oh I'm dead impressed with what you're doing - I don't think it's trivial at all !

Sounds to me that you are climbing your own mountain in a way... I am also a compulsive overeater and find 12-step Overeaters Anonymous
a fabulous support.

I wish you all the very best - prayers a-plenty. I love the bible verse that says he will present us without 'spot or wrinkle' - he does the job of getting us there, our job is just to turn up!

Praying 4 u Thingamywotsita! A Bible passage that really helped me with self image is Ephesians 2, 10. Skit Guys enact it brilliantly (go onto Youtube & type in Skit Guys Masterpiece - God's Chisel). Many translations say, "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do". I prefer masterpiece, it never makes me feel anything less than really special! The rest of the verse is very apt for you too - good works indeed, well done!

Wow! You're doing so well, thingamywotsita... Congratulations!

Don't forget to come back and update us when you've climbed Snowdon!

I have been walking more and more. todayg managed 11 miles. 4 months ago I struggled with stairs! today on my walk listening to the quiet of the countryside I was feeling so alive and thankful I praised god out loud and said thanks for this. this strength I didn't know I had. this body he gave me and this world that is so gorgeous but so easy to take for granted. a few seconds after with no birds in sight a single purewhite feather floated down in front of my path. I kept it. its a sign don't you think! grin

I agree there is nothing trivial about what you are doing, and will certainly send you my support and good wishes. If you start struggling up the mountain then you have all your friends there to support you. Like Tuo said, if you have somewhere hilly near you where you can train it will really help - work on reducing your recovery time after each exertion, but take it gently. Skipping is a great way of increasing your stamina too (but wear a really good bra!). Remember one of the great things about Snowdon is you can at least get the train back down smile .

Good wishes from me too. You can do it and you've done so well so far. You should be proud of yourself.

My son has a special project to make up a prayer (or good vibes) about thinking about someone he doesn't know doing amazing things.
I'll tell him about you so he can pray for you and send you positive wishes.

You are doing fantastically well - your achievement is not trivial at all! flowers

I have walked a marathon (Moonwalk) 3 times (though I am not very fit and am quite overweight, so 26 miles is quite a big deal for me). Seven miles in two hours is good, honestly. And remember that stamina, not speed, is the thing. It's not a race - you just need to get there. The thing will be to practice walking up hills (I am great on the flat, but hate hills) and to find a pace that you're comfortable with and keep to it - don't set off at a trot, because you'll just tire yourself out. Carry snacks (bananas are good) and nibble them, don't walk till you're hungry and then stop to eat, but have a bite of something every 20 mins or so. Likewise with water - just sip regularly (I find this makes me feel like I need the loo less, too).

Sending prayers for sure, and if you PM me a link to your fundraising page I'll also send a donation. (If you don't want to share your details with a complete stranger, though, I'll understand...)

Good luck...

Can't give you prayers but I can give you my best wishes. It sounds to me like you have made really great progress. You have a lot there to be proud of. Seeing you fighting this has probably already helped encourage others.

Don't worry about the mountain. It's the trying that counts and you are trying.

Of course you can do this! Hers some support coming you way!

hi, first time so be gentle smile in January I was a size 26 I am now a 20 in January I decided I wanted to change my life, get healthy, be a better role model for my daughters. I set myself a goal. that in July I would be fit enough to climb Snowdon. I roped in friends and work mates and I am leading them up the mountain, I chose to raise money for Swindon special care baby unit as I have had several friends whose children wouldn't be here today without them. I am also doing race for life in June too. I am scared. I have battled depression and have compulsive over eating disorder. on a bad day I will eat till I am in pain or am sick, these days are getting fewer and further between but I will always struggle with this demon. today I walked 7 miles it took 2 hours. I am shattered it made me worry I won't be able to do this, I don't want to let anyone down or myself down, but what if I can't do this? can you pray for me? for strength and courage? I want to change my life, I want to be free from obesity and be a better healthier me and I need some support smile thank you x
