Positivity, meditation, creative visualisation, anyone?

Hello, am currently really interested in the subject of creative visualisation and feeling positive with use of meditation and affirmations. Would like to know if anyone else has tried and succeeded in changing their take on life and hence improved their lives?

Have always thought of myself as a realist. However, have lately been feeling the news/world focus is so negative that I need to move my own focus the other way & bring more joy into my life and my family's rather than worrying all the time!

I'm a Christian. Recently I have been suffering from anxiety after my children were ill around th etime of the birth of my ds. I do find regularly saying to myself things like, 'My children are well and healthy', 'I can cope with anything that happens' and 'We are all happy to be together again' really helps. I do throw in my faith too, but don't believe it is necessary to do so if you are a non-believer.

Hi I use visulisation a lot. Meditation takes practice and is quite difficult to begin with - especially if you have a busy mind. Try lying down somewhere where you feel safe and comfortable, with no distractions, close your eyes and breath deeply into your nose and out through your mouth. Concentrate on the breath and imagine the breath filling up your lower abdomen (like a basin) and when you exhale see the breath leaving. Then imagine the scenario you wish to affect, see yourself achieving this thing, picture yourself doing what it is you want to do. If it is to heal your mind/body/spirit visualise yourself surrounded by white light and allow the light to go to whever your mind is directing it. It takes a wee while to get the kanck but if you keep practising it is very effective. The breathing is important as most of us tend to breath into our upper chest and not deep down into our lower lungs. It is deep breathing which relaxes and nourishes the body.
Good luck!

Afternoon, ruty! Am spending far too much time here as you see, but it's a distraction from what has been going on. How are you doing?

i used to see a hands on healer who used visualisation techniques along with relaxation, i came out of a depressed period during this time and started sleeping better and feeling more positive so its definitely worth a try.

we're all fine, i'm trying to knuckle down to the writing. getting somewhere i hope. Thinking of you all and hoping things are looking up.
Sorry for hijacking BTW. I do think postive thoughts and visualization are extremely useful - they are also part of prayer too.

We creatively visualise here on this thread - we have been doing this for about 2 years now!
