Just driving past a school that lets out slightly earlier than the one I was trying to get to to pick up ds, obviously there was a lot of traffic and people trying to get out of side roads etc. I let one car out of the road on the left, but not the next one as I did want to make some progress and get to school on time, and the burka wearing driver stuck two fingers up at me cos I didnt let her out!!
I was shocked tbh, what does anyone else think?

Vulgar signs are not OK, regardless of what you wear. Did you really need to ask?

she's a rude cow? Dont see what the burka (or niqab) has to do with anything.
I guess you assumed that someone religious wouldnt be vile. Sadly no, as I recall from the local verger haranguing me in the churchyard. Religious people can be tits too.

How do you know it was a woman?

Could it perhaps have been the getaway driver of a local bank heist impatient to outrun the law?

I think thats it riveninside, didnt expect it from someone who is obviously religious. thought the wearing of a burka meant you were modest and I guess I thought that meant unaggressive too

Could have been a very shy drag queen who resented your confidence on the road.

Making a few too many assumptions perhaps? Hmm

Was she actually wearing a burqa ?

Shock horror. She was a normal woman with normal feelings, who gets cross, just like us. Hmm

Are you allowed to drive in a burka? Can you see through it well enough?

Report
issynoko · 20/07/2011 18:52

I have never seen anyone in a full burqa driving I must say. How could you see well enough?

If she stuck two fingers up at you, she is definitely British!

An Orthodox Jewish friend of mine (married to a rabbi) tells the filthiest jokes. Grin

OP, I'd be shocked too...as I'd assume someone religious 'enough' to wear a burqa would follow the words of Mohammed & not swear as it is a an immoral act.

What Thistledew said.

Maybe she had something sticky on the ends of her fingers and was checking what her kids had left on the seat? A melted barley sugar perhaps? Or a marmite sandwich?

niqab doesnt interfere with vision.
But of course niqab wearing women are human, get fustrated and swear like most of us. I know I do Blush

because someone wears a niqaab doesnt make them infalliable? lol

actually when people wear niqaab, because they have to put up with so much crap, sometimes it makes them more aressive! as people seem to think they havent ot a mouth...

well if it makes you aggressive because you have to put up with so much crap, why wear it?

Only yime I get aggressive and give the finger is tossers laughing at my disabled child.
Perhaps she should change....oh wait.

The crap givers should stop.
I dont know why the woman gave you the finger but its nothing to do with her religious clothing. Do you analyse everyy white van man or BMW driver who makes rude gestures?

Report
iggagog · 21/07/2011 15:00

I think op is mentioning the religious clothing as it seems to show hypocracy, which is not an issue regarding white van man as we do not have high moral expectations connected to ownership of such vans.

I think it is great and will have to link to this thread everytime there is a debate on here which states that all women who wear niqaab, only do so because there husband's say so and are shy retiring types who walk ten paces behind their husband/father

Though obv swearing is very bad Blush and I personally would never, ever make a rude gesture Blush
