In what respect? Are there any studies you can reference?

No - I do believe that sometimes we meet people again and again on our spiritual journey (I mostly believe in reincarnation). I've also sometimes believed that I've met my "soul mate", only for age and experience to prove otherwise.

The closest thing I found to a true soul mate was my old cat. He and I were best friends for the 15 years we were together.

Not really. I think life throws what we need to learn to grow or move on in front of us at times.

Twin souls, not sure. Possibly.

Soul mates, yes.

If the idea of reincarnation and soul groups exists, then I think it would be possible that a single soul could have a part of itself placed within two bodies...

I recommend: 'The Journey of Souls' by Dr Michael Newton and 'Destiny of Souls' - very interesting case studies.

In terms of 'soul mates' I think that you can potentially be happy with anyone, but I also believe that there could be people out there who are from the same soul group as you - where you have shared many lives together.

What is really meant by 'soul mate'? I'd use the term to describe my DW but not in a spiritual way, more of a turn of phrase. But what is it about 'souls' which is supposedly so key in people's personal relationships?

Hey Pedro, I think that the definition of soulmates arises from just being so much in love with someone and that you are perfect for each other. There are so many theories out there and I guess the most commonly accepted theory is most often spoke about.
The bit about 'souls' from my point of view would be that maybe we have agreed to meet at some point in our lives, and maybe we have said we would do certain things (ie soul contracts) in order to help each other. Sometimes this can be via a bond of romantic love, or otherwise.
