Freaked out ... can't explain what's just happened

Needed to phone someone today, have had their number on the telephone pad in the hall for a couple of weeks, but when I came to find the pad it was gone. Spent all of last night looking for it, couldn't find it. Turned the house upside down this morning, couldn't find it. So this morning I spent an hour calling round to find someone who had the number, made the phone call, have just walked into the lounge ...

... and the telephone pad is sitting in the middle of the lounge floor.

Am really freaked out. SOmeone tell me there is a logical explanation - because I know it sure as hell wasn't there last night or this morning.

(Regular poster, btw, just feel a bit odd about posting this under my usual name)

This kind of thing is usually the work of a small child in my house.

No children in the house.
No vodka in the house although I feel in need of some at the minute!

Are you over 40, this sort of thing starts to play tricks with your mind, memory loss and all that jazz.

Plenty of logical answers but if you are looking for something more:

Probably a friendly spirit, maybe someone connected to you by family/friendship. Just trying to let you know they are around.

Don't let it worry you or freak you out, stuff like this happens all the time in our house although I have the advantage of normally knowing which of my relatives is playing tricks.

SG, that's fasinating! (sp)

Do tell more, I love this sort of thing!

Got to do the school run suzy, might come back and tell you a few things later though.

None of it ever worries me, but it is all normal stuff for a family like mine. Half the time the (ex) rellies have been invited in Smile

Ooooh, that bit will leave you wondering...

I'm the wrong side of 40 but there's nothing too wrong with my mental faculties! When I asked dh last night if he'd seen it he thought it was on the hall table too - the pad's been there for years so if it's hazy memory or loss of marbles then it's affected him too!

Nothing on the pad that shouldn't have been there ... I'd have been running down the road screaming by now if there had been!!

SG - that's strangely comforting - at least I think so.

I know it's not just me, that pad was not there before I made those phone calls.

How can you make yourself more receptive to these spirits.
I went to a fortune teller who said that I had someone wanting to reassure me that they were looking after me .... how can I open myself up MORE to the spirit world ?

Apologies for delay, lost broadband for a few hours.

OK, a couple of examples.

I have a picture of my dad in my lounge. Hung it when I moved here in 1992, always returned to the same hook after decorating.

A couple of months after my dad died I found it hanging lopsided, enough for it to have fallen off only it didn't. Often after that it would be found lopsided, usually after a day when he had come up in conversation. We moved it to a different hook. The new picture placed there never moved, dad's pic continues to hang itself lopsided on a regular basis.

When my siblings and I were babies, it was dad's job to sort out our finger and toenails - he always bit them, insisted it was safer than clippers. Whenever I try to find the nail clippers to sort out my kids nails, they are missing (we keep them in a particular place). We can hunt high and low but they are nowhere to be found. Cue careful biting of kids nails amongst comments of 'ok dad, got the message'. Next day nail clippers will be in the proper place.

Sorry Crystaltips, my post was in response to earlier ones.

You do need to almost 'train'yourself to be receptive, but also be clear minded enough not to jump on every little thing and assume it is spirit related. Reject every logical, reasonable possibility before thinking it is anything further.

Email me and I will try to explain things a bit more clearly for you.

stgeorge, do you mind if i email you too? someone (oddly) who has never met me, told my dh that he thought i was psychic but he didn't think I knew it yet. this was at about the time when i was getting suspicious that i may be. i don't know anything about exploring these possibilities.

Fine for anyone to email me - just make sure you put something in the title so I know it is a MNer or you might get junked Smile

Haven't got time now, too busy multitasking, but will get some 'hints & tips' written up. Will also speak to my mum because she runs development classes.
