of anything though, rather that I am persecuted.

I would love to look into it further one day but finding the time....!

it hink what you are looking for is regressional hypnosis/ regressional hypnotherapy or regression therapy as one lady said. some people use different names to describe same things. the best place to start would, i think, be a spiritualist church and then go from there.

i too have had the feeling lately that problems which have remained unsolved from past lives are now impinging on this one-
have always wanted to go in navy but never been able to fully explain why (all my family were army);
self-esteem issues that can't eb fully exlpained by childhood circumstances etc.

very interesting area to explore/ contemplate

I think our lives are eternal and that we are 'manifest' now - alive now - followed by, well, a period of snooze, waiting for the right conditions to start over. When we are small we can recall what has happened before just as we can remember a dream on wakening.

I also think we come back into living with people we have strong connections with before, so parents become our kids, husbands our siblings etc... we remain connected.

I couldn't explain your experience kidsinbits but it's very interesting isn't it
