I am really interested in learning about Buddhism, I have very little knowledge currently.

Many thanks.

I have just rented some from our library, not specifically on Buddhism as there weren't any, but ones on world religions. They have some good information about the basics of all religions and some good details about Buddhism.

My 10yo DS1 announced the other day that he thinks he is Buddhist so we are finding out a bit more.

We also found the bbc website has a really good section on Buddhism as well.

If you do find a good book for beginners please let me know as we would also be interested.Smile

There's a very good section on this on the BBC website. I found that a very good starting point. I also got out the slimmest book I could find on the topic in my local library. There's another thread where someone posted a link to Secular Buddhism.

I'd like to be a Buddhist but I don't think I'd make a very good one as I can't stop negative thoughts about people. Maybe it takes a while and you have to train yourself to be a better person?

But I like the idea of not worshipping a God but having a strong moral code. I'm sure there's more to it than that of course!

Chicaguapa - one of the strands is about loving kindness or some such towards yourself and others. I think once you believe all these feelings, even intense negative ones, are transitory, you can just let them go by without investing too much in them. Just speculating, I'm less than 3 weeks into this.
